This looks liek the GPU is having issues with multi monitor more - either something specific with the card's virtual display or the multi monitor itself. You've mentioned other montors - are they all on the gaming PC? Does removing one help? You could be running into issues with the GPU's mutli monitor bandwidth, especially if VRR is on since the bandwidth would fluctuate then
Everything iv tried within the capture card has not seemed to have an effect. Currently I’m set to merged for input edid and default for internal.
Also just to give an example, ever since the video I sent, the same thing was happening. I hit my power button to shutoff gaming PC, classic “remember to save or X will delete” type of this came up. I hit cancel just to see, and now it’s working fine rn. Didn’t completely restart. I’m sure there’s a chance it will start up again. That’s how this time the flickering and stuff started today - was working probably 20min then started.
I do use that sometimes, also part of why. I use a different color space on the projecting OBS app that makes it look more normal on stream.
All on the gaming.
I’m on a 4090…I doubt this is a bandwidth thing
Depends on what the resolutoin and refresh rate for the other screens are
eg, a scren running 240 Hz is going to eat a lot more data than one running 60. And 4K240 hz will absolutlely destroy avaiable bandwidth for multi monitor applications
But it's an easy test at least - turn down resolution or unplug a display and see what happens
165hz 34in 2k OLED, 144hz 27in 2k (might not be running at 144 rn idk), then a 60hz at 1100x3840
It’s the screen attachment for the Hyte Y70 case - that’s the weird resolution
If that's what it is though, I'd drop the refresh rate on one of your non-primary displays to free up a bit of bandwidth
Or even drop the refresh rate on the card itself
eg set it to 60 Hz if you're only recording 60fps
I just checked, the side 27 is at 165. I’ll drop it to 75.
Wdym?
The card when showing up in extended mode in the display settings of the gaming PC also has a refresh rate where it shows up as a monitor
So you can limit the refresh rate on the capture card's virtual display if it's a bandwidth issue too (assuming you're not actually doing high refresh rate recording)
Oh also the flicker issue absolutely bugs out my monitors settings to hell. Just remembered that I’m going through rn checking and going WTF lol
Will that matter with the projecting?
Yeah - if it's stuggling with multi monitor coverage Windows Display settings will lose it's mind as the rapidly disconnect and reconnect
it shoudln't no
I’ll try lowering it then. I have the refresh rate set to 1440/120.
I had this whole thing the other day, I can’t remember what it was, trying to stream/recording in UW 34in. Pretty sure it was something with the card not being able to take that resolution or something
Might need to mess around and remember what it was
You might need to load a custom EDID to even try it with that resolution. Right now 4K X is the only one with official Ultrawide support (and only Ultrawide, not Super UW yet)
And OBS just stops showing the screen from the capture sometimes after this, even tho the card is detected and everything in both PCs.
It’s just so frustrating man…I got everything setup for how I like it which iv been working on for months, but this is just so impactful.
Might be possibel though - the PCIe cards tend to play better with non standard res than the USB ones
Yeah, I’m not worried. I’ll have it project in normal 2k non-UW to it.
More just a “would have been nice”
Yeah yeah that was it. I needed to switch the projection settings to the UW resolution, but that would force that monitors refresh rate down. I’m pretty sure that’s what it was
So things are worknig with one of the monitors on lower refresh rate? (sorry if I'm reading that wrong, it's late here)
Restarted the PC cause cancelling that last restart made a bunch of background apps not turn back on, and the flickering happening again. Assuming the monitor settings I made saved, which they probably did, it’s still happening
Ur good, it’s 4:30am for me. Tired too
Working rn after another restart, settings did save, I was actually able to check cause no flickering
That's a positive sign at least
er didn't mean to reply/ping that
Tbh it working once doesn’t say anything, if it works consistently over a few days, that’s more.
Normally the “fix” at least temporarily, sometimes long enough for normal game sessions, is restarting the gaming PC, or having it turn on after the recording one. But it still can happen.
And if the gaming pc was to sleep, it might end up doing it again, unsure. Also I do have the monitors set to go dark after 5min of no activity (OLED monitor just to help protect it) so that maybe could too
Na dude feel free to spam ping me 🤣. I’m on discord a ton and keep notifications off, and I’m in around 200 servers, so I only check a server if I’m pinged in it and it’s one I was talking in recently.
Yeah, best bet for now is the monitor it, see if it comes back. That's one of the worst things with these sort of intermittent issues "is if fixed or pretneding?"
Hopefully that's what it was, and the fix holds. I've seen similar hiccups with it in the past, but they're not a common thing to run into, and almost always a pain to track down
Used to be a lot more common when multi display setups were just taking off commonplace and cards couldn't keep up. Still see it more with laptops and docks than full PCs, but as those high refresh monitors take off it's harder and harder to estimage how many you can connect to a given GPU at a time
Hopefully. I’ll hop back in here if it happens again. I appreciate the help!
No worries, good luck with it
My laptop has 2 USB ports, and 1 HDMI port. It’s SAD. And 2 USBC ports, but one of them is a USBC DisplayPort 😭
When I got this PC, it was the first I ever picked the parts for, I made sure I had a ton of ports….even still guess how many powered hubs I have
4? That is what's on mine right now since I have so much connected for troubleshooting
So many wires
Have a tower build in planning with more ports, but it'll be a while
3 😂. 4 is crazy, although I can’t say that since I own an extra and have considered setting it multiple times.
One under my chair, 2 on my desk
Had to get a bigger power bar just for all the AC adapters
I feel this. Man I do feel this. I literally dread moving out of my apartment, even though I won’t need to do that for at least another year and a half
😂 I’m considering buying a 5th one for my room rn. I have 4, the one under my desk is full, the one for my laptop is mostly full but too far from my tower for it to be useful for what I need, and the rest are in other parts of my room
Someday I'll have a place where I can run stuff though the walls. Someday
Same. Someday
Didn’t take long. Can confirm it still happens. Let the monitors go off after 5min, waited a bit, came back, happening again smh
Also can confirm I think this is specific to the capture card. Unplugged one of the monitors, still occurrs
Whoa I just switched the edid internal from default to 3440x1440
Instantly stopped
But the monitor I disconnected still isn’t picked up, restarting and seeing what happens
That might have been the fix…I’ll find out over the next few days
Hi all! ❤️
I recently got a switch 2 and was super excited to get home and stream Bananza to my friends on discord. But when I play using the HD60X, the audio is crackly and the frames sometimes drop even though im capturing it at 1080p60
I'll attach a short clip that can showcase the sound
It does this in 4k capture utility, elgato studio and OBS. I havent really found a program it doesnt do this in
Here's a better example near the middle of this second clip
I’m gonna be honest with you, I was listening to the clips and I’m not sure which sound you’re referring to his audio cracking versus game audio.
could you probably pop in another game for us to hear her so that way we can see if maybe it’s just a game sound as opposed to something else?
I managed to resolve it by plugging the usb into another 3.0 port
it seemed like it was only showing up on my side and not the recording which made it really frustrating
sorry for wasting time 🥹
It’s not a time waster, that’s what we’re here for us to help. I’m glad you were able to resolve it with a different port, as that’s what I would have suggested hopping until we found one that was gonna be ideal.
thank you!! ❤️
Is there any alternative to the 4k capture utility app? It has had the same issues for so long and it just doesnt work.
Does anyone know why my capture card which is inside my streaming pc is picking up like double the digital vibrance it should be? it like multiplies my gaming pc digi vibrance x2
You can simply just utilize OBS or Elgato's new app which is Elgato Studio
Aswell as the colors are more washed out
You might have turned on HDR. HDR tends to wash out the colors unless you have the configuration correct for HDR and an HDR monitor. I would just recommend turning off HDR for now.
Would that be in the 4k capture utility app or?
hi
i have my cpture card HD 60 X on obs as video capture device
but nothing is showing
What are you capturing with it? Does it work with other apps like 4K Capture Utility or Elgato Studio?
yes
HDR would need to be turned off on whatever you're recording to disable it
on 4k capture untilaty
Was 4KCU closed before starting OBS? Only one app at a time can pull video from the card, so if it was still open OBS will get a black screen til you restart it or at least reselect it in the options
no 4kcu was open
Where would that be located in OBS?
do i close obs and 4kcu and open obs
Close it out and restart OBS and with any luck that's all you need, yes
oh i see it now
but how do i get audio?
like before i had it has a window capture but this first time im doing it as video capture
Adding to what was already mentioned, aside from 4K Capture Utility and Elgato Studio, most third part apps work with it such as OBS Studio (already mentioned) Streamlabs Desktop, Meld Studio, Xsplit, etc
OBS can capture audio too, but it adds audio sources with audio monitoring off in case you already hear it - so by default it sends audio only to output (your recordings and stream). Go to advanced audio settings (gear in the audio panel or under the edit menu) and set the capture card's monitor option to "Monitor and Output"
Not what you're recording with, what you're recording - like gaming console, or gaming PC, etc.
Stream should only hear the one
Output there covers stream and recording. Monitoring only goes to you
You can do it from console first, and then in studio or 4K capture utility
Dumb question: Is extending monitors + passthrough hdmi better than duplicating monitors or are they identical (in all terms)
Only do this if you're using HDR if not, cloning is ideal
is there a way to make the capture card only capture the gmae?
Oh! I wouldn’t expect that duplicating/cloning would be superior!
Hello, I am dealing with a bit of an issue with recording. I have an Elgato 4K60 Pro installed in my computer with a 4070ti. I have a PS5 coming out its HDMI port into the capture card. I have an HDMI cable going out of the capture card and into my monitor with a 4K OLED. When I start up the PS5 and I am at the game picker I look at the settings in Elgato studio and I am indeed getting 2160p59 4K UHD. When I start up the game (Last of Us Part 1) it drops to 1080p. HDCP is off on my PS5 and I have manually selected 2160p in the resolution. I have also tried to change the settings in the game to fidelity mode with no luck. I am lost on how to fix this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Now, when I change the game to Stray, I don't have this issue -- I get 2160p59 ... could this be a game issue? The Last of Us part 1 says it supports 4k so that's weird.
hey guys what is the Internal 4K240 EDID do? Is it beneficial if I dual PC with extended mirror to 4K Pro capture card and full projection while playin 240Hz on my gaming PC?
I wonder if anybug can help me? I have an HD60 X that keeps losing capture occasionally when capturing consoles that don't have a native HDMI output (in this case, my PS2 that uses a converter). I assumed it was just an issue when the game changes between cutscenes and gameplay for some reason, but since last stream, it's been cutting out during normal gameplay a lot.
