Maybe someone already said first but the font colour was green and we just can't see it as it has been chroma keyed out :p ... that is my thinking for the day now off to sleep š“
hy

š
Idk why but I feel like this is a sort of secret channel. If youāre reading this, you look great today š«”
I am picking one of these as mine is getter too cumbersome
I have the normal one. It's super nice. Shove it behind my couch when it's not needed.
I'd love to buy one and many other Elgato things when I'm more able, but for now the nvidia broadcast background removal does a wonderful job. Highly recommend it for all on a budget (if you have an able nvidia card)
hello
against the wall when not in use.
hello how are you I have a problem with elgato game capture I can not broadcast after updating to iphone ios17 black screen appears
The screen appears black
this is for the green screen. you can ask in #capture-cards
Anyone have a good repository for green screen backgrounds ?
Thereās quite a few on the Marketplace and weāll be adding more continuously.
https://marketplace.elgato.com/search?q=Backgrounds &extension=Backgrounds
Hello, asking here just in case there was some kind of communication in the past, is the Green Screen MT discontinued ? Can't seem to find it available anywhere here (France) for quite some times now...
Ah, discontinued this month. Shame, I'd been waiting on stock refresh on Amazon.ca myself.
Iāve been eye the XL, but I may not need it. š
I stuck up post it's on my wall in the corner of the camera's view and measured. Sadly I will š
Though with the sales on it might be cheaper to replace the camera with one with a more narrow fov tbh
Just received my screen this morning, should there be 2 darker green spots on the screen, doesnāt look right to me and a loose screw
open a ticket with #official-tech-support if RMA is needed. As for the dot, it's not a wet spot is it? those can dry, and go back to normal.
This was fresh out of the box, Iāll see if there still any spots later after itās settled for a while. Thanks
Iād still open a ticket given the screw shown. That isnāt normal.
Was wondering if there was any negative outcomes when storing the green screen XL standing on its end within a closet?
Hello, do you know why I have this problem? the camera hub screen remains green in all my software, I'm on a Mac
Have you applied the chroma key filter to your camera source on streamlabs?
I don't think so, how did you get these parameters? š
the problem comes from camera elgato, because it is on all software
Oh got you, Ignore me then! I thought you were using a physical greenscreen with the Elgato camera, not a software one. I'd submit a suppor ticket for help in that case. Sorry I couldn't help!
thank š
this belongs in #camera-prompter

Hey so I have one elgato light air and the green screen settings are horrible. If anyone can help me with some settings
If you're trying to shoot a greenscreen with just a single Air for both you and your screen you may not get the best results. I've seen setups using a full Key Light, but that puts out twice as much air as a Air. The Green Screen needs even lighting for Chroma Keying to work correctly.
Can I get help?
Please provide further detail on your setup, including how you're lighting your greenscreen. There's not enough info on your specific setup to provide much help here. Have you followed any particular guides to set it up?
As I was saying before, traditionaal chromakey setups rely heavily on consistent lighting to keep your greenscreen looking a solid shade through the whole screen (as that specific shade is what gets removed). That means the lighting setup is extermely important, which means we need specifics on how you'ore set up to be able to help. Aside from that you also haven't mentioned HOW the image is horrible. WIthout knowing specifics it's impossible to offer specific advice here.
That said the number one issue I see is people not lighting them enough and the screen winds up with bright and dark spots that disrupt the even lighting which shows up because it's no the right shade to match the chroma key - If you can't tune it out, then you'd genrally have to adjust lighting or add more depending on the issue
If it is a lighting issue consider this guide: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rr_QRW1OL8I
In this video, we show some tips and tricks for lighting your Elgato Green Screen.
How to Chroma Key Your Elgato Green Screen: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RHVKNPtepXM
00:00 Intro
00:31 Lighting Checklist - Hotspots.
00:45 Avoid shadows.
01:08 Don't get too close.
01:24 Avoid Sun/Windows.
01:42 Stay Consistent.
02:02 Example Lighting - Ring...
