#MCU 'toolboard_t0' shutdown: ADC out of range

First-time build here, using the parts from the default kit. I've seen other posts about this, and generally it seems that this issue is as a result of thermistor wires being incorrectly wired, incorrectly crimped, loose, etc.

Since I did crimp the wires as per the guide, I figured maybe this was the issue, and swapped out my hotend for one from my IDEX upgrade kit with the wires in the box (super long) to make the connection just to see if that helps. It seems the issue still perists. Any other ideas? Does the fan have to be connected to the board in order for the toolhead to speak to the system? I unplugged it for the time being because it runs at 100% speed and sounds like a tornado. Attached are pictures of my toolhead.

Did you really follow the documentation?

#

And bed thermistor is not the same as hotend. No point on swapping them

I believe my image reflects this placement, does it not? I just noticed though my jumper was in the other slot though, swapping and testing to see if that does anything

then check the image, please 😉

I don't understand, are you saying my wiring is incorrect? Is it orange = thermistor, blue wires = hotend? (in the context of the diagram, in real life the colors are different)

#

If so -- my wiring appears correct...

#

Hot end = ferrule crimped wires. Thermistor = JST

no problem with colors. But there is more info in there...

#

jumper...

Correct, my jumper is in that slot

#

Would it really not work without a jumper though?

your jumper is not in the correct place

But in that message from earlier, I said I noticed it was in the wrong slot, so I swapped

#

That's why I was confused, I think you missed this

#

Testing now

Ah nice -- looks like that got rid of extruder issue, thanks!

Is 'heater bed' referring to the bed heater?

#

(I don't have it plugged in, I thought you're supposed to have it unplugged for the first comissioning)

#

Can I simply have the heater bed plugged into the octo board, but not wired up to the power supply and all that?

#

Seems the answer is 'yes'! Thanks 🙂