Is this a known issue with the capture card that can be resolved somehow, or will I need to buy a new converter?
hello! anyone knows why i cant connect my switch 2 to my hd60 x?
when i open the capture utility app is says something about a problem with the usb but all the other cables work on my pc
can you send a screenshot
is there a way i can change the text to english? becasue i have it in spanish
did you try a different usb 3.0 port?
yess, all the ones my pc have
did you disable USB Suspend?
mmm what is that? hahaha
it might be the converter, sometimes they don't play nice with a capture card.
Open Control Panel: Search for "Control Panel" in the Windows search bar and open it.
Navigate to Power Options: Click on "Hardware and Sound," then "Power Options".
Choose your plan: Select the power plan you are currently using (e.g., Balanced, Power Saver) and click on "Change plan settings".
Access Advanced Settings: Click on "Change advanced power settings".
Locate USB Settings: Expand the "USB settings" category, then expand "USB selective suspend setting".
Disable USB Selective Suspend: Under "Setting," select "Disabled" from the drop-down menu for both "On battery" and "Plugged in" (if applicable).
Apply Changes: Click "Apply" and then "OK" to save the changes.
just make sure the monitor doesn't have DSC on it. That might cause issues.
this game at max does 4k 60, so you need to turn off VRR and 120HZ for it to behave some games are like this, not all.
what else is is capturing?
Yeah that worked! Thank you!
you're welcome.
okay i did it. now i try to connect everything?
just start with the capture card mouse and karboard, and speakers.
anything else might be causing a drop in power bandwidth
mmm still the same:/
the only thing that changed its that on settings, it showsa me the video input. before it sais no signal
I changed the input and I see my Nintendo but
In the app I can’t see it so I can’t stream it I think
A problem has been detected in USB communication. Reconnect your elgato hd60 x to a usb 3.0 port
thats what the app says
Is this a laptop or a desktop
desktop
do you know what motherboard you have
Is your USB to your capture card plugged into the motherboard (back of the PC) or the front of your case
the back one
what color is the USB port
they are all grey black. but i try to put it into all the usb ports
there is one blue in the front of the case and i also try to connect it there
it needs to go into a 3.0 port which are blue
you have 2 3.0s in a Type A form in the back
let me try agin
ohhh yeees. now i see it on the app
and now i should be able to stream it in obs like i nornally do?
also you know why controllers dont respond? like i cant move or do anything haha
yeah just be aware that USB cards like the HD60 X cannot have multiple apps using the same capture device. So make sure you only have OBS open and not have 4K Capture Utility or Elgato Studio open
What controller are you trying to use with the Switch
oh so what do i do, i open obs but how do i do it if i cant have the utilty app open as well?
Add it as a video capture device source in OBS
the joycons
oh okay. and the audio i dont need to do anything else? it captures the ausio as well of my consoles?
Yeah OBS is setup to easily work with Elgato devices and only needs you to add the video capture device, it should show up in your audio mixer in OBS after adding the source
i will try it rn. Just do you know how do make the joycon work? because i cant do anything
Is this the JoyCon 2 that came with your Switch 2?
yes. they work okay its just knoiw with the capture card i think that dont work
capture card won't make a difference, they still connect wirelessly
have these joycons have been attached to the console before at least once
yes i use them a lot to play
do they work wirelessly whilst in handheld mode?
yes
im using it now
i think they are not working because i try it with other ones i have and it works
and one more thing... what is better. having a capture card inside the pc or like the one i have, the hd60 x
USB capture cards like the one you have are way better for portability, but if you're just at a desk a PCIE card could be a better choice as they can have faster latency, can be used in multiple apps at once, and save you a USB port. What you have now is fine, I wouldn't rush for a PCIE card honestly
I personally was lucky to grab a 4K60 Pro Mk.2 for $50
okay, thanks a lot for all the help i really appreciate it!!!
dang..... should i get the Rog $1200 monitor then 🙁 😮
nooo just realized my 4090 is display 1.4a ==
Do you have a recommendation on a component to HDMI adaptor that works best with elgato?;;
I did see somebody previously bought a converter for their Xbox and it worked. So I’ll probably have to look in like a previous chat or something and see if I can find that for you. If not, I would also say make sure that you’re researching online.
It seems I’m not the only one who tries to justify a cost for something new. I would say if you were planning on getting a new monitor that’s entirely up to you on that purchase. However, I’m sure there’s a way to make things work.
ok here is my setup and i been encounter split screen lately (not too often but it happened every once in awhile)... and I think it might due to DSC...
Gaming PC (HDR) is 4K 240 DSC that connect to Streaming PC through the 4K Pro
The Gaming PC (4K240) setup is extending mirror to 4k Pro virtual monitor (4K 60; no HDR); OBS is opened and dragged to 4K Pro where it then fullscreen projected
The Streaming PC setting for Elgato 4K capture is Bypass, Internal, 4K240 with two checkbox HDR turned off; OBS opened and received the 4K Pro external screen with setting: 4K, 60fps, limited color, XRGB. Stream is 1080 60fps while recording is 4K60....
Please let me know what setting i should tweak to prevent split screen 🙁
my streaming PC built is: 5080, Rog Strix z890e mb, Intel Core Ultra 9
What do you mean by Split Screen? Do you have a screenshot?
I think it's the screen tearing like a half and half issue
more common in the 46 60 MK.2 sometimes depending on the edid
That's bizarre on an extended screen setup. Might be Vrr/G-Sync/Freesync issues or a cable problem, or bad EDID - but they should be on an internal EDID for extended screen dual setup like that
I was more curious as I didn't see tearing mentioned in what I thought was the intial post
I'm taking notes as well. granted, i haven't had any issues doing this method, but then again I also had mine set to internal, or display depending on needs. ex: projection mode in OBS internal, console/PC duplicate-clone Display
One day Windows I hope will let me toggle HDR in clone mode.
Hopefully it works better than their multi app implementation for UVC
Hey folks, trying to get my new 4K X set up, but not haing much fun...Console boots as normal, TV switches channel, but no picture.
I switch back to computer channel on the TV (to which the 4K X is connected) and poen Elgato Studio. 4K X shows in top left, next item flips between 2160p59 (4K UHD) and 2160p (4K UHD). If I click this source, it flip flops back and forth between "Input Source not Detected" and "PlayStation 2160p59", "PlayStation 720", the whole range, but I never get a picture. I am using the cables that came with the brand new Elgato 4K X and PS5 Pro, and am connected to the PC on a USB-C USB4 port. Any ideas or help?
Only way I can even play Playstation right now is to just cut the Elgato out of the loop and plug the PS5 Pro directly into the TV...
did you turn off HDCP?
I did not, I shall give that a go...
they should just stop that. lol

24H2 and newer is kinda a mess. I've still got my registry editied to pin me on 23H2
HDCP is off, still no video to TV through 4kX, and no capture on card.
is IN connected to the console, OUT to the TV?
correct
are you connected to a usb 3.2 or 3.1, or 3.0 port on your pc?
hold up, just had video through the card, but couldn't switch back to channel...one min
make sure the input on the tv is the correct one
all working, few bugs to iron out, but it seems to be behaving itself now. Thanks for your help!
you're welcome!
yep like a four quadrant division corners of the screen
Did you set the EDID to display?
display EDID compatible with G-sync/vrr?
Hello I have a Canon M200 connected to a 4k Cam Link. I'm trying to figure out what resolution and frame rate the Camera is sending to the capture card. How do I do that?
Currently I'm running https://webcamtests.com/ and regardless of the setting on the Canon it's claiming a frame rate of 31FPS and a resolution of 3840x2160 (4k)
Test your webcam online to check if it is working properly and find out useful information about it
So is the cam link upscaling I guess?
I'm running the 4k capture utility. Currently the source is 2160p23 and the capture is 1080p25.... why isn't it doing 4k?
ohh ok that's just a setting... the source is 4k at least... but what is the output of the capture card? Is that defined by whatever device is connected to it like OBS?
What dictates the output resolution and fps of the 4k capture card? Is that a setting I can set or is it negotiated by the client device like OBS?
hi, i have an elgato neo capture card and for some reason the sound that i hear through my headphones from the monitor has random stutters, like im playing guitar hero and then in the middle of the song the sound goes quiet for a split second and goes back to normal, this is happening repeatedly and its frustrating, it only happens when the ps2 is going through the elgato
when im recording the issue is unheard, but it bothers me since im playing a rhythm game and i need to hear 100% of the audio going through to my headphones
when i listen to the sound of the game by turning on listen to this device on sound properties then there's no stuttering, but that also generates a small delay, and makes the ps2 guitar hero games unplayable since you can not calibrate the audio in the older games
this is what's happening to me, listen at around 5 seconds in
that sudden pause in the audio is ticking me off
It should be in the HDMI settings in the camera's menus. 4K Capture'
4K Capture Utility's Capture Resolution is set on the recording tab of settings
(or if you're using OBS you can set it to default and it'll usually match what comes from the camera as best it can, or you can select it in the source properties with custom resolution options - though the original source is still set by the camera itself)
Displa EDID pulls the EDID straight from a display in the the HDMI Out port of the capture card. If that display supports VRR tech like G-Sync, then it should pull through - there is a chance it'll select a VRR spec that is out of range of what the card supports though as it's pulling the EDID from the displau without merging meaning the EDID doesn't care what the card's own EDID compatibility is (usually there's more than enough overlap that this isn't an issue though)
Generally I would not listen to captured audio for a rhythm game for the same reason you'd want to play it on passthrough not through preview - there's a video processing delay as the card converts the video to something you can use and renders it on screen. On modern cards this delay is very short, say 30ms for a 1080p source - but that can still be noticeable in high reaction games like Rhythm games. Ideally I'd listen through a headset connected to the console, though for PS2 you might need an audio extractor or something.
Overall though that sounds like it might be a stutter from sample rate catching up if it's not set correctly (though it can be a few other things) - what app are you using for capture? Also you say that stutter doesn't show up in the recordings?
im not using OBS or the audio from it to play the game, my headphones are plugged to my monitor, and its when the game is connected to the elgato neo that this audio stutter thing happens, i tried plugging the console directly to the monitor and the audio issue was gone
I normally try not to message on discord for tech support but figured i'd send a hail mary to fix this. I got a 4k60Pro mk2 and it's not being detected. I can see it's receiving power.
Supposedly all my nmve slots are fair game (except 4) and won't disable my pcie slot. I even checked if it's an pcie 3 x4 slot to make sure it's compatible.
No dice. and still reads as cannot find device on ElGato studio
I even removed my nvme drives just as process of elimation to find the error here
My motherboard is a MAG-Z690-TOMAHAWK
HI. I have no where else to turn. I'm on Mac OS and using the 4K X to capture game. Audio is popping in and out really bad. Stuttering. I've tried using the Elgato Studio Software and OBS. Same effect. Just stuttering and popping? I am plugged directly to the Mac studio and no hub. I tried with Merged and Display and drivers/firmware is up to date
Could use some advice here. Dual PC setup, obs projection technique.
