#capture-cards

That’s odd, but is the laptop being charged when the capture card is in?
Nope. I’m going to test another ps5 at some point today to see if by chance it’s that but it connecting to my monitor just fine is what makes it all weird
Hey, so I managed to fix the audio problem with my Elgato 4K X by getting a new USB expansion card, but now I have a different problem. Everything is looking a little laggy.
Every time I boot into a console, like my PS3, it always seems to act weird when it comes to latency. It's very laggy.
Frame rate seems to be fine when I'm in Elgato Studio, though.
Oh, now the frame rate's fixed.
But, now, it's all washed out.
I feel like I'm getting there in terms of getting this setup properly, I just need to fine-tune my Elgato 4K X properly.
Audio is working, video frame rate is smooth, but it's very washed out.
I don’t have a frame of reference but if that dark grey is meant to be black, that’s the kind of difference that limited vs full color range can make. So toggling that setting in OBS (or whatever) should reveal what the matching setting is.
Anyone ever seen anything like this? I got a 4k Pro today by RMA and anytime I play at 4k120 any capture software shows up like this
tried new cables, reseated card, uninstalled and reinstalled drivers to no luck. Any other resolution works fine
G'day I'm having issues with my Elgato 4kpro Mk 2. When I stream PS3 games on OBS, the image on my main monitor is normal, but on OBS it's alot darker. Is there any help on this? Also does it with PS2 and OG Xbox. Is it a HDR issue? or rsomething else?
probably your color space is mismatched, set it to partial or limited on the ps3
(color range)
what is you EID set too?
I've had this before, with an HDMI Switcher.
Currently merged but I've tried all 3
Im not running through a switch, or anything just straight from ps5 to pc
what other settings do you have it on?
click the reset button, see what that does.
No change sadly
did you reinstall the drivers?
I performed a clean install of 4k capture utility which I believe should also install the drivers clean too?
yes
Honestly wondering if I got a bad RMA card it was refurbished. This is the only thing that doesnt seem to work go figure lol
usually when they RMA it's brand new.
Well thats bizarre, I got a certified refurbished card
They wouldn't send you a refurb unless they told you it was.
I paid for an advanced RMA and wasnt ever given a choice
I would contact support, but as for the card, do you have it hooks into any other devices other than directly to to the pc. you're not using a switcher or anything?
I have contacted support but figured i'd try other methods until I hear back tomorrow(hopefully)
As for the card I do not, im going console->capture card->monitor nothing weird in between like splitters or switches
can you check your cabels, and see if they have arrows on them?
Cables are the same direction as they were with the previous card so I dont think that'd be the issue. Last card was RMAd becuase the screen would tear horribly if using VRR
What I'm asking is if the cables have arrows.
some games might not like VRR, ex: the Last of Us, only does 60 FPS. So some gwams you have to turn that off.
the reason for the arrows is they usually point as a singular direction, or bi-directional if there are no arrows. so checking all bases.
Just verified no arrows on the cables they're bidirectional
i just noticed they dropped elgato studio in july, do yall prefer studio or 4k capture?
4k capture is end of life.
Elgeto studio is the current app and a couple of the newest capture cards that came out since then are only supported by that; no support in the old one.
I think there are a couple less common features for a few cards that haven’t been brought over to studio yet, but I couldn’t tell you what those are.
4K Capture Utility also has issues with NVidia drivers 591 and up, due to changes to NVENC presets. (if using that driver, you'd have to use software encoding for now)
Ive been trying to figure out how to stream my ps5 gameplay if my capture is being used by something already i have the 4ks btw
Elgato Studios doesn't have as much input lag for me compared to 4k capture utility on my 4k X. It's very good response. I prefer the lighter framework but I have one big problem recording in elgato Studio makes this big red border when recording which is really bad for someone like me that has an OLED monitor
It's definitely missing a few big features
In comparison to 4k capture utility
Try OBS
They can’t be used by more than one application at a time. And obviously not more than one source at a time.
But it can do full screen preview projector.
Or just connect a display to the passthrough output. That’s the intended best configuration.
hello, could somebody help me please, I got no signal on my new 4k S, I tried everything I could..
we'll need more info.
Do you see black screen or do you see a screen that says no signal?
What app are you using?
What is the source?
How are the cables connected?
what have you tried? (all I could doesn't tell us what you knew to try and what you didn't think of yet)
I see this
no signal
it's elgato studio
it also shows no signal screen through obs
I connected hdmi from ps5 to the capture card, then another hdmi to the screen
both cables are capable of the connection required
I connect the usb c with an adapter cause my computer doesnt have type c
my usb ports are 3.0, and even tho im connecting to them, the program told me it's 2.0 and told me to switch to 3.0; i tried different ports until on one of them, the program asked me to update the firmware so I did it and at the end it asked me to unplug it, which I did and then i saw an error message smth and i restarted the program and now this is all i see
Do you have picture on the connected display?
what do you mean the picture?
I mean your connected display from the capture card output hdmi port. The passthrough display .
Yeah that was my next question. About usb
Probably the adapter is not full usb 3.0
Try flipping it over though.
Some usb c adapters aren’t wired to be fully double sided.
this is the picture I get, do you mean that ?
You said
And another hdmi to the screen.
Does that screen have video?
Yeah so usb is the problem. The adapter is the prime suspect
how can I make sure an adapter has the capabilities of holding the signal?
according to the title of this one when I got it, it says 10 gbps
Try flipping the usb c over.
If that doesn’t work. Probably the adapter is not capable of 3.0 speed.
Many are just for charging and have limited data speed
what's flipping it, what do u mean
USB c connector doesn’t have a top or bottom. It can go in either way
Some adapters aren’t fully wired to make this work
ohh
okey ye let me try that
now it shows this
as if it's 2.0
connected to the same 3.0 port thou
Have you restarted the computer?
There’s been something up with the latest 4Ks firmware, but I don’t have more info than that. So I’m a little worried.
But The other thing to check is usb tree viewer.
See what this shows for your connection speed
If that says 2.0 or 2.1. Then it’s the cable/adapter, or something else is forcing the controller down to 2.0 speeds.
Could even be dirty connectors.
If it says 3.0 then it should be good and I guess maybe it’s a firmware issue.
Would talk to #official-tech-support
not sure what to do here
wait i found smth to download
I have no idea how to identify the one port which I connected my cable
for sure after I got it not to tell me it's 2.0, it asked me to update the firmware
then at the end of the update, it asked me to unplug the cable
and when I did, some error appeared idk what was it
and even tho that's the screen I see with no signal, the capture card light is fixed white, which means it's supposedly working
I have windows 10, could that be an issue?
where does it say the speed ?
Find the capture card in the tree and click. The details will show on the right side
it says usb version 3.0 (5 gbits/s)
the S is supposed to be super speed, so it's good for 3.0 if i didnt missunderstand the instructions
what can I do ? @lone crypt
This says 3.0.
so it should be fine.
I don't think any consoles are capable of producing a signal that this card can't use... right? And the passthrough is working.
So I have nothing left besides going to #official-tech-support
in here it shows it's on port 19
but i connected it replacing something that was in 3.0 up there in the beginning of this list
like this, the behringer etc
idk
I already sent them a ticket
thank you yo
with passthrough, do you mean I see the playstation screen on my screen? I thought you meant something else
I don't see the playstation screen
when I switch to HDMI on my screen, connected to the capture card while the capture card is connected to playstation, there's no signal either
Wait, are you reusing the display for the computer and the console? That complicates things. better to not have those connected to the same display at the same time
I just tried it on a second screen, not connected to the pc
same result
is windows 11 required or does the program work fine on windows 10 too ?
Hi, sry we record a podcast live. Just wrapped.
Yeah, so with a capture card, though, because they are both attached and both recieving video, it can cause the display be confused and I've seen some weird and difficult problems when users are trying to use their computer display of the computer they are capturing on.... and a second input on that display as the passthrough from the capture card.
But, the problems I've personally seen people dealing with around that, were more like the display keeps switching, or it keeps blinking off and trying to change resolutions.
If your passthrough was working but the card says no signal... might not be the same thing
Yeah, passthrough works as long as the card has power, it's hardware based
I don't really know if windows 10 is an issue for elgato studio. I know some stuff says it needs 11 when it works fine, but I don't know about that app
So i'm not sure. I think we checked the easy stuff. USB seems fine, but the app complains sometimes. Says no signal.... but it's 4ks so the console should not be able to produce a signal out of range of the card, right? Passthrough works so that means both HDMI cables must be good.
beyond my skill. I guess. Or.... the firmware.
Officially the app requires Win 11, but I think it's in the same boat as Stream Deck where you can get away with 10.
That said the card also works with other apps like OBS or Meld, or even Windows Camera.
But if the app is throwing no signal, I'm inclined to believe those apps are also going to get a black screen or no signal error.
Back when you two were going over USB Device Tree Viewer, did you note the three speeds on the summary for port, device and connection? While 4K S should work over USB 2 up to 1080p60 via MJPG, I have noticed some people seem to have issues with USB 2.0 mode on the latest firmware. If it's still stuck on 2.0 for one of the two connections would be good to be doubly sure there
That said I'd also try setting the input EDID mode to Internal if the single monitor is getting used for both PC and passthrough - some monitors actually disconnect/power off the HDMI port when you're on the other mode which can mess with EDID handshake when the console connects
I don't know how to achieve this. My streams have been going very badly for the past few weeks because of this situation.
Download Elgato Studio from https://www.elgato.com/downloads and run it. Make sure the other capture apps are closed first. If there's a PCIe error, Studio should throw an error right at the top
I don't see any errors in the software. Do we have to use EDID? I've never had problems like this before. I reached 2/3K viewers because of the image quality. I urgently need support. I bought two of these products and one of them is still in its sealed box!
Do you get video in Studio? Or still the green screen?
Also keep in mind this is community surpport - if you need official support you should also have a ticket in with #official-tech-support to be safe, as they can take some time to get back to you
Can anyone help me like right now right now???/
im live on tt and having audio issues
I haven't tried video recording yet. I only use it for broadcasts.
Your original issue was a green screen in TikTok, correct? We need to narrow down if your fault is hardware, config or software based to know where to start. Do you at least get preview video in Elgato Studio?
