The Wii's max output is 480p, hence why it looks terrible. The HDMI converters will upscale it to 720 but thats just an upscale, its still going to look bad.

@tawny orchid So watching at the highest setting 1080p/60fps in full screen (my monitors are 1080p)....it looks blurry as if I'm playing a Wii at 480p. It looks normal. It could be the 60fps that makes it look "better" to you, or could be that your render settings are messing with your video.

@tawny orchid Could be OBS. I would use the Elgato Game Capture software to record...unless you're trying to record AND stream at the same time? In which case, OBS could be using a lot of your CPU/GPU and therefore not giving you a quality recording.

@tawny orchid I used to use a regular Game Capture HD back when they first released in 2012. I used it for Wii and PS3 at the time. I know for Wii I used some HD component cables that were amde for the Wii in order for it to work with the Game Capture HD. I would recommend component cables, if they still make them. If not, your video is good enough without using a proper video editing software such as Sony Vegas Pro or Adobe Premiere where you can adjust the video settings further.

@tawny orchid I've never used it, and after doing a quick Google search, have to never heard of it till right now. You could try it, it see its only $8 or $13 on Amazon. Worth a shot, but I honestly think its OBS. Try recording using the Elgato Game Capture software to see how that comes out compared to using OBS.

In desperation, i setup one of the HD60S+ on my MacBooK Pro and..... NO FREEKING AUDIO!!!!

Have rigged a 3.5mm audio cable on MacBook from line-out back to the HD60S+ and now it has audio.... BUT... WAIT FOR IT..... The same solution DOES NOT WORK on the Windows 10 PC's!!!

FFS elgato.... $1,000 in capture devices and NOTHING! Logged a ticket with ELGATO and.... NO RESPONSE....

And those who don't know me at all well I was an upcoming twitch streamer called TheHitoshi and I really did love making laughs and content for my viewers even if it was less then 5 watching me play random games. The hd60 had audio crackling and desync issues, the 4k60 had desync issues which I believe got fixed and now I'm banging my head against a wall with the 4k60mk2

Is there any hope to get some kind of device that can allow someone to game at their high frame rate with HDR on their main monitor and then clone that HDR picture signal to go to a HDR capture card? Windows doesn’t currently allow this through software right now, as soon as you clone a display, HDR is disabled and not available to turn on. And is there hope for some kind of software update that will allow the 4K60 Pro Mk2 to record and stream HDR?

After spending a full week with the mk2 have I politely put it back in the packaging it came with, I was utterly unable to prevent it from stuttering during gameplay recording from the Nintendo switch.

I ensured it had full bandwidth moved it from pci -e slot to another one.
Even swapped the hdmi cables to hdmi 2.1 and tried with 2.0 and nothing seemed to help the jitter/stutter.

I'm simply left with the assumption that maybe the elgato internal cards dislike the amd zen chipset
1660ti clocked to 1880mhz, and a 5950x in a dedicated rig.

4k capture app at all edid modes.
The 18xxxx driver and the 19xx driver attempted.
Xsplit, Obs, Vmix and wirecast was attempted, above 4g decoding was enabled in bios.
Firmware was updated to the newest.

If I were to like to see something from elgato would it be a hdmi 2.1 capture card with vrr support ^_^

I've had that same stuttering problem with my Nintendo Switch for months too, and seen that report around several times too

I swapped back to the avermedia4k app and oddly enough does it not stutter in its own app
The obs preview stutters just as much as the elgato but the actual internal renderer of obs doesn't resulting in a clean stream.

I've opted to just buy a hdmi splitter to deal with the fact that they can only do internal edid, giving my monitor issues my main reason for wanting the elgato mk2 was for screen edid and future proofing with hdr to sdr

Also I do a tiny bit suspect the lagg on the switch is related to the 4.4.4 colorspace firmware update

Its definitely related to decoding somehow because even the avermedia 4k card shows the exact same behaviour inside of the obs preview, however not sure this is common knowledge but obs have a separate renderer and encoder under the hood you don't see where proper resources is allocated this is why the preview can lag while the stream doesn't.