HD60X
Black screen on OBS. Same issue occurs no matter the app I try sharing. Resolution on device capture matched what I want it to be and what the Elgato 4K is. Also tried activating and deactivating, and plugging and unplugging.
Also happens when 4K software is off.
Hello
Don't run 4K Capture Utility at the same time -while testing. Only one app can run the card at once and OBS only initialized during startup or when switching devices settings. So you'd have to close 4KCU and actually restart OBS to get it to pick up
Did you restart OBS after closing 4KCU?
Yo I might need some help I can't find where I posted my issue at
What are you tyring to capture with the card? What audio is it set to? Eg trying to use something like Dolby Digital will distort the captured audio.
Check the BIOS settings and try setting the PCIe directly to a version like PCIe 2 or 3 instead of auto select. In rare cases auto select results in settings issues.
Passthrough audio to your monitor generally shouldn't be affected by going through the card. What capture card do you have and what is the Input EDID mode set to?
The issue is man my mic audio isn't going through, the game audio I was able to get that to work. The mic audio tho is curse man won't go through, got a Xbox series X, Mac, and using OBS, elgato
Yep that was it I’m an idiot. Thank you. How do I keep forgetting that.
No worries, glad you got it sorted!
Seriously iv made that mistake like 10 times now and not figured out why till someone reminds me of that 😂
Xbox doesn't play your mic audio back for the capture card to pick up outside mic monitoring when using an analog setup. It's not really designed to make it so you hear yourself and the capture card only gets the audio that's played back to you. Generally you'd add an additional mic on the streaming computer for mixing your own voice back in, and for increased quality and control
It happens - the fact you actually have to restart OBS or reselect the card in the source properties it's really intuitive.
Okay so is it hookup a mic to obs / laptop, use gaming mic for Xbox, and I'm assuming it will play back my friends talking, just not my mic?
Pretty much - though without a Chat Link or other external splitter you can only configure it for Game Audio and Official Party Chat- in game chats like proximity and lobby, or on console discord sessions can't be split to go over HDMI while a headset is in use.
(and Xbox is the only major console that can even split that much without external hardware)
So if I get that 20 el gato thing at Best Buy or whatever, all my issues are solved, besides still having to hookup a mic to my Mac
20$
And thank you
Pretty much - ideally get the Chat Link Pro version - I've seen some Best Buys still selling the original. The Original doesn't have a ground loop isolator which means if you charge the controller while using it, it'll porbably pick up an electrical buzz. Once you have CLP, set the card to Analog audio mode using Elgato Studio or Capture Device Utility to switch it over
I got one controller so it'll be good, but I like this and ima get it somewhere, the fresh one loop things. Once my streams get big ima hire you to help out with whatever I come across. Once you think you bought everything maaaaan you gotta buy one more thing
I will say tho the chat link pro has horrible reviews 😅
Thanks for responding. I just tried while you had responded to move the USB to a different port on the mac studio and then I moved it to my dock and BAM it worked. It must be something with the USBC 4 ports on the mac studio, because everything works fine now
I'd hazard a guess a good chunk of that is people not realizing it doesn't split mic based on how often that issue comes up.
Ah could be - I know the Mac Mini M4s had some USB quirks a while back too.
Glad you've got it working!
Is there a better alternative, or a way to do this without buying something else lol
If you only need the main game audio and official party chat, and already have a mic for the computer you don't need the Chat Link Pro. Otherwise you need any kind of external solution to split the main headset audio, with Chat Link being the usual cheapest option.
Thanks!
The mic for the laptop is for me, for my friends where will they have to go, thank you
Hello, I am using the elgato 4k capture utility software and the audio in volume mixer for this app does not save, when i reopen the software the volume mixer is set back to 100% and its really annoying, is there any fix for this?
I’m running the hd60x and 2 pcs and for the life of me can’t get the audio over to the other pc looking for help
I'll try again. I'm genuinely lost because just to see if it's even working I put it in my pce1 slot
And I don't see the device in device manager
I guess I'll just issue the return process
For workarounds If you have a compatible capture card, try switching over to the new Elgato Studio which is set to replace 4K Capture Utility, if not you can use OBS Studio as an alternative
Just to make sure it's not something simple, do you have the drivers installed? https://help.elgato.com/hc/en-us/articles/360027961152-Elgato-Hardware-Drivers
Yeah I did the whole process through the trouble shooting pages
Im just going to assume it’s a driver issue. I see there’s power to it as the lights on. No pass through at all and doesn’t appear as a device still
Hi, just want to know the right motherboard to buy on which, the 4K X works flawlessly. Need input from users using 4K X without any issues.
Just sold my B450 Tomahawk max II, which had so many issues with 4K X, and didn't had the 10Gbps Type-C port as well.
You don't specifically need a Type C port on the motherboard
just a 3.2 gen 2 USB connection
Are you looking to stay on the AM4 chipset?
@maiden jay^
Well no, I'd want to switch to AM5 now as I just sold my AM4.
Yeah you're right, it doesn't specifically need a USB C with those speeds but I want to use the supplied cable which is a USB C to C
I was using a USB C to A on a 3.1 gen 2 port and it was giving me issues
Yeah built-in wifi would be a plus
Haven't finalized on the budget, but yeah not gonna spend as much as X670 or X870, my gaming PC is already running a X670
The first result on PC Part Picker seems promising already
It's the Asus PRIME B650-PLUS WIFI board
10gbps is 3.2 Gen2, idk why they don't just say the version
Yeah but Elgato has specific preference with USB manufacturer as well. Not too sure how I'm gonna check that.
wdym? like the actual USB chipset brand?
Although my last port, which was a 3.1 gen 2 was fine, but they said the USB manufacturer makes a difference too, not too sure about that as most of the manufactures don't mention USB manufacturers.
Exactly!
that's kind of a stretch, I'd only worry about the bandwidth with too many high bandwidth USB devices plugged in
Anyone? I just want to be able to record my friends audio too but I'm not sure where he has to join if my mic is connected to laptop obs
Hey everyone, I've been trying to find a source to help me with this issue with my capture card but to no avail. I have an Elgado HD60X capture card and I've had it for a while now with barely any issues.
Out of no where I noticed the video and audio capture started to blink in and out. as soon as I unplugged the USB-C cable and plugged it back in, I got a blinking red light which later changed to a purple light.
Web searches have said that this means its doing an update, but on the 4K Capture Utility application, it says that no capture device can be found.
Does anybody know how to fix this?
Ok now as I just finished writing this, the capture card shows a blue light, but the 4K application is still not showing any capture card devices. Any ideas?
Would anyone happen to know how to fix the sound delay in Elgato Studio? I have HDMI output sound but there is a delay in the audio when playing the game.
What capture card are you using?
4kpro
How much sound delay are you seeing roughly? There can be a couple different causes.
If you use an app like USB Tree Viewer - https://www.uwe-sieber.de/usbtreeview_e.html - Do you see the capture card show up on the list on the left? If so does it show any errors?
That depends on where you're listening to your friends to - but they will generally get picked up via Chat Link or other splitter device as they should be part of the audio the console sends out for you to hear. Only your own mic doesn't work like that
If using official Xbox party chart and game audio only (not other in game voice chats), they'll be mixed into the HDMI audio if you turn off the option on the xbox that mutes speakers when a headset is connected and set Party Chat audio to Headset & speakers
Probably a second or so
Actually just connected the USB-C cable to a different port on the back of my computer and it fixed the issue. No worries. Thank you.
Glad to hear you've got it sorted!
Do you get that same delay if you use 4K Capture Utility instead? There's not really much to Elgato Studio for config that should add anywhere near that much delay.
Best Buy is stupid I went there to buy a new Xbox mic and they said all their good mics are online, tf?? What's the point of a physical store if I still wait for shipping, anyway I got a astors a20s, the only good one they had hopefully it works
What port is the 4K X connected to? It needs to be a USB 3.2 Gen 2 connection for the best results
Can someone help me I have 4k60 pro mk2 i am using elgato studio to directly play games on the app the problem is there is this weird stutter around every 30 seconds and it is ruining my gameplay
Does anyone know a fix for this
Hello, I'm trying to understand something. Whether it's with the HD60S that I've had for about 6 years or the 4KS that I just got, I don't see any lag between the HDMI on my screen and what's displayed on my computer at first. But the longer I let the capture run, the more noticeable the lag becomes, especially with the audio. I have to reset it about every hour to avoid a major delay. It's pretty annoying and I'd like to understand why this happens and, if possible, how to fix it.
Thank you!
Hello there 🙂 I just get a Cam Link 4K and I want to Connect my Sony ZV-E10 ii with HDMI. In Caméra Hub I see CAM LINK. But no signal. (My Caméra work with HDMI On TV). I am on 1080p on Setting. But nothing.
It is. I just don’t understand why it’s doing this and don’t know what to do
Is it known that the internal HDR to SDR tonemap on the 4K X is bad and immensely overblown in bright scenes?
I'll raise a ticket about it with some comparison Screenshots, but no matter where (obs, 4k capture utility, or the not-even-feature-parity Elgato Studio software) bright areas in games are just super bright (E.g. snow areas or clouds in Mario Kart World)
The only fix I found is to use P010 and Rec. 2100 PQ in obs with an HDR Override for SDR: maxRGB to SDR Input Maximum 1000 nits and SDR Output Maximum 500 nits
but I think that uses a good chunk more cpu usage since obs has to do the tonemapping and processing of a 10bit source vs. having it done on the capture card
I can post some example screenshots in here as well in a bit if needed
have you tried an LUT for HDR instead?
Instead of the override you mean?
I am kinda forced to do the HDR tone Mapping override otherwise I can't apply anything else since it's an HDR source, not an SDR source
I've tried at least 20-30 different LUTs and thye all make it way too saturated, and also overblown in the sky area (clouds) or bright areas (snow)
Elgato vs. the HDR override in OBS which looks much closer to what I see on my HDR monitor
And this is Mario Kart World for example
left side once again being Elgato's internal tonemap
I've tried HDR Override, I think you have a better outcome than I have. This looks great. I ended up creating an HDR to SDR LUT. I guess it dpeneds on the game.
I also know that it's not a simple "oh just turn hdr to sdr" toggle, there's more than that of course. Especially the whole "crushing 10bit down to 8bit" and it never looking 1:1 😄
But yeah, as said it just looks really wrong
yeah, i understand. I'm hoping the metadata will be included, but I'm curious what HDR updates will roll out.
Is there anything in the pipeline already that I've missed by any chance in some news post? Or should I go ahead and open a support ticket with this concern?