(also outside the defaults in OBS or whatever app you're using, there's no real standard settings - you basically take a baseline and tune it for your setup because everyone's setup is different)
i only have one key light
Then you're very likely going to hit issues with it, unless you can set it up in such a way you can get even lighting on your greenscreen. Is a pinch even a couple desk lamps could get you improved lighting to even it out.
I've seen some people set it up with a high mounted full Key Light, but they have twice the light output of your Air model.
Yeah, your tolerance (similarity) settings are up to high to compensate for the lack of even lighting, by the look of it. If you turn similarity down, does it stop taking extra bits out of yoru video that it shouldn't?
The fact you have to compensate for daylight from the window which could make it even more uneven is not likely going to help
You need to have Ur whole green screen just green no shadowed areas or white spots on it for you to get the best results with only one air light I recommended getting led lamp on Amazon for cheap and making them light your whole screen until you can get a full lighting setup
Ok
I might be due for a new one, this one is seeing wear and tear... 3+ years it's been a solid green screen from elgato. https://www.elgato.com/us/en/p/green-screen I might snag this one up once mines bites the dust. https://www.elgato.com/us/en/p/green-screen-xl
Collapsible chroma key panel for background removal, auto-locking frame, wrinkle-resistant chroma-green fabric, aluminum hard case, ultra-quick setup and teardown.
That's the one I have. Still not quite wide enough for my Facecam Mk2 unless I crop though š (which I can generally do anyway since I'm only every in the corner of the screen or on work meetings).
The move to a telescoping pole instead of a scissor lift on the back seemed useful though.
yeah the OG is making noises so I'm guessing it's on it's last days. I oiled it up, but I don't think it's going to be a drastic change. it's been a solid product.
Yeah. XL will reduce moving parts - lighter too, if you have to move it.
Kinda sad the MT was discontinued - but my landlord probably wouldn't want me attaching it to the ceiling anyway
I'm excited, but I'm hoping mine last at least another 3-4 months before it bites the dust.
Lesser chance of breaking if you stop folding it down š
True, but I have to adjust the setup more there to leave it up all the time
And then I couldn't use my ellptical that the screen hides :p
yeah, I move it weekly.
I just got the green screen XL, I would like to put a nice background like if it is a profesional streaming room, do you guys know where can I find high quality pictures of rooms like for streaming room backgrounds?
We have quite a few camera backgrounds on the Marketplace! https://marketplace.elgato.com/video/backgrounds
I didn't know about the camera backgrounds. Thanks for this info @whole otter

my bad i didnt chech channel
No worries!
is it available for Sri Lanka
See Rule 1 - 1. Do not @(ping) administrators.
This particular channel is also community help, and many of the volunteers are in North America and not yet around for the day.
If you want to see if they'll sell in Sri Lanka, I suggest checking the site to see if it can be shipped there, or checking with your local retailers.
Thanks
No problem - sorry I don't have an exact answer for you, but easiest way to check is just seeing if the store on the site will let you try. Good luck
thnks i found it on daraz
Is the green screen backdrop from the ceiling the best kind of green screen to get because I keep upgrading and now I have the one that goes from the floor up but now I want the ceiling one they just keep making me buy green screens.
I think this one is a legacy one now.
What exactually do you mean buy that?
I checked the site, maybe a retailer is ideal as Elgato is out of stock, but Legacy means they donāt make them anymore.
Yeah 2022 is the last time they made the MT.
You mean mine? I got it off of Amazon though and I think they still sell em on there.
Oh so they don't sell the floor one that I still have or the celling one?
The ceiling mount Green Screen MT form Elgato is what Vic is saying was discontinued. It was only ended in Nov 2023 though so you might still be able to find some stock at some vendors
Also just to address the original point. The "best kind" of green screen is the one that suits your needs. It's not high tech equipment. It's colored fabric that you use to key out the background of your video.
I use the ground pull up one since I use it very infrequently. It lets me put it away in storage and pop out for use without issue when I need it.
If you are streaming a lot having a ceiling mount might be better since it's always out and you won't trip over it.
