Title says everything. Printer is 3.1 300mm with rapido uhf hotend. Just default set up basically. and rat os 2.1 most updated version.

urban skiff
#

does it layershift once, or at that point is it all over the place? If you print something tall does it fail at the same height?

humble prism
#

So when i print something tall so for instance around the max height it can be fine. but it just the longer prints that fuck up

#

wait

#

here is what i mean left

#

fine

#

right fucked

fallow bough
#

have you calibrated your infill extrusion? I've seen people have that be over extruded which then causes a nozzle to drag and bump and cause a layer shift

urban skiff
#

oh! good call

humble prism
#

I havent actually

#

whats the best way to do that

fallow bough
#

try doing a print with Z hop enabled. If it prints fine that would be a good indicator the nozzle is bumping something and to do more extrusion tuning

humble prism
#

It seems

#

i already have zhop enabled

fallow bough
#

how tight are your belts?

#

And do you have fans over your stepper drivers?

humble prism
#

tension on touch doesnt feel to tight. I cant check the graph because the macro doesnt wanna work with beacon havent come to that yet

#

and no i dont have fans but never needed them on my other bigger printer 500mm

#

I can put a fan on it. i have a big be quite 12 v fan

fallow bough
#

are you using "performance mode"?

fallow bough
humble prism
#

Do you know how to get the beacon to work as the graph measurer

#

I dont have anything else

#

To check it

i get this error

fallow bough
#

are you specifying the beacon ADXL? I can't tell since you didn't provide the logs

humble prism
#

which log do you want

#

my printer.cfg

fallow bough
#

please attach a debug zip (which you can download from the sidebar in the configurator) to your post.

humble prism
#

oke

#

moment

fallow bough
#

looks like it is sometimes working, so I would blame wiring or connection for your ADXL issues

#

also looks like you don't have performance mode enabled. It really is "normal mode" and non performance mode is "handicap" mode just meant for ensuring your motion system is working. Get some fans on your stepper drivers and enable performance mode

humble prism
#

Ah oke

#

How can i connect a 4 pin 12 v fan

#

I mean if i connect only the 12v and the ground it will be constantly on

#

but where do i put the pwm or tachmeter

rancid knot
#

Are you running an octopus?

#

4028 server fans are becoming a popular option for part cooling because of their light weight and great pressure and flow rates. In this guide we'll go over how to connect one and use it for part cooling. 4-pin fans usually aren't used in 3d printers, and many boards only provide 2-pin ports, but fear not! There's always a way.

humble prism
#

I am actually

#

but i want to use this as the stepper cooler

rancid knot
#

I don’t think it offers any benefit for that application over a 2 wire fan

humble prism
#

its the only one i have

#

to be honest

#

thats the reason

rancid knot
#

Ah

#

Well that link above will get you what you need. I also wouldn’t bother wiring up the tacho

humble prism
#

How do i do custom fan name

humble prism
#

i plugged in this fan

#

and its working

#

but its not spinning fast

#

at all

#

Maybe somebody can recommend me a stepper cooler fan

#

[controller_fan stepper_cooler] # Stepper motor cooler fan
pin: PD14
cycle_time: 0.0001 # Try reducing this value
enable_pin: PB10
max_power: 1.0
shutdown_speed: 1.0 # Always keep the fan on at full power
does this make sense ?

fallow bough
humble prism
#

oh

#

which pin do i need t oput it in

#

controller fan >?

fallow bough
#

BTW, Controller fans will only come on when the a stepper driver is active

humble prism
#

so i have to plug it in

#

the controller fan ?

humble prism
#

I got it

#

nioce

#

thanks for all the help

#

ill put it in performance mode now

#

and i will test it out

humble prism
#

OKe turning on performance mode gave me a otp warning

rancid knot
#

Over temp?

humble prism
#

yeah

#

But I just want no layer shift i dont really care that much for performance mode

#

Just to go over all the things ive done. I greased my bearings v rails etc

#

I checked belt tension its normal not tight at all. Rather loose but also not too loose

#

Ive added an fan over the steppers

#

i have turned performance mode on but off again because of the warnings

#

im now going to check my z offset again and then print another longer print

#

see what is going to await me tomoorrow morning

#

but im expecting more wasted filament :*(

Non-performance is training wheels. Really shouldn't be getting overheating if a fan is vaguely pointed at the drivers. Do you have the correct driver's selected?

humble prism
#

I left it all at stock

humble prism
#

i checked

#

and steppers all btt tmc 2209

humble prism
#

@urban skiff @fallow bough so ive messed up I unplugged the stepper while the power was still on. Probably frying that plug so motor 0 and 1 do not work . What ive done to diagnose the motor is i plugged the stepper and motor from 0 to motor 3 and 1 to motor 4. ive changed the config . and that all works

#

the motors work now

#

but

#

when i move on the y both y and x move

#

if i move on the x

#

same

#

im confused as hell

fallow bough
#

The middle motor slots are tied together on the octopus I believe

humble prism
#

only motor 2_1 and motor 2_2

#

I checked i only blew up motor 0 appearantly

#

motor 1 still works

#

the input

#

and motor 3 and 4 arent being used so i would like to use one of them for my left rear motor