Just so I know whether it's maybe already tracked internally hehe
IDK, I'm a cumminity memeber like you. Elgato can't comment on future products/software features. However, you can send in a #feature-request
Yeah I remember this is mostly a community-helps-community Discord (I mean, as indicated by the category this channel is in haha)
I'll definitely be doing that then, maybe they'll look at the internal tonemap/s again
Could be that they might've tested against certain games or footage and that looked fine and most users probably are just like "Oh, that's how it's supposed to look like"
I know there was one person who was really upset about the greens. I totally understand. That's why I don't use the HDR tonemapping via software, and use OBS only for that. Meld Studio isn't there yet, but once they do have it, i'll be testing footage.
And again - I don't envy them. If it was easy then I wouldn't even bring this up as it would "Just work ™" 😄
P010 is as close as it's going to get, along with HDR Override.
for now.
Yeah but that's still software
The thing about the content, is not a lot of people will know it's HDR because of the metadata
So in theory that should also be possible on the internal tonemap if they're willing to bring out a firmware update with changes
so I stay with SDR for now.
depending on the back end of things, and devs. idk...
elgato neo, idk what EDID mode means
I'm pretty sure the hardware tonemap is fixed, and possibly part of the chipset not loaded in firmware. The in app one could maybe be updated since 4K Capture Utility overrides the hardware tonemap by default already when running.
Also if you're working with the Switch 2, is it working okay on a display in the HDMI OUT? If there's no HDMI OUT connected display don't forget to adjust the Switch's secondary HDR config - they made that step of calibration way too easy to miss. Most people didn't realize it was there for like the first week which made getting brightness right a mess.
EDID is basically a list of display data the monitor or capture card sends to connected devices telling them what modes are available.
It's set in the device tab of 4K Capture Utility settings. Display uses the EDID from the display itself, Internal uses the one from the card, and merged tries to merge the two (but may not be 100% successful which is why we have the other two available). I'd try Display and Internal and see if either one of them correct the audio output format since audio modes are also included in the EDID info.
Elgato studio works great, but when using window capture in obs to capture that video, it is just a white screen. Yk of a solution to this?
I use multistreaming on different platforms, so I need something to capture the video (via elgato studio, 4k capture utility etc) to then be capture by my streaming apps
Oh, fixed it. Game capture works, window capture does not
Thanks for the recommendation on Elgato Studio!
4k capture utility was driving me mad
hey so I got a switch 2 and its showing a black screen on my elgato help would be appreciated
Interesting, haven't seen that option. Will give that a go
Also unfortunate, was hoping Firmware Update could be including a change to it...
Another user on the OBS discord mentioned issues with ps5 so I'm not sure if there's settings there to adjust it, too, perhaps
Hey, I'm trying to transfer video from my PC to my laptop using an Elgato HD60 S+. I can get the video using the Elgato Studio app, but what do I need to do to also get the microphone audio?
Hey guys
I have some weird issue. When I am in the lobby of BO6 or R6S, I have these horizontal lines flickering in my gaming PC monitor
If the streaming PC is on and I open Tiktok live studio, sometimes the flickering appears in the streaming PC monitor in Live studio. Or it suddenly disappears there and comes back to my gaming PC monitor. It cannot be in 2 places at the same time. It also happens when only gaming PC is on. Once I find a match and start playing, the flickering stops. Any idea why this keeps happening in these 2 games specifically?
Here is a video
Ok i have a hd 60 x I got the sound and the screen to my pc up to my laptop but not the game im playing to play on my live how do I get that to work
I need help with my 4k s if anyone wouldnt mind helping
It's best to describe your issue to get a quicker answer
Got the video working from Xbox to streamlabs and every thing now i have everyone's audio being picked up but mine and i have the chatlink hooked up iv check all the Xbox settings iv done the hard restarts as well as i have windows 11 and i did the updates
chatlink doesn't pick up your mic, just your party chat and gameplay
you'll need another microphone for your PC's end
iv seen videos where it picks up everyones audio as well as it has a spot for a plug mic
i have use this to pick up all audi on the razer ripshaw just now having isssue on this elgato
It's not wired to split the mic, it only splits the audio out from the console - if you check the ends one is a TRRS plug that goes to the console which has 4 contacts including the mic, the other is a TRS plug with only 3 contacts, no mic, meant for the TRS plug in a stereo line in jack. If you heard your voice before Xbox mic monitoring was probably on, but that doesn't generally get loud enough to be useful. Passive cables like Chat Link Pro cannot amp the mic feed for splitting -generally you have a dedicated streaming mic you mix your voice back in with, which also provides better quallity and control, but if that's not an option you'll need a powered device like a Xbox compatible MixAmp that can amp and split the mic.
The only plug on it is for your headset, and that only passes mic to the console, since the PC end is TRS only.
So whatever video you were watcing they skipped over something if you were left with the impression it can split the mic too
So this is a dual PC setup? Buy the sounds of it you hooked this up as a cloned display setup but left the card in extedned display mode where it shows as a cmopletely difference second screen. Clone your main screen to the card using Windows Display Settings
Is your mic on the gaming PC instead of the streaming PC? If so you'll need some sort of mixer to do it easily like Wave Link or Voicemeeter. You can also use Windows Listen To feature to go into Windows Sounds settings (mmsys.cpl) and set the mic up to be listened to on the HDMI out or 3.5mm out you're feeding to the streaming PC with the main computer audio (though you lost a lot of control this way since it's just all or nothing and no on the fly volume sliders).
It would help to know what specific capture card model you're usinig. Also is there a screen in the HDMI Out port of the capture card, and if so does that get a signal from the Swtich 2? What resolution and features have you tried turning on, on the console?
ok thank you i am new to this ill try to see if i know how to do this lol
Can you help me with configuration?
I ordered my capture card last night
Nice what model?
The s one
So 4k s
Yep
I have no idea how to set it up
Cuz my Nintendo switch will be docked and my laptop isn’t super close to my switch
You can download the software in the meantime
Did that already
Oh ok and I’m sure it comes with an hdmi cable with the card so plug the hdmi that came with your switch into the 4k s and then plug the hdmi cable that is plugged into your tv/monitor into the pass through port on the card and also make sure that there is a usb 3.x port on your laptop and then you can tune the settings however you want once you get the card and unlock the software
So basically switch hdmi into 4k s, tv hdmi into pass through port on 4k s, plug the card into a 3.x port, and then tune the settings (make sure to turn off hdr on either switch or the card can’t remember which one)
Note that if you have to go a distance a longer HDMI cable is more likely to work than a longer USB. USB 3.0 cables won't go past 10 ft without specialty stuff like active cables with repeaters or repeaters that convert to fibre or the like. HDMI cable distance can usually go about 15-25 ft for HDMI 2.0 with a good cable (longer with reapaters or optical conversion). For lower spec requirements you could even hit 50ft in some setups.
Hey everyone. Hope you're all doing well. I use a 4KX with a PS5. Game audio comes through wave link perfectly but how do I get in game chat please? Is a chat link cable necessary?
For PS5, if you're using a headset, Chat Link or at least another external splitting solution is needed, yes. PS5 does one audio feed per user, so if you connect a headset it mutes the HDMI audio, and if you force HDMI audio back on it mutes the headset (with the exception of Voice Chat which is always forced to headset when one is connected). The end result is you've got to split the audio going to the headset if you want to capture voice chat. Chat Link Pro is probably the most cost effective way of doing this - the biggest limit being it's a passice cable and only splits the audio out from the console, meaning you need an additioanl mic for the computer to mix your own voice back in. You could also opt for some Mixamps or mixers if you need to use the headset mic.
Can Elgato HD60X work with this app called HutScene https://apps.apple.com/us/app/hutscene-streamer/id1450213912? yes or no
You like playing games, but why stop there. With HutScene Streamer you can broadcast your skills and let others enjoy seeing you playing directly from your iPhone or iPad. Let them chat with you and participate in your games.
HutScene Streamer is two apps in one. Not only you can live stream your…
If you want to live stream from an iPad with a capture card, use camo studio
They have a iPad 10 - it's USB 2.0 speed port, and can't work with HD60 X.
Though the new 4K S has some USB 2.0 support, I'm unsure if it's supported by iPad
Nvm it doesn’t even exist in Sweden
Sup, so I recently got the 4K S+ for myself, but it appears not working on 4K Capture Utility, but it does work on Elgato Studio and OBS.
I would use either, but I prefer 4K Capture utility for the convenience reasons.
Thank you. My headset is connected via the XLR dock so I do not have a headset connected to the PS5. I am getting my game audio through the 4KX added as a source in wave link.
Assuming you mean the 4K S, then that's correct, it is designed for use with Elgato Studio, not 4K Capture Utility. 4KCU hasn't had an update since launch of the new card so won't recognize it, if they even plan to add that feature. It should still work fine with other apps like OBS Studio or Meld Studio though, too.
I can't recall if PS5 will force voice chat to the Dualsense or allow it over HDMI in that situation
Thats unfortunate, cuz on the website it says it should work
That's the much older discontinued 4K60 S+ not the new 4K S
🙁
Thanks, I'll try figure out how to add a love commentary into it without the use of obs for local recordings
have a 4k60 pro and all of a sudden audio is not coming through into obs via the 4k60. ive tried new hdmi cable, reinstalling the software and reinsatlled obs studio and still no audio... any other ideas?
What are you capturing with the card?
So I could run a 3.5mm out from the controller and into my line in on the PC possibly? I'll give that a shot. Thank you.
That would be how Chat Link works, so should in theory work fine. You may need to add a ground loop isolator if the PS5 controller is plugged into power at the same time to prevent a buzz from ground loops
Though it may force you to use the DualSense for the mic since standard aux will show up as a headphone to the controller
video and audio... was working fine up until i noticed yesterday audio from game pc not coming through
Ah - I mean what device. But a second PC it is.
How is the audio split on the gaming PC? Software mixer? Or just sending all audio to the streaming PC?
software mixer... beacn... adn i can see that the "audience mix" that is being put out to the 2nd pc is working. but cannot verify that it is "being heard" on the 2nd pc
gaming pc hdmi to 4k60 pro which is installed on the stream pc. That is how the audio has always come in. Ive tried another cable, etc, but for some reason its not pulling audio from what i can see. Is ther a way in the software to see if the audio is being heard coming through from tthe gaming pc?
Okay so there's no mixers or anything, you're just sending all audio to the streaming PC with HDMI Out on the gaming PC as the default device?
If that's how it's setup you can check if the output device is seeing audio by going to windows sound settings (mmsys.cpl) and on the playback section find the HDMI OUT you're using and make sure the volume indicator is moving.