Is there a good way to clean the green screen? I got one second hand off FB Marketplace and it needs some TLC, the previous owner got some stains on it - it doesn't affect the chroma key but at the same time I'd like to try and make it "nice" again
Would depend on what kind of stain you're working with. Gently spot washing with a mild dish detergent usually works when I'm working with similar setups.
If anyone has a recommended gallery of āvirtual streaming shelvesā for a background thatād be appreciated - Google isnāt being great and I just want something I can photoshop some elements onto the shelf myself
Perhaps search āvirtual bookshelf emptyā thatās got some decent ones
This is a great idea. I've shared it with some of our creators who make backgrounds on the Marketplace. In the meantime, you could look for images in your search engine with "Webcam Background" to filter out angled photos or desktop backgrounds or even "Kallax Shelves" which is a common IKEA shelf many gamers use in their setups.
Thanks! Oh man having a marketplace for green screen backgrounds would be phenomenal
We have some on the Marketplace already but are always working on growing this space with out Makers.
https://marketplace.elgato.com/video/backgrounds
Hello, are here some people that could my help me fix my greenscreen? I have 2x Keylights and 1x Ring Light and I use streamlabs chroma key but I cant find the perfect spot, either my headset is invisible, or on the bottom edges is some lighting etc.
either you have too much light, or incorrect chroma settings.
Does anyone have tips for making the most out of the Green Screen XL? I'm struggling to make my webcam fit the screen in a way that doesn't crop my head while keeping a "straight" angle so I can use scenarios like bars/pubs
Any advice on how to clean this ?
What type of stain is it?
Not sure I bought it used on Facebook marketplace
Mild dishsoap is probably a good starting point
Works on most organic stains if you let it soak a bit with lower risk of affecting the fabric. Spot test it on a small out of the way spot first to make sure it doesn't affect the fabric first though
Ok
real question is it in ur view on camera?
Managed to get this hidden gem in the mail. Yay me!
Iāve had my green screen for around a year now - when I pull it down and I try to close it , it canāt close properly. Does anyone know why?
Which version do you have the original or the ceiling one or the extra large?
original
I do it slowly, because the sounds it makes. Maybe something needs oiling? But make sure you donāt get it on the screen.
@verbal sun
Love my greenscreen mouse mat. Donāt use it as much as Iād like, but when I need it, itās clutch!
does the screen have a motor to go up or down on command?
They are manual. No electronics
Why does that exist
Handcam shots mostly, I imagine.
Though I've heard tell of people using it or similar products for things like D&D minis
for what
For streams? Some gamers show their controlers/mice/keyboards, whatever. Maybe they want to greenscreen it with their logo or something similar, or maybe they want just their hand as an overlay withouth obscuring everything else. I could see it being used for pointing to things on screen that way too
Any word on when the Green Screen XL will be back in stock?
Customer service is the better place to direct that question - you can reach them through the links and phone numbers in the link in #official-tech-support . They may also not know though, depends on why it's out of stock and the status of the replenishment order.
Hm, looks like B&H photo might have stock if you're in the US.
Best way to transport them? I cant move mine
To move the screen? Car or something with collapsible seating I'd guess, or wrap it in protective padding of some kinda and put it in back of a flatbed truck? I've never really considered how one would move the screen around once it arrives tbh, but I know the XL at least is a bit long for easy transport
The green screens are collapsible and have handles for easy transport.
If it is an elgato branded green screen.

I'd assumed they mean more they were looking for suggestions on moving it once collapsed - it's still pretty long (especially XL), and basically a long metal tube at that point.
Actually how wide IS the normal version. Just over 60 inches I'm guessing, measured by the container, since the screen is 58.3? I can see that being hard to transport if you don't have your own vehicle
Yeah, I'd have to fold down the seats in the Rav4 to get that in.
I think we may need more context to understand what they are asking.
Agreed.