It's like this right now. The problem starts when I enter the game.
When I open the game, it displays "NO SIGNAL" after a certain number of seconds. When the screen reappears, it changes to this state.
@past basin
Looks like it's tripping up when kicking over to 4K120.
If you load up the new Elgato Studio app instead of the old 4K Capture Utility, do you see any newer firmware updates for your card in the Device Properties?
no.
What firmware version is Studio reporting on it?
I imagine Studio is doing the same split screen, correct?
You should only need to change the EDID if you're not getting signal at all. If you want to limit to 4K60 I'd start by turning off 120HZ in the PS5 menus
Huh. You have more update firmware than I do. Interesting. . .
What's your driver version reporting in Studio while you're checking settings?
Same driver version, different firmware. Why am I not seeing that update available on my end I wonder.
This is what I downloaded. Game Capture 4K Pro.
That's why I'd wanted to be sure you were using Studio - if there's an update it'd be in there since it's newer than 4K Capture Utility
But instead it's me that's behind. I'll poke at that later
Usually I'd go through #official-tech-support - there's two parts to the fimrware that have to sometimes be done in the right order to do it safely
It currently appears to be closed. #official-tech-support
It's a link to the ticketing system and phone numbers. The email form is always open
Official support doesn't generally operate from the Discord.
Are we communicating via telephone? @past basin
I . . don't understand the question? You can call support yes - though they're closed at this hour, they're open 10 AM to 5 PM Pacific Time
thank you so mcuh @past basin ❤️
No worries, wish I had a clearer answer on that, but I've only ever seen one user run into it before and I can't recall how they resolved it
they might have to update the MCU, and Base on this... I was researching, and that was the resolution for the issue on this, that fixed it per 1 user. It seems to be a rare issue.
They're already newer than me though
And it's telling me I'm up to date 😐
maybe it was a bad write over?
or maybe it was a new device with new firmware
that isn't out yet
Maybe - you've got one right? What firmware version are you running?
4K Pro?
or 4K X?
Pro
so maybe it's new...
but this might be a repeat of the HD60X
yeah a new firmware for sure... but let's hope it doesn't break things.
Yeah - if I had the newer one to test downgrading from I'd have tried that to suggest - but best to go with official support for a downgrade if I can't test it first to be safe.
Don't want to see a mess like folks who update HD60 S via the old app
agreed...
otherwise I'd be happy to share my base & MCU.
Any firmware issues I always redirect to #official-tech-support
If I've tested a rollback or it's a single part firmware rollback I don't mind so much - but dual base/MCU when both are updated can sometimes have implications since they're done one at a time. So yeah, usually better to go through official support on those
hopefully it get's resolved, and they comeback with a fix, so we're aware.
How can I contact that person?
Does anyone know how I can access the old software? 🙁
Did you open a ticket with official support after? They're the best bet to sort it out
Yes, I see it now! Oh my God, the site won't open in the EDGE browser. I had to try a different browser.
Chat i did use this on a mac book like 4 yrs ago why is rbis here lolol
IT SAYS ITS RUNNING SO I CANT OPEN IT BUT ITS NOT I HAD TO FORCE CLOSE WITH TASK MANAGER BECAUSE IT CRASHED I CANT SEE WHAT IM GOING TO STREAM
Don't open it in both. Close 4K Capture Utility, just add it in your streaming app. Then if you need to hear it yourself through the capture, turn on your audio monitoring for it in OBS by setting it to Monitor and Output for Monitor options in advanced audio settings
A proper screenshot of that app setup would help too so we can see the soruce list and settings
yea no I confused your words earlier, I dont have passthrough either when I switch to hdmi signal on my display
by passthrough I thought you meant the elgato studio app having signal or not
I dont receive signal either way
how do I turn on EDID input ? I dont see this option through my screen when pressing the buttons physically
in USB device tree viewer, it said the port I'm using has an "S" meaning superspeed, or 3.0
Did all three speeds in the summary match though?
EDID settings are in the capture app, under devices, or in the pull out side panel if you're using Studio instead
I see this on devices tab
do you mean this ?
That's it. Perfect
The panel im talking about in Studio is the side panel, not device properties. Click the button that looks like a panel up by the gear icon in the app
oh I see it, let me check it
do I leave it like this ?
I have more options
wait I can see my ps5 on the app
but I dont have signal if I switch to HDMI on my display
it's also creating custom settings which I dont know how to create or delete, besides obs not showing signal sigh
how's the internet filled with so many videos of people saying this is plug and play ?
the image I get is also washed, on a side note
Because it almost always is.
As I said, using the same display for both computer and console is often problematic.
Washed out image is probably a color range mismatch.
That said… there have been several reports of very weird behavior from 4Ks after a firmware update recently. So I’m not sure what to make of that
a color range mismatch, how could I fix this? any ideas
i have no clue honestly..im new to all this, im really trying to make it work
I think it would be in that side panel in elgeto studio. But I only read English so I can’t point it out in your screen shot.
In OBS it would be in the peripheries of the video source.
Limited or full.
ah what I meant is not washed image in obs, cause in fact I get no image in obs at all
I meant in the elgato studio app itself
could you send me a screenshot of your app to know where it is ?
I only use OBS.
wait so you dont use elgato studio at all? just pass the picture straight up to obs?
That’s right.
There is no “passing picture” elgeto studio is a software elgeto makes, but all capture cards work in OBS and anything else that uses video devices, too.
The only thing you need elgeto studio for would be changing hardware settings like EDID on the device.
And probably firmware updates
We sometime ask people to download it for changing these or for testing to diagnose other problems.
But I have always just used OBS. Never needed to change EDID settings on my setup.
Mine is dual pc. Not console
oh maybe that's actually the issue, I was using elgato app + obs open at the same time and maybe they both conflict if one is open
I will try later this
to just open obs without elgato studio
what is weird is I had to enable EDID in order to see picture in elgato studio, but then I could disable it and still get picture
but no matter what, I still get no signal to my display if I switch the display to HDMI, physically
Oh! You can’t use the card in more than one app at a time.
You don’t enable edid
Edid is a hardware setting that you can change the setting for but it is always on some setting.
Edid is a signal that displays broadcast to connected devices telling those devices what modes the display is compatible with.
Setting this on the capture card tells the source device and connected passthrough display what modes they can all use.
So with consoles usually merged or display is the correct setting. This passes the display’s edid to the source console.
If you are not connected to a passthrough display, then internal might be the only setting you need. Since the capture card is the only device in the chain.
Hello, I own the 4K X and after changing the EDID mode I basically have no sound even though in the Windows sound settings it is maxed at 100%. Is there a way to reset the device?
What exactly did you change the edid from, and to? And did you change the audio mode at the same time?
Also changing edid modes sometimes devices need to be restarted and reconnected before they will get the handshake right and sync
The default value was on own EDID mode (User Profile) and changed it to standard.
For example in OBS there is sound displayed but when you open the recording you basically hear nothing.
if you see activity on the meter in obs, but it's not audible on playback of the recording, then I suspect it's an OBS setting that's the problem.
First guess is the audio is being recorded on a channel other than channel 1 in the video file. So you would need to explode that audio into multi-channel in an editor to find it. Video players will only play channel 1 by default.
The thing is I hear something very very quite. It is the same problem with Elgato Studio.
Cranking up the Audio to 2000% in OBS I can hear audio. Still not loud enough.
Ok so it's very low... that's interesting. What is the source device; a console?
Is it's audio mode set to stereo PCM?
Is there any enhancements or spatial effects on the device in windows system (open mmsys.cpl > properties of the device)
Source device is my gaming pc.
It worked fine before I changed the EDID setting in Elgato Studio.
Audio is maxed to 100%.
Using Elgato Sound Capture to mirror sounds so my gaming pc's headset gets audio and the capture card.
I haven't found a way to reset the 4K X.
and... why did you change the EDID? From what to what? Are you using a duplicated display method on the game PC?
Source device being a PC, that means we need to check the audio routing there also. Make sure that output device is also turned up and doesn't have any enhancements or spatial effects enabled.
So using the sound capture app... your headset does hear audio? have we verified the settings in that. Can see audio there, does it look quiet on the meters?
Restarted that computer?
And on the capture card settings, audio mode is digital.
I've not used sound capture app so I am not very familiar. (using wave link mixer)
I changed EDID from user profile (was default) to standard. The reason was because I was only getting 60hz on the capture card (was connected to my TV but now I removed it and got 144hz). Was trying to get higher hz with my TV connected with it connected to HDMI out on the 4K X.
Screen is duplicated and I hear sound normally on my headset.
Afterall I will reinstall Windows on my recording pc. After some testing my audio seems quite low there too after the incident.
guys any idea afterr i updated the firmware of hd60x sometimes the display is comingg sometimes doesnt trying to connect ps5
Hmm.
Ok so maybe stream pc issue. I would check all audio device in mmsys.cpl to see if anything can be learned or fixed there.
what is your EDID set too?
in ps5 1080p 60 fps
this?
it should advise what's ideal.
try internal.
ok
display quality is so whitish in internal
not sure what you mean.
display grayed out
image quality so bad in internal
change it back to merged
display working fine
ok, and no more issues?
no idea yet if i restasrt my pc then it happen only then i nned to reconnect hdmi cable
before i did firmware update it was fine
try the reboot, and see if the result is the same.
samer i unplug the usb 3.0 then plug it again now no signal
do you have anything else pulgged in a port next to it?
nothing just keyboard and mouse
are you on a Desktop, or laptop?
laptop
is it charing while you're using the capture card?
if i wait for 40 sec then display comes automatically
yes
ok, good, it needs the power supplied. Also, did you disable usb suspend?
laptops are little werid.
how to disable it
Here's a step-by-step guide:
Open Power Options:
Search for "Edit power plan" in the Start Menu and select it, or go to Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Power Options.
Access Advanced Settings:
Click "Change plan settings" next to your current power plan (e.g., Balanced).
Click "Change advanced power settings".
Locate USB Settings:
In the Power Options window, scroll down and expand USB settings.
Expand USB selective suspend setting.
Disable the Setting:
Change the setting to Disabled for both "On battery" and "Plugged in".