Before you go too far though, have both PCs been restarted?
yep shut off each night
ive also restarted both multiple times after reinstalling the elgato driver and software for the 4k60 as well as beacn on the gaming pc
alright thanks for the help on the mmsys.cpl... was able to send test sound via the 4k60 and the noise showed up in obs... so its something else it looks like and i can eliminate the issue being from the 4k60... appreciate the help!
Ah glad that points you in the right direction at least.
Does the HDMI out there still have the green circle indicating it's the default output?
i have system as my default. and this is how i have always had it... so wondering if its something else in there i need to set... waiting on beacn support right now as im betting its an issue with something with that defaulting
I'm missing context here - what System?
I'm guessing a channel in your Beacn software?
my capture card is connnected to my pc and i have the pc set to redirect the audio through my speakers however the audio is delayed, how do i fix it?
no im not using obs to listen
How delayed are you talking? The audio feed should be synced to the video feed by the capture card. The Video feed has a few milliseconds of delay for video conversion (the amount varied based on system, app and what card you're using). If it's only a few milliseconds you're dealing with a hardware level delay that keeps the audio and video in sync (this does NOT sync with the video coming out of the passthroguh port that bypasses all the processing so can wind up with the audio being delayed enough to be noticeable on some setups).
Hi im having an issue with upscaling with my hd60 x
i would apprciate some help
i have input to the monitor from my switch but when i try to capture in OBS it keeps telling me im trying to upscale
ive checked which resolution and framerate im on and cant figure out what its upscaling
ive tried all different resolutions
checked to see if any other app was using the elgate
and nothing has worked
elgatos software says the capture output is at 720p
but the input being sent to the monitor says its the usual 1080p60
and im pretty sure im using a usb 3.0 port
it has the blue bar
im not sure why it says im not using a 3.0
ok im technically using a 3.1 port
navigate to the settings and make sure your elgato studio is up to date
I've been using my Elgato FaceCam and HD60x for a while now and decided to get another FaceCam for another angle. Problem though, I only have 2 USB 3.0 ports... Are there any solutions for this like a splitter or a different port or am I stuck using 2 products at a time?
Just 2? Most pcs should’ve came with at least 4 3.x ports
My pc has a lot of 3.x ports
Likely a laptop. Not uncommon for a laptop, especially a standard non-gaming RGB one, to run only a couple ports these days. That said they've posted on the reddit too, where I already gave them a rundown on hubs and the warning that they're not officially recommended.
The image you're seeing there with the QR code is generated by the capture card - that's where 720p is coming in, the error display is 720p.
If you follow the QR code it'll tell you this error usually shows up in 2 cases - you're running a capture app set to a higher resolution than the input source, or you are not getting a full 5 Gbps USB 3.0 connection. GIven Studio is outright warning you you're on a USB 2.0 connection at the top, you have a USB connectivity issue. If you've already checked the port, make sure you're using the original cable or one rated for at least 5 Gbps, and under 10 ft, and that you're plugged right to the USB port, no cables or adapters connected that could slow it down (USB Type A to C adapters are a common issue here as most are only USB 2.0).
If you are using the original cable check for signs of damage or dirt to any of the connectors
True like MacBooks
USB ports aren’t a problem for my since I have a tower pc
Yeah, I'm on a laptop myself because I used to travel a lot for work. I have 3 powered USB 3.0 hubs and a USB4 hub setup at this point and I'm still running out of ports 🙁 (At least my laptop has multiple USB controllers to split the bandwidth, which is not that common)
I wish! I only got 2, plus a 3.2 USB C port. Would the usb c port work if I got a different cord?
It will, yes. Just make sure the cord is rated for the right speed - there's a lot out there that are aimed at charging and will only do USB 2.0 / 480 Mbps.
For HD60 X and Facecam both, aim for 5 Gbps USB 3.0 or faster
hi yall !! been having an issue withs specifically elgato studio where after a period of time of using it, the frame rate dips quite low. it returns to normal when i close and reopen but was wondering if there was any known fix for that? thanks in advance!!
the 4k capture utility doesnt have this issue but the studio ui is a lot cleaner so i prefer using it 🥹
Awesome, thanks so much!
For some reason my HD60 Pro is only running at PCIe1.0x1 speed instead of PCIe2.0x1. I have tried reinstalling the Elgato drivers as well as updating my BIOS and any chipset drivers among other things. The PCIe slots are 3.0 slots and I tried both of them, so the problem is not there. The motherboard is B650 Aorus Elite AX. Any other steps I could try to fix this problem?
Does your BIOS allow you to set a specific PCIe verson for the slot? Sometimes on automatic mode I've seen a board select the wrong version
it does, and I did try setting it to Gen2 to no avail
Any BIOS updates available? Aside from that I'd recommend a full cold PC shutdown. Power it off, then disconnect AC power and let it sit for about 5 minutes to discharge anything that might be holding incorrect data related to the PCIe mode, be it the motherboard or the card itself.
Nope, didn't work. I updated to the latest BIOS version earlier today and that didn't work either.
It might be worth reseating the card if you haven't already
Yeah, I tried both slots today.
Beyond that you might want to check what's going on there with #official-tech-support
Anyone have issues with your audio going out every few minutes and having to go to default every time to fix it then it just does it again. It does it when wherever I try to stream.
Not sure what you’re meaning here, but could you describe your setup and the problem is detail? We can’t help without details.
Well my capture card is supposed to arrive August 12th
Has anyone else ran into this screen and how to fix it. Ive had my hd60x for about a week or 2 now all has been good then yesterday my laptop just couldn't detect it and it wasnt showing on obs studio. Now ive got it to show but only when i force it to run in 30 fps which is no no's. I havnt messed with any settings and when i go into obs it wont let me choose a resolution under 2560x1440.
That error messages comes up for one of two reasons:
- You're trying to pull video from the card at a higher resolution or refresh rate than your source signal (in whihc case check the video settings of whatever you are capturing).
- You're somehow not getting a USB 3.0 connection to the computer - this could be a cable problem, in the wrong port, or an adapater or dock not working correctly.
That said the fact this option is on is an issue - that new windows multicam feature can interfere with apps trying to access the card directly. Shut down any apps using the card and see if it'll let you turn that back off.
- Thank You u are MUCH appreciated
- It let me turn the setting off stll no display
- Im trying to capture my xbox series s and im pretty sure max res is 1080 ( i mean it was just working fine days ago😭 )
Im gonna get a new cord and see if that works thanks again Preciate u heavy
Might be worth disconnecting and reconnecting the cable too in case something is loose
That could drop the cable speed
omg so uhh..... i turned off the setting.. and didnt press apply IT WORKS NOW
Ah, that'd do it. Glad you got it working!
That setting is new in the latest Windows feature update. It's kind of a headache
Thx gang u the goat on my soul😭 🙏
No worries, good luck with it!
haii
I recently upgraded my pc to have a Gigabyte X870 Aorus Elite motherboard
and I was hoping this upgrade would allow me to use both the camlink pro and the 4k pro at the same time
however I can only seem to get the 4k pro working at this moment
Check your manual about how the pcie lanes get split out depending on which pcie and m.2 slots are loaded. Sometimes there are settings for this.
I think both of those devices need 4 lanes, but I’m sure there is a chart for that.
I only have the two spare that I have
so I guess it's safe to assume it can't run both 😭
highlighted m.2 slot is the one that will disable a lane
Looks like you’ll need to not use particular m.2 slots on this board to get both the bottom slots working. If I read that right.
sorry I am super new to this
so if I use the slots below for my m.2
will that mean everything or will the other 2 impact the top one (where my graphics card is)?
thank you so much for the help by the way I really appreciate it!
you can use any m.2 slot other than the highlighted one and you'll have access to all your PCIE slots
OH FAB thank you so much!!
I thought I read somewhere it might impact GPU but very happy to find out that's not the case
Good day- how do you use elgato to stream and record with one PC -4k Pro internal card
What are you trying to record with the capture card? Console? Camera?
You mention one PC, but capture cards aren't really meant for single PC use - they only offera HDMI input, to take video in, no performance benefits like encoding or anything - that's still done by your CPU or GPU
Gameplay
If you have one pc, only… no console or other device…
The capture card doesn’t really do anything for you. Just run OBS and capture your gameplay. It’s on the same computer so no need for a capture card.
Why are you trying to use a capture card on a single PC setup instead of software catpure like OBS? As mentioned before it doesn't offer any performance benefits. You can DO it, but it's not usually worth the effort or cost which is why you're not going to find many guides for it. But it'll work the same way a connecting a console - HDMI from the graphics card to the capture card's HDMI IN, hten the capture card's HDMI OUT to the monitor.
Thanks for the info- I have two Pc but one not currently turning on so wanted to know if it could work with one. I also think it’s something elgato should look into for single pc design to help performance by recording and capture on one pc
Capture cards with encoders built in were a thing about a decade ago, but they were pretty limited and they've been replaced with hardware encoders on GPUs at this point, for single PC setups. There's reasons why the GPU ones won out - it also allows for less expensive capture cards when you don't have to add in an encoder that most people aren't going to use.
Hardware encoder is already in every GPU nowadays, so putting one in a capture card would be a total waste of parts/development/product cost. It’s a solved problem and there’s no benefit to moving the encoder off the GPU again like the old days.
I know I’m repeating things, just trying to be clear. The encoder in your gpu is better, more flexible, already cooled, and getting driver updates…. It’s a total downgrade to move the encoder off that part.
nvenc basically costs nothing in terms of performance. I use a OBS replay buffer constantly for clipping games with a more in control audio track setup
Hi everyone, sorry to bother you today, but I have an issue. I think the problem is with the game capture signal. I'm streaming with two PCs, and I'd like to use the Wave Cast, but it's impossible. The issue is that I'm sending both the audio and video signals through Wavelink - Game Capture to the streaming PC. It works perfectly, and OBS sends the signal to YouTube without any problem. However, the audio signal is also being sent to the streaming PC's speakers. As a result, I have to mute the streaming PC every time, which means I can't use the Wave Cast while doing that. I don’t understand why the game capture sends the signal to both OBS and the speakers. If anyone knows what to do or what might be wrong, I would really appreciate your help!
If you route the audio to the capture card (the hdmi output from game computer is a video and audio device ) then it’s done.
Sounds like wave cast might be receiving the audio to the system default device?
I’m not super familiar with wave cast since it’s beta and didn’t seem to work with my wave link and dual pc setup.
But there is a lot more beta discussion on Reddit.
Regardless of the Wave Cast, the Wavelink sends the audio to the capture card, and this audio is being played through the speakers and in OBS. How can I make it so that this audio doesn't play through the speakers? I need the audio signal from the capture card to only go to OBS. That's the real issue. Once I fix that, I’ll be able to use the Wave Cast without any problem, because I won’t have to mute the streaming PC anymore.