Thank @teal spindle
Ohhh well, I love all of you wonderful mods

Yea they beat me by a few seconds. I kept trying to find the ban button on mobile until I realized it. Lol

Ya itās a suggestion theyāre looking into, aka āthose who have admin permission to be moderators, will have the important related icons be more visible to them on mobileā
Also yes some things areā¦being updated for moderators
Yer welcome
I can't install the application, I've been trying for 5 hours and nothing works. HD60 X is too complicated to understand, is there no French support available to help me? @administrator
As a heads up, don't ping the admins, as per the rules. They're not generally support staff anyway, and this is community help, not official support.
That said you're in the #green-screen channel - you'd want to ask questions about HD60 X over in #capture-cards
They will want to know if you have a mac or PC, and what the specs are, as well as if you're trying to install 4K Capture Utility or Elgato Studio (HD60 X will also work with third party apps like OBS Studio or Meld Studio).
So I have the normal sized elgato green screen, it didnt come with a support stick I watched a video and the guys green screen stood up on its own but when I pull it up, it falls back down not staying up can anyone help?
It's not locking in place when you lift it up, or slowly sagging liek the gas piston having issues? Either of those is probably a question for #official-tech-support though - from what I know it should pretty mcuh work like you expect, pull it up, hold it a second and it should lock in place.
Hi! The Elgato green screen wonāt stay extended no matter what I try. Is there any fix for this?
which screen?
so do we need a green screen at all with all these new ai updates of deleting backgrounds?
if I move, i want Y'all to watch my previous office on loop till a glow up happens. lol
until then, I'm keeping it in the closet.
Elgato Green Screen (no XL)
Depends on what you're trying to do. A Green Screen is still a cleaner setup, and chroma keying uses less compute resources compared to an AI background removal. Plus the AI stuff tends to remove anything that doesn't move so in some setups it can remove things you actually want to see. But for a lot of people the AI removal can be enough too.
you need the green screen almost on top of you though for it to look nice though?
Depends on your setup - but generally no. In fact having it almost on top of you can result in colour wash from light reflected off of you. To run it further back you do need a light on the screen to smooth out the colour though.
Without the dedicated light you do need it pretty close. Having a camera with wide field of view might also result in needing it up close or cropping the camera image.
the newer one or the og?
ah hmm so im screwed then since hard to put a green screen on my bed since thats almost right behind me, unless I paint the wall green or does that not work?
There's chroma key paint for painting walls. Regular green paint might work, but the choma key stuff is usually a bit more reflective to make it easier to work with
Ceiling mount green screens work too. Elgato used to make one called Green Screen MT, but these days you'd need to get third party one. Can just pull it down from the ceiling when you need it then, and mount it somewhere where you don't have space on the floor
or get an elgato one and rig it to the ceiling or get off my lazy but and finish the room so i dont need a screen lol
I thought you said RUG...
lol
wish elgato had a rug lol
Are there new one? Mine is original
I have the OG, but mine is still holding up. did anything in the springs change, or the anything lose?
Nothing has change
Hi folks. Is it ok to post a pic in the channel of my rough setup so I can ask about the lighting for a green screen?
Yes
best deal ever but it doesnt do shipping so theres way i can get my hands on thisš¢
I'm surprised you can even find that - the MT has been out of production a while
this might help
Please excuse the mess š Could use some lighting advice. This is in a state of being rearranged right now but the middle monitor is the gaming one, webcam is behind the teleprompter. Was going toi use the right light to bounce some light off the wall. But left of the main image (outside it) my green screen will be laid across the floor behind me facing the wall/window. Anyone got ideas about lighting it? I'm not good with this stuff...and I do have another light to use.
make sure the light on the screen is even. if you see the diagram above that is the ideal.
I really don't have much space to move the lights around
The main light above the left monitor is of courdsr right next to the webcam/teleprompter - haven't really tried that ring light yet so mayb. it won't be worth using right now. Only other place I have for the other keyllight is directly right of me as I look at the webcam. I just feel it's going to look messy
you could use chat GPT, upload a photo of your setup, and tell it what is ideal for you.
it can help to work with what you have.