The avermedia 4k runs flawless in the official app and the obs internal renderer, but the preview of obs is basically 1 to 1 showing the same issues you see with the elgato mk2.

I found that a bit curious, so the question is if the driver of elgato doesn't specify properly how the card should be decoded leaving windows up to its own default devices resulting in the hiccups ?

Again I'm just shooting a green arrow 🏹 up in the air hoping to hit something I honestly have no clue

When you say firmware is up to date, do you know the firmware number?

Easiest way to check is to open OBS, open the capture card prosperities then click on configure. That opens the driver info window and it shows all the info

So not sure how relevant this is but I'm using a pci-4 motherboard so I have 2 choices I can either limit some of the bandwidth for the capture card and not have a full bus width, scanning the avermedia app is this enough to do yuy2 at 4k60 but not rgb, or I can raise it to the pci slot above limiting my gpu to x8 instead of x16 giving full bus bandwidth.

Hence I could have understood if I had issues at 4k60 or 1080p240 but what I find weird is even 1080p60 is causing the above seen behaviour

I know that the magwell cards came out with a specific update in relation to amd/zen architecture but I don't know if this is related, I don't have an Intel rig to test with.

But allows my 1660ti to run at x16 I wasn't sure if it was my gpu that wasn't strong enough to decode it so I'm honestly not sure which of the two scenarios are the most optimal

So just putting this out there, many of us who uses the "internal" capture cards have render rigs that works just fine and we really might not see a reason to upgrade to the rather strict limits for windows 11, meaning windows 10 is on life support and without TPM, but more importantly a brand "new" 8th generation intel or in my case a 1st generation ryzen ( rocking a 1800x in one of my renderrigs ) will not be supported
As you need 3rd gen ryzen or newer
or Intel 8th gen or newer

does the move to Linux seem much more appealing than spending money on a brand new pc especially during this time when price markups are at 300% MSRP

is there any movement in the community here for a potential Linux branch of the Driver support and such ?
or is the general concuss to just GIT RICH and buy new hardware

That’s a valid point. I have to ask though, have you submitted a feature request for it to be supported on Linux? I would recommend that. I know #feature-request is also a good place, but I feel you should email elgato support directly on that one.

Honestly It was more to prod the community as people have been asking ( and making custom drivers for linux for years ) but the answer have always been a resounding Nope

literally the only reason I live with windows completely bamboozling everything I have setup with an update bi-monthly is because of lack of official linux support, but I kind of figured that when even people like my bf is considering moving to linux rather than upgrading his 7th generation intel i7 could it be the "general consciousness about it might be more open"
but if a majority just goes like sure thing, I don't mind throwing my 1800x away or my 7th gen render rig and buy new hardware lets GO, then me even sending the letter would be pointless as it would have the same answer as it have had prior

It's just been a joyride tbh, windows have agressively been enforcing driver signatures troughout windows 10, resulting in me at one point not being able to see my Gen4 M2 SSD, because "WHOPS"
or my focus rite audio drivers getting butchered completely.

Lots of other stuff, but it's usually to a point where I can go like Oh it's the 2nd tuesday in the month again, lets spend another full day on fixing what is newly broken

the answer to the SSD, was just oh wait 2 weeks and we will roll out an update fixing the error we made in prior update, but that was still 2 weeks where I had the choice of either reformat my entire system to a clean win10 image and try to prevent it from auto updating again ( such a joy to wake up to a pc booted up but signed out and you just go like oh well it's that time again ) ( I don't turn my render rig off )

but yeah hey, please format your system to regain access to a disk with 1 tb of your data, or please wait 2 weeks for us to fix it, if you reformat there is no guarantee it won't slip the update straight back in and you can format once again xD

Not saying Linux is perfect, because it really isn't but at the very least does it return a bit more control back to you as the user in terms of why and when you want to update

Is there anybody that can suggest a non-table shock mount for the wave 3 Mic. I’m looking for something that I can just placed on the floor and have it in a corner or somewhere and just have the mic in the arm stretched out to the center of the room which is about 6 feet away

getting the shock mount? sure it does, any minor tapping or movement of the desk or stand is mitigated with it making the audio quality even better.