Does it play through speakers when OBS is not running?
no 🥴
Whats the difference between using Elgato Studio or 4K Capture Utility?
Ah! Then go to OBS advanced audio settings and set the source to output only, no monitor
I have all of them monitor off
But if it only happens when OBS is open then… OBS is doing it.
Do you have a plugin that is monitoring or something?
Im just using multiple outpu (sorayuki) and Voicemod
Hmm. The answer might be there, then
Why i paid 170€ for capture card that doesnt automaticly capture sound? What do i have to do? Everything is pluged corretly and there is no sound … help!
My setup is Xbox 360 -> elgato hdmi in -> USB c to USB 3.0 PC -> hdmi out to TV
Tv has sound of captured video but i cant record it from PC 🧐 (streaming)
What is interesting i tried to Connect HDMI IN to laptop instead of Xbox and its same issue
PC cant see audio from elgato, on the second photo there is audio settings from mentioned laptop. As you can se something is playing but its not reaching my PC
What app are you trying to play the sound through?
The capture card is clearly seeing input, so odds are if you're using something like OBS or Streamlabs to view/hear the capture, you don't have audio monitoring enabled
Does the volume indicator in the left ever actually move? Also is your HD60 X set for HDMI audio or Analog in 4K Capture Utility (or Elgato Studio)?
Xbox set to standard stereo and not something like Dolby?
No in game audio settings overriding that?
capturing the laptop or capturing WITH the laptop?
Can you go back into the old sound settings (mmsys.cpl - left picture) and check that the card isn't muted on the levels tab (I don't think it is based on the right pciture but good to check), then go to the advanved tan, turn off the option that allows apps to take exclusive control of the card (you may need to reboot after changing that for it to take effect)
Card is not muted, option to allow on/off no diff
Did you reboot after turning it off though? If the card is already under control of a app with exclusive mode a reboot is needed to clear it
Well surely i didnt reboot let me check
Still nothing
From tv i can hear perfectly sound from Xbox but in windows there nothing
Maybe this card is broken but i just got to brand new …
It is possible. Sorry for delay had to step out there a bit.
If it's not working you can exchage with retailer or with #official-tech-support
That said Windows Audio Enchancements can do weird things with the audio from a capture card too - I'd check that those are off.
You can check if enhancements are on by going into Windows Settings and checking under System > Sound and find your capture card. Go into it, and check at the bottom for any mention of audio enhancements or spatial audio (usually towards the bottom) and turn them off.
If neither are there, check the old Windows Sound Settings instead. Press Windows Key + R, type mmsys.cpl in the box that comes up and press OK. Go to the recording tab, find the capture card then go to properties. Check for any enhancement or spatial audio tabs and disable anything in there, and check the advanced tab to see if there's any enhancements or spatial audio options to turn off there as well.
Based on your audio hardware, software and Windows version and updates, enhancements could be in either of these locations, both or none. If they're not in any of them, you can assume enhancements are off
If that doesn't help, only other thing I would suggest is trying the card to capture the xbox on your laptop instead - would help confirm if it's a PC specific issue we need to track down or something with the card
🥴
I will throw this garbage card out 🤬 im done
How the hell is it possible to create device that cant work properly plug and play in 2025 its crazy
Honestly it usually does just work, especially while the source is uncompressed stereo. The usual hiccups are OS related - I have come to hate Windows 11 24H2 with a passion. With what you've gone though already if you can't capture the audio with the card in the laptop instead, I'd get it replaced.
Especially since you're still getting audio on the TV so we know this isn't headset related
You might try setting the input EDID mode of the card to Internal and rebooting the console to resync in case the TV is telling the console to use something like Dolby Digital that the card can't support, but beyond that and testing it with the laptop to see if that gets audio, I'd go through the official support at #official-tech-support instead of the community support here
I tried from 2 diff PC one with windows 10 other with windows 11 and guess what… sh*t not working
Should i try to catch this sound from 3,5mm jack port in elgato card?
hey so I got a laptop today as a streaming pc and my problem is that I don't get audio from the gaming pc. I have the HD60X picked in the stream-mix in wave link (it's called Elgato1440HDR don't know why). Video is working fine it's just the audio that's not working
Whats more frustrating theres no manual. Anyway i send official e-mail to elgato tech support, maybe they will find as i suppose trivial solution but impossible for me to find. If not may them all burn in hell
🥲
Oh I guess u have the same or a similar issue?
the weird thing is I used the capture card for months now with my ps5 and there are no problems with anything it's just with the dual pc setup
I Think its similar problem. In my case video ok, sound dont exist
They will email me back or…?
It'll show as Elgato1440HDR if you have an internal EDID mode set, and selected 1440p mode. Extended Display Identification Data includes the name and identifier for the device so using internal, it'll show up as the card, with the set resolution you locked in with the internal dropdown.
How are you routing the audio from the gaming PC to the capture card? That's where most folks trip up - Windows only sends audio to one place at a time, so if you're listening from the gaming PC directly as well you'll need something like Voicemeeter or Wave Link (or an external mixer) to split the audio feed to go to both whatever you're listening on, and the capture card at the same time.
They're also the ones who can determine if the card is faulty and issue replacement if you don't want to go through the vendor for an exchange. It's generally not good form to wish they burn in hell before they've even had a chance to help you. . .
as said in the message I'm using wave link. The warning for stream mix is just there because I powered off the laptop because I got it kinda working again with the old sound capture software
The 3.5mm jack is an audio input - if you have something like Chat Link to use with it, then you can set the card to Analog audio mode and try that (it doesn't auto switch, so that setting would need to be changed in 4K Capture Utility or Elgato Studio - after which it's saved on the card and you can use it with other apps)
it's just really annoying everywhere in the video it's "yea just put the capture card in the stream mix and u have sound" but that's not hte case for me and I can't find any fix online after hours of trying
You've be surprised how often Wave Link is in the equation and not actually what's doing the splitting, or on the other PC. But that screenshot helps a lot.
The fact there's a warning sign on the capture card in the drop down for stream mix indicates an issue, if you open the drop down do you see any warnings next to it? If you switch it to another device and switch back, does the warning icon clear?
That is normally the case - just seems to be something off here that's throwing a wrench into it.
Usually when I see this it's throwning an error because something moved to a different port, or because the GPU HDMI audio driver wasn't actaully installed and it's outputting video only.
yea as I said warning is just there becaus the laptop is powered off atm because I got annoyed after hours of nothing xD
What are you using on the streaming PC side to pull in the audio and video? 4K Capture Utiluty, Elgato Studio, or something like OBS or Streamlabs? Does the app indicate any audio going across at all when it's running, and you just can't hear it, or nothing at all?
I have both 4k cap and obs and for both there's absolutely nothing
If you go into the Windows Sound Settings (on the streaming PC), preferably the old one by pressing Win Key + R, and typing mmsys.cpl in the box that comes up, does the card show correctly on the recording tab? Does the volume indicator there move?
If not go into properties and make sure Windows didn't mute or turn down the card on the levels tab as it likes to do, then check on the advanced tab and turn off the option that allows apps to take exclusive control of the card. This sometimes requires rebooting to take effect
it was on 100% and it's in the recording tab
It's in the recording tab as in the volume meter is moving in there?
nope
the weird thing is that after installing the hd cap with yound cap and after a I disconnected the capture card a few time the sound is working but on a test recording I was cut off or a bit chopped sometimes
I just want it to work without the old software because it SHOULD work but it just doesn't
Wait, the capture card was working when you used Sound Capture from the gaming PC to split the audio instead?
Or at least partly working?
no sound cap on the streaming pc
Can you open Sound Capture if it's still installed and make sure it's set to OFF? If it's installed and running it can interfere with other audio setups..
yea but without it it's not working at all
That should be fine, with it it's going to interfere with setting things up from scratch
but how is not working at all better than partly working?
Because Sound Capture can do things like setting itself as default system audio output and the like which gets in the the way of troubleshooting, and sometimes of the setup in general
okay I'm getting on the laptop again
now I'm even more confused
I turned it off and the sound seems to be working
Sound Capture was likely setting itself as the default device and redirecting things wrong if that's the case
You may have fixed whatever else was going on a while back
It can be a great tool, but if you're not actively using it, it can also get in the way
And if you're using something like OBS which doesn't always play nice with the default audio device changing it can introduce some headaches to the monitoring options
nvm it was just capturing discord because discord changed my output to the capture card
yea but only because the capture card directly was the discord output
That's fine - it does at least mean audio is getting from the Gaming PC to the Streaming PC for one thing - so we can rule out hardware failure.
If Discord is still setup to go to the card, does audio like sound board effects also go through or only voice? That might let us know if there's a noise cancellation tool interfering, which is an increasingly common issue.
I can try but I don't think so because I don't have any noise canellation besides voice focus in wave link
There's Voice Focus (not the Elgato version) built into some Windows setups these days too. Sometimes it also comes with the control app for your soundcard (eg Realtek console, Nahimic, etc)
A lot of noise cancellation runs thorugh Windows Audio Enchancements though.
If they're not in any of them, you can assume enhancements are off
yea I know but that's not activated
and the soundboard was captured
it's all off
Sorry, this needs to be checked on the streaming PC, not the gaming PC doing the output
I'm worried the streaming PC is applying noise cancellation to the audio it's getting from the cpature card
Using hte build in Windows one or similar
Don‘t even have the settings there
And it's also not in the old settings? MS dedcided it was a good idea to put it in different places in different builds of Windows.
there's only exclusive mode
That's fine then - the fact discord sound board went through was generally an indication that might not be what was going on anyway
So the fact we were getting discord through but not the audio from Wave Link seems to indicate Wave Link may be the issue. Are you able to hear the monitor mix for Wave Link on the gaming PC through the arctis pros?
Also I should ask is Steelseries Sonar enabled? That sometimes doesn't play nice with other audio apps becaue of the way their 3D feature shims into the audio stack.
nope I hate steelseries gg and downloaded an older version of engine 3 on my gaming pc
Fair enough - that at least made it a lot easier to disable Sonar these days. I have the Arctis Pros too and had to turn it off
But do you get the monitor mix through the headset? I'd like to make sure that both mixes aren't broken
on the gaming pc I have sound and all I'm listening to music and talking to friends in a call atm
That sound is through the monitor mix through right, not another app that's just going direct to the headset?