Click Apply, then OK.
this right
done disabled
ok, see if any changes.
no same thing
@past basin any thoughts on this?
i shoud not update firmware 🥲 can i roll back
you'd have to contact #official-tech-support for the file.
this the latest right?
I think @past basin has that info.
Firmware files are embedded in the programs - Elgato Studio should have the latest one. If it doesn't tell you you have firmware updates you should be on the latest
But that does look like the latest, that'd be from this summer
Do you have a screenshot? Usually when I hear tell of the video being greyed out either HDR tonemapping is coming into play, or the HDMI colour range is on the wrong setting and it's just washing out the contrast a bit
It's possible moving to Internal EDID is telling your console that HDR is availablje when it shouldn't be on your display
in which case disabling HDR on the console would probably also sort it out
Lowering the resolution doesn't fix it either
Anyone can explain this thing in obs stream preview is laggy and in stream is good
Stream/recording will be prioritized over the preview if there is a lack of headroom for smoothness.
But a preview has to do with the right printing company, right?
I think something has been lost in translation there. I don't understand the question
I don't see image on my screen even then
ive literally tried everything to fix this does anyone have any ideas what i can do? any help is appreciated 😭
Imagine if the 1650 4GB can't handle the stream and the preview?
What care are you trying to use?
It's possible, if it only has 4GB of VRAM it might strugger to keep up with both recording and preview. It will slow your preview to keep recording/stream smooth
What card is this? Have you already tried changing EDID modes or using a different cable?
I already ordered the 4060 8GB, I think that will be enough to handle it
HD60X
tried that too
When you load up either 4K Capture Utility or Elgato Studio do you see any firmware updates for the card in the settings under the device section? What firmware is it currently on?
the 4k s
You need to use Elgato Studio with 4K S instead - it doesn't work with the old 4K Capture Utility. You can get studio from https://www.elgato.com/downloads
i have the studio installed, the pink app?
Yeah
i thought to be able to use chat link i had to change to analog audio using the 4k utility app 😭
That changes in Studio now too
ohh okay, i dont see anything in my audio settings on there now though
When you open Studio there's a button showing a side panel up top near the gear icon - click that and you'll get the audio options
let me try
i cant stream right from the studio though right, so id have to use obs or some other thing right
Correct
The audio setting saves on the card though, so once it's set it'll stay like that for OBS too
okay perfect thank you
i think my next issue is the chatlink pro however, because even trying to test it by recording a short video i cant hear myself
You won't - it only splits the audio form the console not the mic (because the console is at line level voltage and it's an unpowered cable it can't mix it)
Mic will only go to the console while using Chat Link Pro
Generally you add a mic at the PC to mix yourself back in
So you should hear all the audio that it sends to your headset, but not the headset's mic
so use my xbox to be able to use party and have party members hear me, but for stream use my pc mic?
yeah
okay perfect thank you so much
No worries, good luck with it
got everything working, picks up party and game chat, thank you so much!!
Nice, glad to hear you got it sorted out!
the latest
It also has this weird issue where the frame will move to a freeze frame
left, right, up or down
Did I recieve a bad card?
I have tried everything
I found the issue
when selecting the EDID mode
no matter what's the option, elgato studio must remain open
That should not be happening. You might want to check in with #official-tech-support on that.
Once the EDID is set, it should be set on the card, and work even if there's no data link to the app (you could in threory power it with a phone charger in a pinch and the EDID should still be what was set, and passthorugh should still work)
What version though? That tells me what hardware revision your card has.
If you're getting the frames going off center though that's usually a VRR issue
Does turning off VRR on your source stop that?
(it can also be cable or EDID issues)
I went ahead and contacted elgato for a replacement
Can anyone please help, I can't get my audio to pickup from my 4K S as an output on my laptop which is causing the same issue on OBS and Tiktok Live Studio. I had the old program installed but I uninstalled and restarted my laptop...
Old program was the 4K Utility, I uninstalled that and installed Elgato Studio
you are absolutely right
after hours of trial and error, I just had to turn on the EDID on display mode and leave it there
now I can switch from dvi signal to hdmi and viceversa with no problems
thank you so much for the help guys and sorry about the frustration words @past basin @lone crypt
hey! my elgato 4k started screen tearing recently but only when i full screen it. any help? all answers ive found online are in relation to obs but im using it on its own
are you running the EDID in Display?
im not sure (im not all that aware of these terms haha)
how would i check?
i have my switch 2 connected to the elgato, which is connected to my labtop, and then i have my pc connected to my tv via hdmi set to second display only
if that helps
in elgato studio, side panel it should show you.
these are my EDID settings
change merged to display, or internal see if that fixes it.
awesome!
can i asked why this fixed it? is merged a bad mode to have for my setup?
no, but if screen tearing happens, you change things to sync with your display, or internal, via your gaming pc/console.
merge is a good overall, but sometimes not a solution depending on your setup.
nevermind, its still tearing :(
ill try internal
nope still tearing :(
ive had my elgato for months and this is a very recent problem ive ran into
What is the name of the card?
elgato hd60 x but on my labtop it’s called 4k capture utility when I open it
did you update to the most recent firmware?
I think I have auto updates on? but I’ll confirm whenever I get home
ok.
I updated it and tested all 3 edid settings and I’m still screen tearing
It only seems to do it when something intense is happening on screen
could it be a windows 11 issue
dual pc, or console?
I use a single labtop and console/tv
hey! i have 4k60promk2 capture card ans am trying to plug mirrorless camera (micro hdmi to hdmi) into obs. i have had consistent issues with 4kcaptureutility/obs not receiving a signal. could i please get some help troubleshooting this problem?
found the issue - i was using a bad quality cable
I have a question about the Elgato 4k Pro.
-
Sometimes I have no connection when I want to link my Switch 2 to the Capture Card.
After restarting my PC, the problem is solved. But it comes back every few days. -
I only have a signal, when my Switch 2 is already on and when I open the Elgato Studio after.
I have black screen and only audio when I first open Elgato Studio and then start the Switch 2.
Are there any solutions to my problems?
so ive got the 4KS capture card, ps5, gaming monitor, and trying to set up live stream using my laptop, everything is plugged in as it should be, when i open elgato studios i can see the live video on there, but when i open elgato 4K capture (because i need to change audio output to analog) it says no capture devices found
and the usbc to usbc cable is the one that came with the capture card so its a 3.0 and the port im plugging into on the laptop is a SS port
Sounds like turn on the switch first so they get sync.
4Ks came out after 4k capture utility was end of life.
Change your settings in elgeto studio. Activate the right sidebar with the button next to the settings cog on the right.
Replugging the hdmi cable might also work to get the handshake.
Sweet! Thanks heaps
thanks for sharing.
Hey is anybody able to help out really quick with my 4KS and ps5/pc setup?
stuggling to get this on the road and its pretty frustrating, cant seem to find anything online either
@craggy gobletheya
can I quickly give u a message regarding the 4ks, im having the same issues you had >.<
anybody?
hello, pardon me for coming into here, just want a quick ask, how do i fix the contrast or whatever it is for my capture device
when i turn on the device, my capture shows with normal contrast for a split second before switching to whatever elgato is doing and i dont know what setting to change to fix it
im tech dumb so excuse me if the answer is really obvious
is thias discord even active anymore or ><
Yes or no can I my stream Nintendo switch and the other consoles I have ps5+Xbox series s ?
it is quite active but please do keep in mind that this is run by volunteers across many different timezones so people may be sleeping, at work or taking care of things in their own lives at the moment. I'm sure someone will be able to help you out when they can.
Thank u
with a capture card you should be able to stream any console to your pc
Can anyone help me, I’ve got the 4KS capture card, everything works fine, just having trouble with the audio.
I Live stream using TikTok studios and there’s no gameplay audio coming through, it’s only picking up my mic audio, so the stream hears my voice and nothing else.
Party chat? Have you tried using Discord instead from the app on pc and add the chat, or does it have to be from console?
Has to be from console as I am with others on console
okiii❤️
Usually this is about a 10th gen ipad, and it wouldn’t be compatible. You’d be correct about it working on pc as long as it meets the pc requirements.
Turn off HDR.
Chat link pro, and analog audio for the capture card audio, and you’d need a 2nd mic hooked up to your stream for your viewers to hear you.
Ahh so then I have to plug my mic into my controller?😭
That sucks
no, you can use the headset mic for your party chat, and you'll need a second one for your pc and .stream to hear you.
No I meant for the chat link
Pro?
that would be the ideal for the headset mic. via aux cable plugin.
Dayumn, so essentially my wireless headset is gonna have ti be wired for this to work at all?
that's just for your party chat to come through your audio.
you'd still need a mic for your viewers to hear you, because your mic doens't carry over.
that's why I was asking about discord party chat vs console.
Yeahh I have external mic aswell
So I’d plug my headset in via the cable to the chat link and elgato
Then I’d put external mic into the PC for stream to hear me?
then you should be set, if you're doing wireless, you could check and see if all audio over HDMI might work...
that includes chat.
yes
I’m not sure it does for ps5😭 I’m using the audeze maxwells
checking
Thank You ❤️
Sorry I just really wanna get this setup 😭 so I can start content creation
try over HDMI via your PS5.
if not, you'll need the cable.
Sorry wait how would I do that😭
ps5 audio settings.
ok, see if you can hear party chat on your pc
Noo😭 I sometimes was able to hear game audio but every party chat
I guess the only option is link then💔
yeah, and analog audio on your capture card.
That is the 3.5mm jack right? When you say analog audio?
Is that how your setup is on your streams?
correct, but you also need to change your capture card to analog audio.
Ouu interesting I’ll have to check how to do this
When I get the link
ok
it's in the side bar in Elgato Studio
if you're using an external capture card
Yeahh I’m using the Elgato 4KS
open the side bar, you should see an option that said audio
Okay perfect
I assume OBS is overall better for the recording side too, instead of the elgato software?
cables aren't bad, you'll still get a great sound.
I use OBS , and Meld Studio.
