Hello my fellas,
Unfortunately I have problems with my mesh for a really long time now. I thought it would be solved after installing the toro tube but I still can't print a good first layer. The mesh is better than I expected but however it seems that the compensation doesnt work well. I started a first layer print and already at the skirt I noticed that it comes to close to the bed on the left side. After half of the print I canceled it, I was too afraid to keep going.
#Issues with first layer, still after toro tube

Did you run beacon calibration again? Toro tube goes in opposite way when heated - upwards, so it’s very strange to see squishing
Hello, yes that was the first thing I did but today I got some interesting news. the mesh that looks better was from yesterday. I always used the proximity method to scan the bed. Today I started the same print again, same heat soaking time and all. The only thing that changed, I used contact method to create the mesh which looks way worse but I never got such a good and consistent first layer. So my question now is, why do the meshes differ so much?
There were some issues with the compensation mesh algorithm earlier. Try switching to 2.1RC4.
@uneven zephyr how did you get so good first layer? Can i see your printer.cfg?
Hey Nasty, here is my printerconfig. I have to say, that I still run my printer with RC3. In my config, you will find a macro, which loads an existing heightmap depending on the bed temp instead of creating a new map before every print. the pdf file is a step by step guide what I changed, also in my slicer
@uneven zephyr Thank you for the help and i really appreciate it😄
Anyone with first layer issues should try the released 2.1. There are known issues in RC3 and earlier
@calm basin what issues, exactly? I didn't find anything related to that in the RC4 or 2.1.0 changelogs, so I have been hesitant to update so far.
Did you read https://github.com/Rat-OS/RatOS/releases/tag/v2.1.0-RC4?
yes, did you mean to say that this is only relevant for beacon users? I'm still on a pinda. The changelog seems to indacate that first layer consistency changes apply to beacon users
Yes, that is true, most of the stuff is for beacon. And for pinda you do not even get a compensation mesh, so the issues with it are not relevant.