If you click the ear on the right side of the stream mix volume slider, can you hear the stream mix (this switches it from listening to the monitor mix to the stream mix so you can set it up)
I have the wave link headphones rn in windows and yea I hear the stream mix when I click on the ear
What on earth is going on there. We know the card is getting audio since we can get Discord when sent over directly. . . Have you cold rebooted the gaming PC in the last bit, since you started troubleshooting?
wait huh I suddenly get output on obs
huh
I'm so confused
OBS wasn't open the whole time was it? It only initalizes the device when you select them in settings or when it starts. If it's been open it might not have been updating with the changes you've tried to make until it restarted
Especialyl the sound capture stuff
OBS doesn't lke things playing with default output - if the device changes you have to restart it most of the time to get it to pick up there's a different default device
I had it open for the last 20min or so
hm. Best guess is sound capture was tripping it up there too and it' took a while to update to the changes. But that's only a guess
I hate Windows audio somtimes - feels like voodoo
yea don't know it's just like with steelseries gg it was sometimes breaking the sound from my headset and that was the point where I downgraded xD
Glad you've managed to get it working at least
even if it suddenly started working like some type of black magic thanks for all the help

No problem. Hopefully the magic holds and that's it 🙂
let's hope for the best

looks like you're playing ff14 so I wish u best luck on farming the phantom relic weapons
On break sadly - too busy with work. But thanks for the well wishes just the same. Good luck with the streaming setup!
damn I just bought playtime again a few day's ago because of the relic weapons but I'm getting scammed because of the droprates xD
hi can i get some help with my capture card? i just got a elgato 4k pro internal, the video is displaying to my other monitor but when it comes to the capture software, its a blacks screen with static audio
fixed it, was in wrong PCIe slot
That'd do it - getting power but not enough bandwidth. Glad you were able to sort it out!
Hi everyone
How I can play in 4k 160fps, I have a 4k x capture card. I want to send just1080p60 but I don’t know if I can configure this in the duplicated screens 1 on my 4k panel and other on my 4k x
??
4k60x I belive only captures up to 144hz. So I think from what you said you’re meaning to send it 1080p60… so you might have a GPU driver issue. Is this a nvidia GPU? Lately their drivers are all a mess.
Hey guys really struggling with my Elgato Chat Link Pro via my HD60X capture card..
So I stream using an Xbox Series X on Twitch via OBS on my laptop.
On Xbox the actual livestream does not pickup game chat audio such as if im playing Fortnite crossplay with friends on other consoles such as Playstation, even though i can hear them and they hear me - the stream does not hear them.
I was told to get an Elgato Chat Link Pro, plug it into my HD60X - go onto Elgato 4K Utility app and switch it to Analog Audio then its good to go.. now everything is great but the stream now cannot hear any sound from my game OR friends chat, so its even worse than before. Please can anyone advise or help as to where I am going wrong or if anyone else is using this method to maybe show me how there OBS Sources for this are setup? I am new to OBS and streaming in general and would really really appreciate any help or advice.
Thank you
Can you hear the audio in the headset connected into Chat Link Pro? Knowing that can help us determine if the setup issue is Xbox side, or PC side
Yes in my Hyper X cloud 3 wired headset thats plugged into the HD60x into my xbox controller i can hear game sound and chat perfect through the headset but the stream itself cannot hear game sound or only very very faintly
where is your chat link? You need it connected to the analog port of the capture card, then the headset inside of the chat link
Yes thats correct and what i have it as currently
Is headset audio on the Xbox set to Stereo Uncompressed? And what app are you using to record?
Sometimes when switching the card to Analog audio mode we've also seen Windows mute the card - you may want to go into mmsys.cpl and check on the recording tab that the card didn't get muted or turned down when modes switched (found in the properties on the levels tab for the card)
Yes xbox is stereo uncompressed👍
Not sure what you mean by record but i use OBS to stream to Twitch.
Where do i find these card properties? I am using my Dell G15 Windows 11 laptop
Press Windows Key + R, paste mmsys.cpl into the text field, and click OK. You can also just paste/type it into normal Windows Search
Thank you i will check this
While you're in there, take note on the recording tab if the volume meter next to the card is moving as well
Ok thank you
this capture card doesnt works for 4k high fps, maybe search for another
Hey guys, can someone please help me setup my 4K X capture card. I’m having a hard time, I already watched videos, but still need help lol.
Basically I’m trying to play a game from my iPad, and stream/record on my PC.
Hi I am trying to run a 2 pc set up for streaming. The game pc has a 4080s in it. That's running triple 55inch monitors res is 7680x1440p. Stream pc is 2080 and the 4k pro inside.
What ever I do it will not clone or duplicate. The line is greyed out. Bet I can get is extend screen to capture card. Have card on pass through and using obs. Any ideas or help be great thanks.
Is it safe to remove the Elgato decretive plate off the capture card if needed? Since Elgato doesnt really sell a cap card that doesn't not have it and it
Hey brother @past basin so I have a new issue it's the only issue which is on my mic on obs, you can hear the background fan. I can make to where you can't hear the fan and I'm not speaking, but when I speak the fan is there
Do you have anything running for noise cancellation other than a noise gate?
I don't, have a compressor aswell but that doesn't fix
What card do you have - I can't think of any that have a decorative plate. On the externals the logo is embossed right into the main casing
I'm in the music industry I know how to take background noise out of any audio clip but live I'm not sure
Do you have access to Wave Link, or are you just loading filters into OBS directly?
Ahhh I don't just obs, guessing wave link is the way to go
Yea loading directly to the filters
Do you have an Nvidia RTX GPU?
If you've got Wave Link, and you have a Wave Mic or XLR interface, try Voice Focus https://help.elgato.com/hc/en-us/articles/31577824956433-Wave-Link-Voice-Focus
This guide covers Voice Focus, an AI-powered feature built in partnership with ai|coustics. It helps remove background noise and adjust reverb, making your voice crystal clear—just like you're in a...
It was added in Wave Link 2.0, replacing the older Nvidia based plugin. Does noise cancellation and some basic tuning automatically
And should work very well for constant droning noises like a fan
If you need a VST based solution instead, I've used ClarityVx in the past with good effect.
There's also some virtual mic programs out there that do noise cancelaltion like NVidia Broadcast (needs an RTX card), or Krisp (subscription based).
For a fan you might also be able to get away with non AI cancellation like RNNoise too, since it's fairly constant
(The VST ones can be loaded into OBS without needing another app like Wave Link)
Thank you brother I do have a music interface but if I plug anything else into my Mac while streaming I'll overload the USB so I'll try wavelink first
If you ever tryin to make some music man I'm always down
Wave Link needs a Wave Mic, or Wave USB interface (Wave XLR, or XLR dock) to run. It can run with a Stream Deck+ as well - but Voice Focus only works on Wave products at this time
If you do have access to to, when you set it up make sure to remember to run your recording through the MicrophoneFX, or Stream Mix - effects are applied in software so they're not on the raw mic. MicFX is the mic feed with effects applied.
Okay. I only have a quadcast mix and a sterling interface so nothing made by them specifically I might have to try that Ai route
Mic*
If you've got a RTX GPU, NVidia broadcast is free to use and a good starting point - you set your mic in that app, then set your recording app to use the NVidia broadcast mic. AMD has somethign similar iirc, but I can't recall the name.
Before Voice Focus was avaialble in my Wave Link, I used to use Clarity Vx which is a VST so you could add it right to OBS. It's paid though - (though frequently on sale, and one time payment only unless you ever need to upgrade it)
I have Mac so I def don't have that gpu unfortunately, but I might have to buy that VST. I spent my money on that MASSIVE plugin in horrible sounds so I can buy this haha
Oh, if you have a mac try turning on Voice Isolation from the mic modes in the menu bar.
I do have a ton of waves plugins like compressors and this and that
They have noise cancellation built into the OS. This MAY trip up sometimes and apply to your capture card too though
Okay bet
Yea all these gadgets plus Mac gonna be a few restrictions
Let me check that setting rq
the mk2 and the pro have the same plate with 4 screws that just screw into the pcb
example on avermedia you can actualy get an identical card without this plate
That's not just decorateive, it helps reduce RF Noise. Ideally I would not remove that
I don't think there's a hard reason not to, but it'd probably risk more electrical interference without it, especially if it's mounted closed to something like a GPU
its not its just where the case ends just a metal shroud and the 4x slot i cant insert it because the front of the metal plate hits the shroud except a psu but its low profile enough there is such a huge gap that i doubt its going to interfear with it
i cant install the card with that metal part on it
i watched a tear down of the cap card it doesnt seem like there is any heat sync mechanic to it
Wait are you talking about the metal cover with the logo, or the actual backplate?
the logo
Yeah, I think the main purpose on that is RF shielding
guess i could try it without it cause i cant install it into this pc with it on there
Odd problem for a PC to not have clearance there - there are some devices like NICs that have ports that can extend about that high.
But you could try I guess. May void the warranty though if you're still in coverage for that
its not i got it used off fb market place.
im sticking it ito a dell pc so ya its not really a common problem but then agan dells cases are weird af
Yeah, i've seen some messed up dell setups. Usually pretty standard, but I remember when I was doing my Dell Technet certs back in the day there were some weird things - like an XPS model with screws that had to be turned into a specific position because other screws lined up with a notch in the side of them
For years they used to use standard power plugs wit non standard pinouts too. That was fun
maybe ill just cut the shroud
Honestly this pc setup would just be for the living room for console streaming
anyways its a 4k60 old one
the amount of messed up dell setups i have delt with ya not fun espcally trying to get proper coolers for them
Hey team
Curious if anyone uses 4k capture utility?
I’ve got dual PC and run the utility to bring over audio, however over time the audio gets out of sync causing me to need to reload the app in windows. Any idea why it goes out of sync?
That sounds like it might be a sample timing issue.
Are both computers using the same sample rate and bit depth on all audio devices?
I believe so, can check tho, windows audio settings you mean?
Basically I’ve got aux cables from pc to mixamp for stream and chat audio
Out of the stream pc to mixamp, mixamp is usb to game pc
Ok, since hd60s cap card only does 16-bit, 48000Hz, I put this same Format on the Game PC audio devices.
Yeah they can all use that setting.
Mix amp. So that’s a arctis headset, right? They sometimes have audio software… I think it’s called sonar? Which is known to conflict with things. Wave link, for one, but…
Might be some complications there.
But are you saying you have analog audio between the two computers? Have you tried it digital? I assumed it was digital since you were using a capture card.
make sure your audio sample rate is the same as the Elgato INPUT device that goes into the streaming pc, the output can typically do up to 24 bit 48khz studio quality, however the input can only do 16 bit 48khz dvd quality audio. You want your sample rate to be 16bit 48khz dvd quality or whatever your elgato supports on the hdmi input
Mixamp is the Astro Mixamp.
Command Center software is used because I have analog output and stream port input
Let's see if I can put this into some pictures for you
GAME PC
STREAM PC
On the Stream PC as well to get audio from the Game PC
Ah so it says here you’re using digital audio over the capture card.