Yeah it’s just I love the wireless headset 😭😭 but I guess I gotta make ends work
Meld to go live, OBS mostly for recording, but more often I tend to use Meld Studio
Ah I’ve never heard of meld, howcome you prefer that ?
yeah, that's the thing with party chat. Move them over to discord, and you wont have to do that.
most consoles have Discord, minus the Switch
When you’re playing I guess on the console, do you play through your recording software or on your actual console? I’ve seen people do both
it depends...
If I'm playing a multi-player, I use the console, and not preview mode.
if I'm playing a JRPG, I dont' see latentcy, and tend to use preview mode.
it just depends.
Ahh interesting okay okay!
Well thank you so much for the help, I would go into settings and stuff for your recording software too as I saw your stream and it’s 10/10 quality 😭🤣 but I’ve never used Meld so I’ll probably stick to obs😭🤣
I’ve seen Meld is a lot easier and new user friendly so I may use that instead tbh
they are both great!
awe thanks for checking it out! I've tweaked a lot to achieve that look.
Ouu yeah its looks great!
I need to figure out a theme and stuff for my channel but can’t for the love of god decide on anything 🤣🤣
for me, it was realizing I wanted something so barebones minimalistic. I built off that, however, some like overlays, and I did that for over 5 years, and was happy to make a change. it depends on your vibe.
Yeahh I get that!
It's a very personal thing, and journey on overlays and emotes. I'm sure you'll find your vibe.
Yeahh I just need to start!
check out the Elgato Marketplace. A place to start.
I used the cascade for a long while. Loved it.
hey @warped ledge would you be able to help me with my setup? im running a ps5, monitor, and using my gaming laptop for the livestream with tiktok studios, ive got the 4KS capture card, chat link pro cable, and ive been using elgato studios because im pretty sure 4K captue utility app wont support the 4KS. The stream works fine except the gameplay audio wont go through, the only thing the stream can hear is my voice
do you have a mic for your PC?
no, just my wired headset for the controller
the mic doesn't transfer through the console.
you need a mic for your PC. Are you using party chat?
or discord for party chat?
ahh ok, um party chat like as in like when im playing the game?
more like when you have a group of buddies you're chatting with in the game through parrty chat online.
yeah im usually in a party chat when im playing with friends
in discord or on console?
console
then a chat link pro cable might be ideal for you.
you'd still need a mic for your pc though. so people can hear you.
on your live
ive got one 😂
change the audio to analog, in your capture card settings.
when i do that, the sound starts coming out of my laptop speakers though
that way they can hear your party.
they would hear the gameplay audio as well?
you could turn off monitoring if you don't want to hear it.
ok ill have another try, thanks for your help i really appreciate it😊
you're welcome!
sorry one more thing! the sound in my headset only comes through one side when im trying to stream any tips on how to fix that
that is odd, check your cables.
Thank u @placid mica ?
Ive been having this weird fuzzy screen issue almost like the soap opera effect whenever i swap over to 120 hz using the 4k S' on the PS5
hello i have hd60x elgato nd that is connect with pc but not light show blinking
Hi, could someone help me?
I bought an Elgato 4k60 PRO and I'm using it on my PS5 PRO, but when I try to stream to my computer, the card only works when I set the PS5 to 1080p. Whenever I set it to 2160p, the screen goes black and only the audio is transmitted.
Keep in mind, the key word there is you should be able to stream them to your PC. If you finally got a computer that meets the specs for HD60 X, then yes you can finally start streaming your consoles. If you're still trying to use your iPad with it's USB 2 connection or something, it's a no go.
What motherboard do you have and what slot is the card installed it? Usually there's two causes for lost of signal above 1080p - either the card is instaleld a PCIe slot that only does x1 instead of x4, or the monitor connected in the HDMI OUT of the card does Display Stream Compression (DSC) to achieve higher settings. If there's a monitor or TV in the HDMI out, does that still get signal when switching to 4K?
I believe that's a current known issue on 4K S's latest firmware that they're looking into. I suggest checking with #official-tech-support on it. Iirc it may be specific to 1440p so you could either switch to 1080p or drop to 60 Hz to get off the affected mode.
I assume that's supposed to read that a light is now blinking? What does Elgato Studio or 4K Capture Utility say when you run them? They can diagnose a lot of common HD60 X errors
I have an Aorus B650 Elite V2 motherboard. The board is connected to PCIe 2.
Yeah, it's a PCIe issue - that board's lower slots are both only x1 . The card requies x4 for full function. You're not likely to be able to get it to run over 1080p60 on that board
Oh no! 🙁
Thank you so much for your help.
No worries, wish I had better news. The board does have a USB 3.2 Gen 2 port if you'd rather switch to 4K X though. Otherwise your best solution would be to upgrade the motherboard - make sure it has at least one port (aside from the GPU one), that has x4 lanes available.
Good luck with it
Hello! So I'm having an issue. I bought a chat link pro but the issue I'm having is my mic from my headset goes through to the game. But When i plug it in to my controller it makes it so I can't hear my crew in game. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong or what.
I have it plugged into my capture card
Just to confirm there, you mean when you plug Chat Link Pro in, and your headset is going to Chat Link Pro, you don't hear the voice chat in your headset? Do you get any audio in the headset at all like that? What console do you have it connected to?
So I'm connecting it to my xbox series X console. When I have it plugged in I hear game audio, but not voice audio. Only when I don't have it plugged in I can hear the voice audio
Oh, Xbox. XBox is the only console that can do partial audio splitting built in. That can sometimes confuse some stuff. Did you set your capture card to Analog Audio mode using 4K Capture Utility or Elgato Studio when you connected the Chat Link? If not you're probably still getting the HDMI audio feed
no its not analog only
Then that needs to be switched over - the capture cards don't switch automatically. If your card is 4K S it needs to be done in Studio. For the other recent cards either Studio or 4K Capture Utility. In Studio it's in the side panel you pull out with the panel icon up next to the gear, in 4K Capture Utility it's in settings under the device tab. Once you've see it in one of those apps it stays set on the card and you can use it with other apps
Thing is I was told I was able to use it with other capture cards
Thanks
Are you not using it with an Elgato card? If not you need to make sure the card has a line in jack, not some other sort like mic or headset. You can also use the line in Jack on your PC sound card
It does have a line in
Then whatever card you're using you need to consult the documentation to make sure you know how to pull audio from it's line in jack specifically and no the HDMI
HDCP is off?
Noted
Yes
while streaming on obs, at some point, the audio gets delayed by a few seconds with no apparent reason, after about 2 hours of streaming just fine. Is there a known way to fix that?
I think Arcsane already answered this.
ah i didn't know it was about trying to stream to an ipad, ya for sure that part is a no go. i just took the post as asking if it can steam those devices in general
It might not be, but they didn't have a PC the last few times they've been been in, and the particular iPad model they have is USB 2.0 so you can't stream with it like you can some of the more powerful ones
Sometimes it helps to mute the card and add it again as an audio input capture
ahh gotcha gotcha
I disabled the buffer storing or smth like that, following a video. I've tried your tip which I also saw around, thank you. Let's see tomorrow if it fixes
Hi, I just bought and installed Elgato 4K Pro but its not detected.
Motherboard: ROG Crosshair VIII Dark Hero
https://rog.asus.com/motherboards/rog-crosshair/rog-crosshair-viii-dark-hero-model/spec/
I've installed into 1 x PCIe 3.0 x16 (x8 mode)
Disabled the fast boot, manually changed the slot to gen 4 to increase detection but nothing
what is the correct driver for it?
installed the driver fixed the issue
Now I need to figure out how it works.
1.Im playing at 4K@240FPS
2. Using only HDMI IN
3. Input EDID Mode: Internal
4. EDID (Internal): 4K Pro 4K 240
5. Main gaming Monitor set at 4K @ 240 FPS
6. Elgato virtual screen/monitor set at 4K @ 240 FPS
7. Elgato virtual screen is cloning my main gaming monitor
8. The Capture card/OBS receives 1080p @ 60 FPS (How do I get 4K @ 60 FPS?)
he's a little different. as he's usually focused on ipad. 🙂
yeah, i would probably ask what they are wanting to stream/capture with.
The Capture card/OBS receives 1080p @ 60
How do I get 4k @ 60 FPS?
I want to downscale in OBS from 4K to 1080p
did you install the driver for the elgato capture card?
Elgato Hardware Drivers - Windows 10/11A UVC (USB Video Class) device is plug-and-play hardware that uses built-in Windows drivers, eliminating the need for proprietary installations. Devices like ...
the canvas needs to be 4k
I installed Game Capture 4K60 Pro.
I want to know if steps from 2 to 7 is correct?
which card do you have?
Elgato 4K Pro
this one
yes
but did I do right 6. Elgato virtual screen/monitor set at 4K @ 240 FPS ?
Im not sure if I was supposed to clone the frame rate or not.
dual pc?
yes
is your main monitor the one you're cloning to the capture card 4k 240? and is it showing up on the streaming pc?
yes. 7. Elgato virtual screen is cloning my main gaming monitor
and what does the capture card show?
on my second pc, in OBS I see my gaming monitor.
However I wanted 4 K @ 60 FPS
Then in OBS output to downscale that 4K to 1080p
but to do that I assume I need to change Elgato virtual screen/monitor set at 4K @ 60 FPS ??
the 1080p 240 is correct, with that setup, but to get 4K 60, hm...
what options does it give you?
what I need to understand is
in the resolution drop down
I need to understand this cloning thing, my gaming monitor is 4K@240 FPS and elgato's virtual screen is 4K @ 60 FPS, do I lose resources on this?
elgato created a second virtual display on my main gaming pc
my logic was to make both same resolution and same frame rate
getting something for ya.
ok, here's is the matrix for this capture card and resolutions https://help.elgato.com/hc/en-us/articles/23479165158029-Elgato-Game-Capture-4K-Pro-Supported-Resolutions-and-Frame-Rates
This is a list of supported passthrough and capture resolutions. For each input resolution, the supported capture resolution is supported by 4K Pro.
These resolutions and frame rates do not consi...
I dont know how a gpu behaves with 2 screens cloned at same resolution but different frame rate
I've read that, it doesnt answer my question how a gpu behaves with 2 screens cloned at same resolution but different frame rate
@past basin I'm sure you're better at explaining this part. I don't think this card can do 4k 60 while cloned 4k 240, only 1080p 240.