The biggest thing is get the green screen consistent lighting so it has a consistent chroma to key out. Worst case you need to add an additional light behind you just for the screen (which is how I do mine to prevent shadows from breaking the chromakey).
If the screen has shadows, waves, etc, the effect will have issues
If you only have front lighting you want the lights up and away form you to try and make sure they cast any shadowns down and behind where they won't show up to the camera
didn't think of that - thanks
ffs...pc not letting me connect to chat gpt for some reason
you're welcome!
it's an online thing, type in chat gpt.
I do that and it just wont conenct
idk if you have restrictions on it.
tryign to find that out right now
I added a rule to the antivirus/firewall for it
Gah...I'm giving up with it on this pc
if you're using chrome, chat gpt should work fine.
premitted you are using an account to use it.
I dont know if i need to do anything but I received my green screen with a latch broken
Reach out to #official-tech-support for things like damaged orders. They can setup the RMA/exchange if needed.
or even better directly open a ticket at help.elgato.com we're here to help
While the ring light is ok for most, you want equal lighting on both sides, so just need another keylight and remove the ring. adequate lighting on both sides will light your face and the backdrop evenly. hope it helps.
Why is this happening it doesnāt want to fully close properly
Can't really tell from the video - it is preventing the latches from closing?
yeah hard to tell i think so yeah it feels like something is blocking it idk how to describe it but its not
Can anyone tell me why the Elgato Green Screen's are sold out everywhere?
cause people are using them for many different streaming needs. if they are sold out, wait for a restock.
Its been sold out for a pretty long time. So its a fair question as to when we could expect a restock.
thre's a restock role you might want to select to be informed. š
That doesn't answer the question though.
This is a community chat - we don't have an answer to the question.
Depending on why it's out of stock support might not have the answer either
Thanks, I stepped away cause I'm at work.
Well I would think the staff would be better to answer those questions since they are involved with this community board and if they don't know they could find out. Im ok with waiting on a response. But to have people that don't know answer the question with no knowledge of the company would be better to just leave it alone. Im not asking for your response.
Which is why I'm pointing out this is a community help channel - it's mentioned in the header that it's not monitored by staff
If you want an official answer go through the linkins in #official-tech-support to get the phone number to call in or submit a ticket
Yea the header thats cut off. OK. Good of you to point it out.
Good luck with it!
<@&581565551495741448>
We're very sorry - our Green Screen (yes, regular and XL) is EOL. See the Legacy list: https://help.elgato.com/hc/en-us/articles/4642544014733-Elgato-Legacy-and-End-Of-Life-Products we've seen incredible improvements in the last 3 years with AI-Background removal and there will be no restock, at least as far as we can tell. A few remaining ones could show up at Amazon US/EU IF Amazon likes to continue to sell them, otherwise we will do it ourself.
Below is a list of Legacy Products that are no longer being updated or manufactured. These products will continue functioning as expected in their specified software and hardware configuration. Fut...
We're sorry - they're sold out because they're "end of life": See previous answer to OldmanC73
Well what a shame. Some people aren't interested in AI and prefer to use the screens. Moving on. And Thank you.
Thank you for replying. I appreciate it
I was able to snag one in January from B&H, but I just checked their site again and unfortunately it's now out of stock
ok
you can probably find comparable products on sites like Amazon or B&H (if you're in the US)
<@&581565551495741448>
I've run into the problem with my greenscreen where it suddenly collapsed and now the thing doesn't want to stay up and the roll did get some ugly wavy folds...
Any suggestions?
the ugly folds can be fixed with steam, but make sure the screen doesn't get actual water on it. As for the rest, you'll have to repair it, via check the screws etc...
How much better is AI background removal than using a green screen?
If you have good lighting, and proper space and setup for a Green Screen (or Blue Screen), the Screen will almost always win in terms of quality. Thing is it does require good even lighting and enough space that you're not right on the screen dealing with light spill (and not wearing the colour and shade you're chroma keying out, unless it's intentional), so AI background removal can be good enough for most folks, as it doesn't require the additional investment.