I removed cloning, changed elgato virtual desktop to 4K @ 60 FPS
then I clone the display, it changes elgato virtual display to 4K @ 240 FPS which results 1080p 240.
what I intented was gaming monitor 4K @ 240 FPS & elgato virtual screen 4K @ 60 FPS = obs capture card 4K @ 60 FPS
But its not possible to do what I want
basically I wanted the best of both worlds
Now how do I do the audio?
okay, done, I done goxlr (software) + voice metter banna + elgato
I have a goxlr setup + wireless headsets and no line in, I made everything work
4K Pro has to downscale when you go above 4K at 60 Hz to keep up. The GPU can handle running displays at different refresh rates just find usually (barring the occasional driver update with issues, but they don't usually last long). If you want OBS To be doing the downscaling you need to cap the signal that the capture card gets at 4K60. Easiest way to do that and still get 4K240 on your main display is to clone the screen, with the important step that after cloning you need to use the display settings to go into the advacned options and cap the capture card's virtual display to 60 Hz, otherwise it'll get hte same signal you were getting before at 4K240 which it has to dowscale. Turn off the 4K240 EDID you set and set that back to Internal input mode on Default while you're at it.
Note that using Windows to clone your display does disable the option to use HDR though, as Windows doesn't sllow HDR on closed displays. If you need HDR as well you can setup an instance of something like OBS on the gaming computer, configured for HDR and use it's screen projector mode to duplicate the display via software (since you're not encoding it's still very light resource impact). In that case set the capture card's virtual display up as a extended monitor instead and project to it from OBS (or other app of choice)
I need to remember this for the 4K 60 with the 240
hello good people! I have a tech question if anyone is willing to assist!
I have the Astro A50X headset and I am trying to pair it with my PC, Xbox AND PS5 into my Elgato HD60X and I stream on Twitch using OBS. I get visuals on both monitor and within OBS, I can hear audio on my headset and everything else works - except the audio isn't coming through from the consoles (PS5 & Xbox) into OBS.
Connections are correct based on both main FAQs from both brands. I've upgraded all cables to be highest for data transfer, usage, etc. so no issues there. Even tried a resolution from a Logitech Support team member but unfortunately no audio still coming through at all.
any solves for this from anyone in here? i am currently working with someone on the support team to assist here but wondering if there are any folks in here who have dealt with a similar issue to help me speed it up as it's affecting some of my twitch streaming abilities at the moment.
your consoles won't send audio to two different locations at the same time.
Xbox has more options for this, I think it can send to HDMI and a controller headphone, but you have to find the option in the settings and I'm not sure if it will work with a wireless headset.
PS absolutely won't do audio to multiple locations.
If you want audio in a headset and capture card at the same time you have to use a wired headset connected to the controller, and then use the Chat Link Pro cable, to split that audio going to your headset and send a copy of it to the analog 3.5mm in port on your capture card.
(and note that this won't capture your voice for stream, since it's a copy of what you hear in the headset. need a mic connected to the stream PC for your voice to stream. that trips some people up. )
A50 X doesn't pass though audio on the HDMI when it's in use. Make sure you put the capture card between the console and headset base to prevent that causing an issue. This assumes you have configured it correctly to get audio over HDMI from the console, and not pure USB mode as you can't capture USB audio.
Also note that the voice chat for it goes over the USB connection that won't get captured, in most cases, since it can't do mic over the HDMI. If you're using it for voice chat you generally won't be able to capture that (with the exception of Xbox party chat, as jnTracks was getting at, if setup correctly)
thank you both for the notes @lone crypt & @past basin! such a bummer as I thought I had a solve with this headphone set up as I previously had to do two different ones but guess its back to that set up to work. 😅
Yeah working with wireless audio makes capture a pain. Only one I know of offhand that captures it all is the Arctis Nova Pro. It has a line out on the back of its base you o can set to stream mode and capture from with a line in (like the ones on Elgato external capture cards)
Good luck with it though
Hey all,
I’m having this issue with my OBS and Elgato capture card Neo. I’m using Mac mini m2. If I use Elgato Studio or QuickTime Player, I can see my captured device, but when I open OBS I get this light blue color. I use OBS when the other software is already closed
does anyone have a possible solution to this? ive tried all the edid settings and updated my capture card but still havent seem any results. (im using the capture card from my switch to labtop which is being connected to my tv with an hdmi cable for reference)
the issue is only started recently and i use this capture card to record footage so id like to be able to remedy this :(
hey all I apologize if this is the wrong section to ask. But, I have a two pc setup with an Elgato 4k pro capture card. On my stream pc I just rebuilt with upgrades and nothing else. It was all plug and play. However even though all drivers and whatnot updated correctly. OBS detects my capture card on the second pc,but isn't displaying the video feed. On the main pc it is detecting the card and is displaying the feed over.
The stream pc actually shows the feed on the elgato software. I am just wondering why now obs cannot display the feed in it's software. I really wanna capture my main pc feed again 🙁
hello, im looking at either the 4k s or the 4k x for the switch 2. im currently using the hd60s which isn't great since i'm locked to 1080p 60hz. i have one 1440p 144hz monitor that i play from, and i use the obs preview so i can stream to my partner and use my pc while gaming on my switch 2.
i tried doing some research but i couldn't find much, which card has a lower obs preview latency? on the obs website it states that the 4k s has 30ms latency but i couldn't find any information on the 4k x.
my budget is a little tight but im willing to save up a bit more for the 4k x if that suits my needs a bit more.
They're approximately the same latency, both should be about half what your HD60 S does.
Noted that latency is higher if you are using any of the MJPG modes because of the compression taking a bit of time to process. (4K S uses MJPG to get 4K60 over USB 3.0 for example)
If you're working with Swtich 2 the only things to not really are that 4K S needs to use MJPG at 4K60 if you play at 4K, and tha there's one display mode, 1440p 120Hz with HDR, that will be unavailable without a HDMI 2.1 card. 4K S covers everything else it can do
Have you already tried removing the card and re-adding it in OBS? It can get picky at times when hardware changes.
To confirm though, it works fine on 4K Capture Utility or Elgato Studio, but NOT with OBS?
What hardware was added? If you added a M.2 card or something for example you may have affected the number of PCIe lanes that are available for the slot the card is in, which could have impacts on what display modes are available.
Does it happen if you try other apps? What app are you using it with right now? Have you tried rolling back your GPU drivers?
I'm assuming the tearing only happens in preview not the recording, in which case it's usually software or GPU driver related
That's a new one on me - check in the mac Privacy settings to make sure OBS is allowed to access cameras - it could just be blocked. (the OS treats the card like a camera)
I’ve only ever used the elgato 4k capture utility. my setup for recording is having the elgato displayed in obs and recording things there with obs. how would I roll back my GPU drivers? will it affect other things on my labtop?
You've only ever setup 4K Capture Utility but you're using OBS? To confirm, you added the card as a Video Capture Device to OBS, correct?
To roll back your GPU driver, uninstall it and install the previous version. You may also be able to run the driver rollback from Windows Device Manager. It may affect other things, but only in the way it should work before your last driver update.
Sounds like they are using a window capture of 4kcu
That's what it sounds like, which is why I was asking about the other way specifically, to clarify. If they're window capturing the other capture app that could be the cause of tearing
sorry for any confusion. im using obs to record the capture card but the screen tearing is occurring even when im using the capture utility without obs just to mirror my switch
it seems to only tear when something intense is happening on screen, when playing kirby the tearing is minimal but when playing smash it gets really bad
Is it only happening in the preview or also the recording?
i assume preview is what shows whenever i open 4k capture utility without applying anything else?
Preview is the main video feed you watch in the app yes, recording would be the actual recorded files
i havent tried recording anything since my method of recording is displaying the preview in an obs window and recording inside obs
i assumed it would also tear there because its the same feed
recording in OBS is a valid test too
Thing is it's not quite the same feed
The point of checking it is to tell if the issue is with the feed from the card, or the computer rendering the feed live
Hey, so I just got a elgato capture card (4k X), and I'm having issues setting it up for streaming. Can anyone help? Simply put I'm using streamlab's obs, and it will not read my video feed.
Since most apps will favour keeping the recording smooth in the event of issues, you're more likely to get preview problems than recording ones. If you have both the issue is likely with the feed from the card rather than the software or encoding
the tearing only seems to happen when i toggle full screen mode i should add
Close the card in Elgato Studio before you load Streamlabs. Only one app can use it at a time
ill check a obs recording now
Ty will try this now
ok so weird thing
i played smash in preview with obs open and it didnt tear
so i closed obs and it started tearing
then i kept playing with obs recording and there was no tear in the preview
and theres no tear in the recording
. . . you closed OBS? As in you've got it open in another app at the same time? Which model capture card are you using - you just called it a 4K earlier, but there's something like 5 models with 4K in the name right now..
im using hd60 x
Yeah, you shouldn't be able to have that open in two apps at once in Windows.
Either you're using the Windows Multi App support which is buggy at best, or you're setup with the discontinued Stream Link or something?
How did you add HD60 X into OBS specifically?
in obs i have a window capture set to 4k capture utility
Don't do that. Add it to OBS directly as a Video Capture Device. If you need the card in it's own window after that to play on it, right click the video capture device in the srouces list and choose to open a projector for it
App capturing another capture app that's capturing the card is probably why it's tearing
Since you're bringing in a risk of multiple points of failure
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=27fYbUln-Vg can walk you though how to add the card into OBS directly
In this video we show you how to set up your Game Capture HD60 X with OBS Studio on Windows and macOS.
▼ Click "Show More" for details and features.
▼ HD60 X Highlights:
► 4K60 HDR10, 1440p120, 1080p120, 1080p240, VRR passthrough.
► High resolution 4K30 or 1080p60 HDR10 capture.
► No watermarks, no time limits, no subscriptions...
but its tearing when using only 4k capture utility?
Yes, and that could be the app
Or an interaction between the app and the driver.
You could also test it with the newer Elgato Studio App
But if you were tryign to use OBS for a comparison while pulling audio through 4K Capture that was already tearing, it's noa valid test for ruling out other issues
ok so not only did the video capture device change fix the screen tearing but it also fixed a different issue where everything was just alittle choppy and i was just gonna learn to live with it haha
but now theres no audio? i can see it displaying audio at the bottom of audio mixer but i dont hear anything
oh i can hear the audio in the recording
but not when recording
hm
nvm! i found the issue
thank u so much u have no idea how much i appreciate this 😭
Glad to hear you've got it sorted out
Let's go!
I’m getting double audio feed back from Xbox it doesn’t appear in stream but I’m constantly hearing it how can I fix it
You must be monitoring twice.
Give us the details of your setup and we can try to find it…
Stream labs my stream is only picking up the audio once, but it might ears through my headset.I hear it twice.I've tried muting my pc and it still picks it up
Need more info. Where is your headset connected to? What is the monitoring setting in stream labs?
Do you have an audio mixer?
Is there any “listen to this device on…” set in windows sound device settings?
Stuff like that
One of those or something in that zone is causing it
Ah ok, so you need to completely turn off monitoring of the capture card in stream labs.
Will I be unable to have my headset connected through Xbox? Will I have to use the app?
Wont that remove all audio?
Wait, is your headset connected to both pc and Xbox?
Is it connected to the controller?
It is not connected to the controller. It is a wireless headset connected directly to the Xbox. And my monitoring says it is off
In that case your Xbox must be doing something wrong… because you’re not listening to the pc at all.
Xbox (fortunately) has an option to send sound to two devices at once. So it would be set to send it to the headset, and to the hdmi so the capture card can hear it.
If you’re hearing the audio twice… but only connected to the Xbox… I don’t see how that’s possible.
Got any more info for us?
I'm very inept when it comes to technology.I'm probably missing something.I can't even begin to describe
I suggest disconnecting the capture card and go back to just console and tv. Make sure audio works
There's no double audio on the stream just in my ears my mixer channel is saying it's only coming from the capture card.
Mixer channel?
You didn’t say you had a mixer. (I asked)
But you said your headset is not connected to the pc
So that cannot be sending sound to your headset. Right?
When I'm streaming the microphone on my headset does not activate any sound. I have a separate microphone for that which picks up my voice. But the people in my party I hear Twice.
My game audio does not double only party.
Ok so the mic connected to the pc is for your voice on the stream.
But your party chat can’t hear that mic, because it’s connected to the pc… not the console.
Once again, these are separate devices.
Ok wait, who exactly is hearing something doubled. And what is doubled?
Correct two separate devices.I have one mic to talk to the people in the party and one mic for my stream to hear
I'm hearing the doubled. My party doesn't hear it. My stream doesn't hear it.
But your headphones are connected only to the Xbox.
So I don’t see how you could hear anything doubled.
Ok so let’s go back to disconnect the capture card. Just set it up like a console you’re playing.
Check the audio this way.
Okay, so I just connected it and it's still having this double audio.Thank you for helping me figure out.It wasn't my capture card
Alright, good. Yeah so…. That’s an odd outcome, but confirms what I thought had to be true.
I don’t have an Xbox and really no idea how to help.
Could the sound be coming out of tv speakers at the same time as the headset and being picked up by your mic… something like that?
I figured it out in the settings.Thank you.Sorry about the trouble I caused
Ah!
No trouble! We’re here for helping. Sometimes you just have to bounce the idea off somebody.
I’m pulling my hair out!
I have purchased a Elgato 4K S capture card to connect my PlayStation 5 to my MacBook Pro. The visuals are coming through but I have no audio. I have a chat link cable which I’ve connected to my PlayStation controller and capture card. I have seen online that I need to change the audio input in the elgato studio software from HDMI audio to analog. The software is not looking the same either. Am I going crazy
Elgato Studio is the correct place to change it - you may be seeing screenshots from the older 4K Capture Utility. In Studio pull open the side panel icon up near the gear at the top
There will be a audio section there in the right side panel then
(once set there it saves on the card so you can use it with other apps)
If you'ore using something like OBS make sure you also add the card as an Audio Input Capture - it won't pull the audio through the video feed via DirectShow like it can on Windows, so it needs both a video and an audio source
there is no audio option
You're in the wrong menu. The menu icon up by the gear, not the gear itself
(mine doesn't have the audio option as I've got Neo at the moment which doesn't have the option)
OMG i am so embrassed by this thanks
No worries, it catches a LOT of folks
My apologies for the lack of reply. I was asleep.
It is fixed now though!
So everything was working properly, but somehow the audio permissions was turned off on the 4k pro. Re enabling it restored it's function on obs. I feel so foolish, but am happy it wasn't anything too crazy.
My camera is enabled
Hello, I’m using the 4k s capture card. I installed Elgato game capture and installed the newest version and I’m now experiencing artifacting whenever I switch to 1440p OR 120fps. The HDMI from the Xbox works fine by itself on the monitor. And the preview/capture looks good when I turn the resolution down to 1080/120hz or 1440p/60hz. but if I try 1440p/120hz, the preview and capture has artifacting.
I believe that's an issue with the current firmware. Check in with #official-tech-support via a ticket or the phone system.
I'm assuming what you means is you installed Elgato Studio, and ran the firmware update, and that's what started the issue, in any case
Hello! I have the HD60X and it was working fine until about a month ago it is blinking Red. Any fixes on this?
Fast red flashing is invalid or no hdmi signal.
https://help.elgato.com/hc/en-us/articles/6312014827661-Elgato-Game-Capture-HD60-X-Status-LED
Okay thank you I will check my cords
Hello I recently got the HD60x and im trying to connect it to my mac to stream from windows pc to my mac, its showing my pc on screen in obs but not the icons or anything else just my wallpaper
if nayone could help i'd be so grateful! ❤️
This will be a privacy setting in macOS. Give the camera permission to capture the entire display.
Adding to what jnTracks was asking there, if you're just seeing the PC wallpaper, how did you connect the capture card to the PC? Did youy hook it up in passthrough where GPU goes to the card, then the card goes to your monitor, or did you hook it up like a cloned setup where you connect the card and the monitor both to different ports of your GPU? If you did the latter you have to remember to duplicate or clone your screen or it'll just get treated like a second monitor with nothing on it
I just bought the elgato capture card neo but I don’t know how to get the sound from my game onto obs or elgato studio
Audio needs to be routed to the hdmi for the capture card to receive it. Make sure your source device is playing audio to hdmi and not a headset or something.
Then it should come through the video capture source in OBS. Or in Elgato Studio.
Is there a way to route music channel from wavelink through a cap card separately. I’m trying to mute the music on 2nd track for twitch vod
You can use a 3.5mm cable from line out to line in (you'll need a ground loop isolator to fix the loop this will create)
Or wave cast does this over network.
I use wave cast rn and it works great I was just trying to figure out another way
Quick question, just got a second pc to be my dedicated stream pc and I put the elgato 4k pro inside it, when connecting it to my gaming pc I know its out the gpu into the "in" of the capture card, but I've seen different people online say that I do or dont need to use the outport of the card just the stream pc gpu is that true? Also if I do need to use the outport, do I have to play on hdmi or can I use display port?
The capture card has one feed of audio, wave cast can have the other. One for the music you want separated from the VOD , and the other for the rest of the audio mix.
The output of the card is for passthrough display, to see a live feed of that’s being captured.
In a dual pc setup you don’t NEED to do this, but you can; essentially placing the capture card between your device and your display, and it splits off a copy of that video signal.
But it does not connect to the stream pc’s GPU, which is an output port anyway, so that wouldn’t do anything.
And no, capture cards are hdmi, not DisplayPort.
If you use the passthrough you’re basically setting it up like a console.
But with dual pc that isn’t required since the capture card will appear to the game pc as an additional monitor.
Just duplicate your make display to that one.
Ya ima just use a aux as well to send alerts to gaming pc
Okay so GPC to SPC via hdmi to CC, then hdmi to monitor from SPC via GPU Duplicate Monitor that's connected to GPC to have it show up in OBS. Is that correct?
Umm. You confused me here.
The stream pc will need its own monitor in order for you to see whatever software it’s running. That’s what the stream pc GPU will be connected to.
The capture card adds an hdmi input to any computer.
So the connection is from the game pc GPU to the capture card hdmi input.
And in the game pc display settings, the hdmi connected to the capture card appears as a second display. Make that a duplicate of your main display.
Unless you want to set it up as a console does. Using the passthrough
I have 3 monitors 2 for gaming pc 1 for stream pc I connect and hdmi from the gaming pc to the capture card in the streaming pc, then connect stream pc to monitor with hdmi using gpu outport. Then I need to duplicate 1 of the gaming monitors to the monitor the stream pc is connected to right?
Yes. Duplicate the one you want to capture.
Okay what about audio because its not passing through, do I need an aux cord?
You need something to copy the audio to the hdmi audio device. A mixer like wave link.
Or if you don’t have a mixer, windows can copy the audio from one device to another.
Open mmsys.cpl and properties of the device your game audio is being played on. Probably your default output.
Set “listen to this device on…” and set it to the capture card.
There is a little added latency with this method.
How do I copy the audio using wave link?
Do I just need to have it downloaded? And which PC should it be on?
Nvm I downloaded it on the stream pc and its showing up in discord when I select ths capture card as the output on ths gaming pc but now I have no game audio in my headphones.
Sorry not discord I meant obs
I just got a Elgato 4k60 Pro, when HDR is on my main screen color is inverted/distorted.
On OBS it looks fine,
If I lower data rate for HDMI on PS5 settings to -2, screen looks better, but it's way too dark.
Is this the original 4K60 Pro, 4K60 Pro Mk2 or the newest 4K Pro? The original one didn't support HDR on the earliest hardware revisions so if you have a used original one from back in the day it could cause issues
If it's any of the newer two use Elgato Studio or 4K Capture Utility and try changing your Input EDID mode, starting with Display. You may have to restart or disconnect and reconnect the console for it to correctly pick up the changes when you change modes
yeah I understand because of high refresh rate and resolution it will downscale to 1080p
I dont know how sharp is the downscaling elgato is doing and I assume its Bilinear?
I been told “Let OBS downscale, not the capture card.”
You need the mixer on the pc where your headphones are connected.
The game audio will be in the mixer along with other audio sources, and send output mixes to your headphones and another to the capture card HDMI
I think it might actually be integer. But yes, downscale with OBS where possible, but that means switching to 4K60 or lower on the capture feed in order to get 4K capture through 4K Pro. So you want to setup for duplicated/cloned displays, either through the GPU driver or using an app to project
Not 100% sure on the model, but it looks like this.
Bah, yeah if it's the full size cover like that it's the original. You're going to need to check if it's HDR compatible then, as the early ones of that model weren't. To do so you need to load up 4K Capture Utility and check in settings under the device tab to see if there's an option to activate HDR passthough. If it's there turn it on and restart the console
https://help.elgato.com/hc/en-us/articles/360027963252-Elgato-Game-Capture-4K60-Pro-HDR-video-is-supported-with-new-hardware-and-software has some info on when they added HDR10 support to that series, and the note about having to enable HDR passthrough for it
(if HDR passthorugh option IS there, it'll probably fix the issue - may also need to enable it in OBS or whatever else you're using under the configure video options in the properties. I honestly can't recall if that option persists on the card or not)
we also the correct drivers installed right?
4K Capture Utility should install the drivers. I think they were getting capture from it anyway, just not passthrough
That card is old enough I've honestly got no hands on with it for how the oldest hardware revision handles (or doesn't handle) the HDR passthrough
Is the 4k pro UVC?
Arcsane you told me a bit ago I need uvc for there to be any chance of Linux community made drivers
Would I be able to go for that pci card?
4K Pro is not UVC. UVC stands for USB Video Class, so it's almost always external cards. The few oddball UVC PCIe ones you might find are just a USB controller and a USB capture card on a PCIe card, so at that point you generally might as well go USB anyway.
4K X would be UVC
Ok
I can research when I'm done.
what I found... https://help.elgato.com/hc/en-us/articles/360027963252-Elgato-Game-Capture-4K60-Pro-HDR-video-is-supported-with-new-hardware-and-software

oh lol!
have fun with that. I'm waiting till after x-mas to do anything else.
I can imagine you looking like this...
Does anyone know how to fix the Audio recording twice whenever I am streaming or recording. I have the 4K S and don’t have chatlink and have to listen through the device
4k60 ok
4k120 bad
Who can solve this problem
which capture card?
I’m having an issue with my Elgato HD 60x attempting to connect my PS5 to OBS on my Mac. I had a house fire a couple months ago and am just getting settled in with a new setup so not sure if that’s throwing it off or what.
I’m getting audio levels on OBS from my capture card, but no video. For a long time it was just a black screen, now it’s a black screen with the logo and no signal. A flashing red light on the capture card too.
I have tried what feels like everything. The HDCP is off on the PS5. I have tinkered with the video output stuff in the screen and video section. I’ve tried updating OBS and even my computer. Turned the computer and console on and off multiple times. I know (or at least I think I know) that my cables are good because both HDMI and the USB c cord are Elgato brand straight from the website.
I know it’s Christmas Eve but if anyone out there can ease my mind a little bit and offer some help I’ll love you forever 🤣 it’s driving me crazy over here and I’m hoping for a Christmas miracle lol
4kpro
Flashing red light usually indicates either signal issue or USB connectivity problem. Given you're on a mac, are you running the card with a cable rated for at least 5 Gbps? You can check in the USB section of the mac System Report to make sure the card is connecting at 5,000 Mbps
The website also sells USB 2.0 cables for the audio products, so without knowing specifically which you bought that could still be the issue
Here’s what I get when I click on the device in system report. I’m not sure if that’s the specific section you meant or not. I bet that’s what happened though, these were the ones I bought. Doesn’t say it’s compatible with the HD60X so would make sense why it wouldn’t be working.
Yeah, that's the report. Seems that's what happened, you got the lower speed cable meant for the audio gear and Stream Decks ao you're getting capped at USB 2.0 speeds of 480 Mbps
Any USB 3 or faster (including Thunderbolt) cable should work though if you have any spares around
3.0 cables will be listed as 3.0, SuperSpeed or 5 Gbps - any of those or faster should work
Thank you so much for your help 🙏 hope you have a great holiday friend!
You too, good luck sorting the cable
I’ve got a ton of spare cords lying around. To test their speeds I just go to that system report section?
Literally the first one I tried worked 🤣 thanks again for the help
Nice, glad you were able to get it working
Hi
download the correct driver for your capture card via the PCIE card. https://help.elgato.com/hc/en-us/articles/360027961152-Elgato-Hardware-Drivers
Elgato Hardware Drivers - Windows 10/11A UVC (USB Video Class) device is plug-and-play hardware that uses built-in Windows drivers, eliminating the need for proprietary installations. Devices like ...
Hey my 4kpro is not connecting to my ps5 and idk what to do
ive tried everything
I downloaded drivers and disabled hdcp or whatever its called
What app are you using it with? Does it throw an actual No Signal error, a black screen or something else?
No Signal error elgato studio
If you click the top left, does it say no signal there as well? Or is it showing a resolution and still saying no signal? Is there a TV or monitor in the HDMI OUT of the card, and if so does that get signal?
Doesn’t even let me click the top left. The pass-through is working like the outport is showing signal but when I try to pull it up on my Elgato software, it does not show up.
Hm. I'd try turning off HDR, 120 Hz mode and VRR on the PS5 if you can see the menus then to see if any one of those kicks it over.
also if yuou're using 1440p you might have to run 1440p test mode.
If that doesn't at least narror it down the next thing to try would be changing the Input EDID mode to Merged or Internal to try to get the PS5 to use a format compatible with the card
how do i do the edid mode
In the right side pull out in studio (the panel icon for it is up next to the gear icon at the top)
I though it was showing No Signal before?
That looks like it doesn't even see the card, let alone a signal
What motherboard do you have and what PCIe slot did you install it into?
(if you're not sure you can pull up msinfo32 from your start menu and check the baseboard product number and name)
Hm. Manual seems to confirm that port runs at x4 that meets the requirements
If you reboot and go through BIOS can you set the chipset PCIe port to PCIe 2.0 manually? Sometimes I've seen auto mode trip things up
hm. that'd probably be the right menu. Let me see if they have a BIOS manual for that board
Okie dokie
I'm assuming it's the PCIe G4 Link menu
Since the CPU one would be the G5 for gen 5, so 4 is likely the chipset controlled one which is the lower one
The one that’s highlighted?
Yeah
Sorry replies might be delayed a bit, finishing some last minute chores so I'm back and forth a bit
All good
What should I set it to? It’s on auto right now. Should I send it to gen one GEN two GEN three or GEN four
Gen 2
The card is a Gen 2 card, so try that
yeah it was on that originally
wdym
You were having issues with auto?
yeash
Some asus mobos had updates on 12/15
so i should update motherboard driver?
I’d wait for @past basin to test out the pcie lanes
ok
If you have an update it’s going to reset everything in bios
gotcha
I spent 3 hours yesterday tweaking all of mine.
BIOS updates would be a good thing to check
Beyond that try manually installing the driver from https://help.elgato.com/hc/en-us/articles/360027961152-Elgato-Hardware-Drivers
Elgato Hardware Drivers - Windows 10/11A UVC (USB Video Class) device is plug-and-play hardware that uses built-in Windows drivers, eliminating the need for proprietary installations. Devices like ...
Lanes were easy enough, but if I have trouble, I would be in the same boat.
You should also check if the card is actually showing up in Device Manager at all
i already downloaded that btw
Anyone have any idea on why my elgato 4ks is showing crystal clear when recording in elgato studio but when recording in obs it looks fuzzy/blurry? the first image is from obs and the second is from elgato studio 💔
if i remember correctly the capture card should be listed under Cameras in device manager
yeah its not there
Weird
check in usbtreeview to see if the card shows up in there
Hello, I'm streaming my PS5 from my Mac using the Elgato 4KS, but in OBS the sound seems robotic and distorted, while in the Elgato software there are no audio issues. Can you help me?
Sorry crashed earlier. Too many chores, not enough sleep. If your PCIe is configured correctly and you installed both the driver and the Studio app and the card doesn't even show up in device manager, I'd remove and reinstall the card to see if that changes. Some BIOS may also let you see connected devices - if yours does I'd check that. It's behaving like it doesn't see the card, but your motherboard doesn't share lanes on that bottom port, so best guess is connection issue somehow
It's probably running at different resolutions. What are you capturing with it? What's your OBS base canvas resolution?
Gotcha but the weird thing is that I’m still able to switch to the hdmi that my ps5 is on and see it
So I know it has power
Is the card added in as an audio input capture? Is the macs voice isolation mic mode disabled when you run OBS (from the mic icon on the menu bar)
Yeah, the pass through circuit works as long as there's power, even if there's no data
Gotcha
That usually only comes up when the motherboard bifurcated/shares lanes though. You're 100% sure on the model of the board?
Yeah
I have the box
I’ll try uninstalling and reinstalling it later tonight and I’ll lyk how it goes
Thank you for all your help thus far
No worries, best of luck with it
Yes when creating my sources I created a separate audio input for the acquisition card.
The problem of isolating the microphone of the mac may be relevant, I will try by putting it on standard during the day
Thank u for the rep
i have the elgato 4k s thingy set up with my computer and i want to stream it to discord
how do i do that
i tried doing it with virtual camera but discord didnt detect it with obs or with the elgato studio
i could just screenshare the window obviously but then theres ugly stuff around it and i want just the gameplay
like i have it active here but it just loads and then says failed to start camera
did i miss a step
Generally I either use the build in Discord screen share for capture devices, or I use OBS in projector mode and app capture that
oh i forgot you can just stream the device directly
that also isnt working for me though
stream is just loading
and now its a black screen
Make sure you're not still using the card in any other app - only one app at a time can use it
Glad to hear that seems to have fixed it
if only one application can use it does that mean its not possible to record gameplay while also streaming it to discord
i dont think i would ever need to do that just wondering
If you're working that way I'd use OBS. Then use it's projection feature to toss it up in a fullscreen projector and screen capture the projector window with Discord
That way you can still use the OBS record function
Obs is 2560x1440 and elgato studio is also recording inn 2560x1440
alright
one more thing
how do i capture audio with it
i saw this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qQeRDDQO-TA
Hi everyone! 2pc setups are the best, but they also come with their own confusing quirks. It took me some time figuring these steps out when I first got my gear, so hopefully this short video can help you get your setup working without the headaches! If you have any questions be sure to ask them down below!
This video will help you to have aud...
is this the only way to do it?
i dont want to install a 3rd party app if theres an easier way of doing it
i want all the sound to be coming from my computer so i can hear other people in call and also hear the audio from the capture card and the people watching my stream can hear it
Why I'm getting ugly quality do I need a better pc I'm using a mini pc
I just tested your solution and it works properly, thank you
What’s your gpu?
It's a mini pc but ultra hd
Ummm
UHD Graphics integrated
it could be the limits of your cpu while doing a lot.
Can someone answer this
Yea I really wanna do 1080p
OBS or Meld Studio?
I’m using an hd60x connecting to a hdmi switcher for my ps5 and switch 2 when the hdmi switcher is on ps5 audio stutters a lot but audio comes out crisp and clear no issues when it’s switched to my switch 2 anyone knows a fix
Having this exact same issue please someone help me fix this it’s making me go insane https://www.reddit.com/r/elgato/comments/x0i1ga/ps5_audio_issue_does_anyone_know_how_to_fix_this/
Hi, I got a 4K X today for Christmas and have been trying to set it up so that I can passthrough my Nintendo Switch 2 to my PC (I like being able to play via a program so I can use it alongside the rest of my PC, instead of a different HDMI channel on the monitor). I'm struggling to get it to display anything over 60fps on ANY resolution. I'm using the included cables from the card itself, and the USB C is plugged into a 10gbs port on the back of my PC. I don't need to use 4k, only 2k since that's what my monitors are maxed out on. I have tried the 4k Capture Utility, but I also just downloaded the Elgato Studio program and it has the same issues it seems. I've included a few screenshots from my Switch settings and both of the Elgato programs. I've read that these programs might only be capable of 60fps but then I saw conflicting info. I have OBS and am somewhat familiar with it, but I don't know exactly how I'd set it up for a passthrough if nothing else works.
Also, HDR is off on my Switch 2, so that's not the issue here. The video input says 60fps and I really dont know why that would be?
I just want to see the nice frames man 🥺 any help would be appreciated
can anyone help me when i hit configure video on obs elgato doesnt come up just the regular obs box. i need it to switch my audio to aux. (connected to my astro a40s stream output)
ok i figured it out but now the audio on my stream sounds awful when i get shot or shoot bullets
hey everyone just got a 4k Pro and was able to do 4k240hz passthrough to my monitor. Only issue is that in obs I want to record in 4k60fps. How would I go about doing this? Currently stuck at 1080p240
Hello! I’m trying to set up my capture card neo to play my switch on my ipad, but keep receiving no signal when in the elgato capture app. Switch HDMI is hooked up to the HDMI in port, usb-c to usb-c plugged into the ipad, I double checked its USB 3.0.
Which iPad model are you using? Not all iPads actually support USB 3.0 data speeds and it can result in them throwing No Signal errors.
The card has to scaled down capture resolution on anything above 4K60 to keep up - if you want to record in 4K60 you need to set you comptuer up with a cloned/duplicate screen setup with the card instead of passthrough. Basiscally instead of GPU to Capture Card, Capture Card to gaming monitor, hook both the Capture Card and Monitor to different ports of the GPU and clone the screen with Windows Display Settings (or your GPU app) , then in the advanced settings for the virtual monitor of the capture card that shows up, cap the refresh rate to 60 Hz. The GPU will sort out running the monitor and capture card at different refresh rates at that point so the card can get a 4K60 signal to record with, without having to scale down the resolution.
If certain sounds are sounding off, make sure your audio is in stereo / 2 Channel mode. If it's running something like surround sound or 5.1, you can lose directional audio and it'll sound really weird when the audio is supposed to be coming from the front of your like a gunshot, since you'd only actally get the bleedover that's supposed to happen to left and right channels. What sort of device are you recording from?
If that doesn't help make sure there's no noise cancellation on. For a mac, that's the voice isolation mic mode in the mic icon in the menu - make sure that's off. For Windows, that's Windows Audio Enchancements.
Windows Audio Enchancements can be located in one of two places depending on your version and build of Windows.
First, you can check if enhancements are on by going into Windows Settings and checking under System > Sound and find your capture card. Go into it, and check at the bottom for any mention of audio enhancements or spatial audio (usually towards the bottom) and turn them off.
If neither are there, check the old Windows Sound Settings instead. Press Windows Key + R, type mmsys.cpl in the box that comes up and press OK. Go to the recording tab, find the capture card then go to properties. Check for any enhancement or spatial audio tabs and disable anything in there, and check the advanced tab to see if there's any enhancements or spatial audio options to turn off there as well.
Based on your audio hardware, software and Windows version and updates, enhancements could be in either of these locations, both or none. If they're not in any of them, you can assume enhancements are off
The list of Switch 2 titles that actually support 120Hz is really, REALLY short. What games are you actually playing? Switch 2 menus are always 60 fps, and any game that does not Explicitly list 120Hz support is also always going to give you 60 fps on the capture card.
4K Capture Utility is only capabable of recording at 60 fps, though would still give you a source signal report for 120. Elgato Studio is newer and can handle 120 though.
Make sure that down lower in the audio settings your PS5's perferred audio format is set to Linear PCM (aka uncompressed stereo). Any kind of other formatting can result in audio artifacting
Sorry, you got back to me after I'd stepped out for family stuff yesterday.
Assuming you're on a Dual PC setup, and you need to capture the audio, the usual hiccup is that you're going to need to split the audio on your gmaing PC somehow. That's what they're doing there likely with the Elgato Sound Capture utility I assume (I haven't had a chance to check it yet). By basically you're going to need something on the source computer, like Wave Link, Sound Capture or something third party like VoiceMeeter to send the audio to both the HDMI on the capture card, and whatever you're listening to at the same time - essentially splitting a copy off for capture.
If you don't need to listen to it on the gaming PC you can also just set the audio to go entierly to the HDMI audio output that's connected to the capture card - but most people do want to hear the audio on the gaming PC.
There's also solutions like Elgato Wave Cast you could use to send a copy of the other PC's audio over the network instead.
Glad to hear you were able to get it sorted out.
Is OBS set to 1440p in both the canvas settings and the capture card's Video Capture Device source settings? If it's not the same in both settings it would explain the slight blur like it's been rescaled
Intel Integrated Graphics arent't he best for trying to encode video with - but it MIGHT be possible. In OBS what are your encoder settings set to? Also what's the rest of the hardware on the mini PC like, CPU, amount of RAM, etc? I'd suggest testing the encoder settings using the intel QSV encoder if that CPU/iGPU supports it (without knowing the specific model I cannot look that up)
It appears that it's capturing 4k from my pc even though my monitor is only 1440p
Is there a way to change the resolution from the input source?
On the PC? Windows Display Settings or the GPU should let you set the resolution
You can change the presented options by the card by changing EDID modes, but for actually setting it when you're working with a PC, the actual display settings are the most reliable way to go
It says it's set to 1440p on my gaming PC unless I'm missing something
What does it list for "active resolution" if you check the advanced properties?
er, Active Signal Mode
Okay, when it does that I think it has to be adjusted in the GPU app, iirc.
Is it an NVidia GPU?
Yeah. I think it's the scaling options that do that
if you disabling scaling and check the resolution there I think it stops. It's been a while since i've had to adjust it though, but I THINK that's what does it
Hmm weird it seems like there isn't any scaling being done and yet it still says the active signal is 4k
hm
If you turn off the cloning for a moment (set it to extended) does it still give a 4K active signal mode?
I'd like to confirm if it's setting that based on the capture card or the monitor it's cloned with
Yup
Okay, but the actual resolution matches there, so that's fine.
On the streaming computer can you use Elgato Studio and try setting the Input EDID mode to "internal". It'll be in the side panel pulled out by the icon next to the gear up top
Then disconnect and reconnect the HDMI cable to force the PC to redetect modes
And setup the cloning again
Just did it and it seems like again elgato studio is relying on a 4k signal because the preview feed now is 2x smaller
That's because the scaling is disabled now. Which means it's being picky over the settings, or that 4K mode is coming from the monitor it's cloned with. Toggle Custom EDID on there on the right and try setting it to 1440p
(may have to disconnect and reconnect the cable again)
We'll basically have th-e card tell the PC it doesn't support 4k, only 1440p and see if that sorts it out
Ok this looks promising 👀
good thing is that the active signal on the elgato is now 1440p!
That's good at least - we don't really want the performance loss from rendering in 4K and scaling down generally
omg im noticing significantly better fps in games and the recording is super clear in obs now!
Excellent
Sounds like OBS was scaling down the 4K signal - that was scaled up from the computer to start with - so all that was probably blurring it a bit.
Glad it seems to be working as expected now
yess thank you so much you have no idea how much this helped me lmao 🩵
If it was rendering the games in 4K and scaling down I can imagine it helped a good deal. Good luck with it!
I don't know I just started using obs today I have no clue what I'm doing
Can you screenshot your OBS output settings?
Sure
Just realized I need the 4k X to do what I want
ipad air 5th gen with the M1 chip, I double checked it has 3.0 usb
Okay, Neo shipped with a USB-C ot A cable - how are you connecting it to the iPad? If you're using an adapter or replacement cable are you sure the cable is the correct speed of 5 Gbps or faster as well?
I was using the usb-c to usb-c cable that came with my airpod pros, i’ll try a different cable
Ah yeah those wouldn't need much data just charging. Hopefully that's all it is
Hi anymore I just got the HD60X and I am doing a two pc setup why is my audio from my main pc not going through to the streaming pc with OBS?
Thank you for anymore that can help
Audio on the game pc must be routed to the capture card output for that to be recieved via the capture card on the stream PC. What mixer do you have? or are you setting up with card as duplicate display, or between your main display as a passthrough?
i was doing a duplicatre screen should i change it do a diffent thing?
No need to if it's working for you, but with the question about audio, understand that your audio is probably routed to your headphones. So... you need something to send that audio to the capture card as well. A mixer of some kind that will collect audio sources and direct them where they need to go (headphones and capture card)