I guess if you’ve checked and the capture card and all audio devices are using the same sample rate and bit depth. Test some recordings. You’re using 4k utility to record? Try OBS. Try Elgato Studio. See if you get the same drift with those.
I’m still suspicious that something from the rest of your audio equipment could be causing it. So taking that out of the chain for a test might help
Yes, since only HDMI connected to HD60S
k k thank you!!
Anyone know if/when Elgato 4K60 Pro MK.2 will be compatible with Linux (Ubuntu 24.04.02 LTS). Why is Elgato dragging their heels on this?
Does anything from Elgato have Linux compatibility? I’m not aware of it.
From what I've read on Reddit, some USB capture cards work fine.
That's because they're UVC (USB Video Class) devices and use the UVC driver provided by the OS instead of requiring a specific one.
Given 4K60 Pro Mk2 is End of Life, you're unlikely to ever see more support added to it, even if Elgato does expand into linux support. It went EOL May 2024.
This is unwelcome news then. Thank you for letting me know that since the only posts I see are "you're unlikely to see support anytime soon" which still provides some chance at happening. If it's EOL then yeah- it's not happening. Which is unfortunate. Back when I bought this card, I was running Windows. I knew even then that I would eventually switch to Linux because (obligatory:) Microsoft sucks. I was just hoping that by the time I switched, Linux would be supported. Guess I was wrong. Won't make that mistake again.
At any rate, is there anyone in here who can recommend a comparable capture card that is already Linux supported? Ideally Elgato but if they have none then I'm not adverse to switching.
If you don't mind the fact there's no OFFICIAL support, the current external cards generally work with any Linux distro that does UVC which is most of them. I might stay away from 4K X since some linux setups seem to have quirks with 10 Gbps USB last I checked (may be resolved now, it's been a while)
But 4K S, HD60 X would PROBABLY work fine since they're UVC 5 Gbps USB cards
hi! Can someone share the famous EDID "beta EDID HD69 x VRR" with me? Thanks.
🫂 Thank you.
If you don't need the 4K60 MJPEG encoding, I'd probably stick with HD60 X - it's been around longer and I can at least find some posts online of folks getting that one working with Linux, so I'm more confident that model will work than 4K S (in theory 4K S would be fine, but I don't have one about to test, and it's new enough I'm not seeing anyone else who's tried)
If you need 4K60 though 4K S is the best bet - HD60 X can capture from 4K60 source but only at 4K30
4K X may also work - but again not sure on 10 Gbps Linux USB compatibility
If I'm entirely honest, I'm not sure if I do. I record using NVENC and into MKV container to prevent dataloss in the event of a power outage or system crash. Based on the MKV container, I think I do need MPEG but I'm not well versed in codecs/encoders.
That's MJPEG there, as in Motion JPEG - it's the compression format 4K S uses to get 4K60 over USB 3 / 5 Gbps (4K X can do 4K60 in uncompressed NV12 format instead but needs 10 Gbps USB to do so). Encoding is all done by the host computer so none of them should care what your encoding is setup like
I'm fairly certain my computer should be able to handle 10 Gbps USB but I'll check. Am I correct in thinking the answer lies in my mobo specs?
Yeah, if it lists 3.2 Gen 2, or 3.1 Gen 2 it should have 10 Gbps (or USB4). Gen 1 is 5 Gbps for both
It was more driver support under linux at full speed that used to be the issue
Oh, I see.
it's been around long enough it's . . probably fixed? But can't say I've looked intio it in a couple years
Yeah, that was the same boat I was in the Elgato supporting Linux. It's not compatible now but it's been a while, maybe it is?
Linux is fairly decent at getting things to work with enough time so long as the issue isn't caused by someone else.
-# ||NVidia.||
It looks like at least one user reported getting it to work with 4K X at 10 Gbps but it took extra config. Not sure how much I trust that
I'm assuming that's HD60 X, not 69.
Is there a reason you're looking for that EDID? HD60 X should already support VRR with the default internal EDID, or display EDID (if you have an external monitor connected to HDMI OUT that does VRR).
(if it does not make sure your firmware for the card is up to date first)
Im using the Elgato 4K S and the audio is super glitched, ive tried all the fixes but i don't the option to go to signal enhancements and ive updated all my drivers, any help?
and yes my audio format is set to linear pcm
hey guys can 4k Cam Link work with elgato stream deck usb hub?
I've got help with the obs side of things with the arctis nova pro wireless and it comes threw on audio with obs but i also would like to know if its possible to get audio there on the 4k capture utility with the 4k60 pro m.k2 if that's even possible, i use the chat link pro along with the arctis nova pro wireless headset, sorry if this is confusing hpopefully its understandable! 😅
In the computer open mmsys.cpl and check device properties to make sure enhancements and spatial effects are disabled.
Is the console set to stereo mode?
In my memory there is also something nagging me about some usb controllers having issues with audio, not sure if that's relevant here, but try that other stuff.
4k capture utility does capture audio, yes. Since you're using chat link pro, make sure the capture card audio mode is set to analog. Then it will have audio and video on it.
Good news I get my capture card today
I have a problem getting a signal from the xbox one to the hd60 x to the computer. It has worked before. I tried running from my xbox 360 and then I got them on my computer in the elgato program that you download. When I had my xbox 360, the little diode lit up in a solid blue frame on the capture card. But when I now have my xbox one connected. Then it lights up bright purple and there is no signal in the program on the computer. Now the question is where do I need to check the settings. If it is in the computer, the TV or my xbox one. I have a very old computer from the stone age kind of LOL. But it worked with my xbox 360? So there is nothing wrong with my capture card. This problem is so annoying because it worked before with my xbox one. 😭 .
Purple is an abnormal state - check that you're using the correct USB port (USB 3.0 or higher / SusperSpeed) and that the cable you're using is the original or at least rated for 5 Gbps.
Normal light colours are blue for good signal, white for power but no signal, and red for problems with the signal. Purple usually winds up being red and blue at once, blue for good signal, red for USB connectivity problem.
Okay. Yes, I have a 3.0 USB port in my computer and a 3.0 USB cable. But now I know what I can look at next.
but like i said. my xbox 360 works.
Hi crew, would a camlink help with my audio/video sync issues on my canon eos RP camera?
Just like 1 or 2 millisecond delay on the feed. It's currently connected via usbC cable
2ms is a very small delay… that’s like, in the passthrough video range.
I mean, maybe… but that’s simply solvable for free with an audio sync offset in OBS.
Unless I’m misunderstanding. We are talking about audio and video being slightly out from each other, right?
Its like when i speak in my usb mic, the video from the camera is slightly out of sync, if that makes sense
Oh so the mic is a different device. You aren’t using camera audio.
Yeah that’s just audio sync offset.
Advanced audio settings in OBS. Just delay whichever is earlier to match the later one.
Er, I mean sorry. You delay the audio. Not the video
You can set a negative offset if the audio is the later of the two.
Each device will have a different amount of latency when coming into the capturing app. It’s very unlikely any camera and any mic would match. And it seems yours got really close
Every setup has to use a little audio sync offset if you want it perfect.
Yes, I think I will add a delay to my mic, should fix it!
What I suggest is make a short recording of clapping your hands on camera.
Open that in some editor and zoom in to measure how many frames or ms off it is.
nice idea!
Does anyone have a solution for this, I have an s23 ultra connected to the hd60x to stream on obs, when my Bluetooth headphones are connected to my phone, I’m not getting game audio in the stream, when I disconnect I have game audio sounding in the stream.
I need a way to hear game audio while I’m playing and for stream to also hear
Turn on audio monitoring in OBS. There'll be a very slight delay but it'll let you listen through the PC. In the advanced audio settings in the edit menu, turn the monitor option for the card to Monitor and Output
One question (Idk if its the right channel) can I use Cam Link as a capture card I mean it has a hdmi input
Yes. Though it has more limited modes than some of the gaming oriented cards, and no passthrough video, it's otherwise just a small capture card
Also what resolution can Cam Link handle btw
I have that set already, but I wanna be able to listen to the audio thru my phone not pc, the audio on the pc is too different
Then the issue is the fact the phone only does one audio output at a time - you'll want a 3.5mm adapter and something like Chat Link or a mixamp to manage splitting the audio. Or maybe an audio extractor on the HDMI out from the phone to give you a 3.5mm feed from that
https://help.elgato.com/hc/en-us/articles/360028240951-Cam-Link-4K-Supported-Video-Sources has the list
Cam Link 4K is designed to work with unencrypted HDMI video sources, such as:
DSLRs
Camcorders
Action Cams
Ensure your camera supports a resolution and frame rate compatible with Cam Link 4K.Suppor...
Biggest differences from the gaming cards are non high refresh rate (above 60 Hz), and no 1440p
(and 4K60 only works on the very latest model of Cam Link 4K)
I was thinking of trying a chatlink, but I can’t find a usb c adapter that has an hdmi, 3.5mm (trrs) and charging ports
Or atleast an hdmi and 3.5 to usb c adapter
May have to get one that has USB-C with HDMI and USB-C and an additional USB-C to 3.5mm
The HDMI extractor with a 3.5mm output that you attach to the HDMI cable instead is also a viable way to get a 3.5mm you can use with Chat Link - only issue there is no mic to the iOS device if you were using it for full headset not just headphones
er android
Sorry - most of my mobile questions are on iOS devices. It all works about the same in the end, just not all Android devices do HDMI OUT (that one should though - Pixel series is the biggest offender for no HDMI Out because Google wants to seel chromecasts)
You might wind up looking at a full USB dock for your phone though, to get both HDMI out and 3.5mm on a single device though
Yh but I don’t know the best ones, or atleast supports the chatlink
And honestly dk if chatlink works with phones or even with an adapter, that’s Y I came here
It’s not really covered much
Chat Link is a passive 3.5 mm splitter at it's core - if you can output 3.5mm headphone or speaker feed with it, it should work with Chat Link. (the biggest gotcha with Chat Link is that often people don't realize it only splits the audio out from your dvice, not the headset mic)
You could use Chat Link with a walkman from the 80's by all rights - it's analog audio only so as long as it's the right voltage (line level, so a headphone or speaker jack), it'll be able to split things
So I won’t be able to use mic in game?
If you use a HDMI audio extractor no. If you're connecting to the phone with a headset adapter (and not just a headphone output adapter) the mic should be fine.
Aside from that Chat Link feeds mic only to the device you're capturing though - it won't copy it to your PC. So you'd want an additional mic on your computer to mix your own voice back in
🤦♂️
If you need the mic, go with the 3.5mm to USB-C adapter, and Chat Link for best resutls.
You know any that has an HDMI port too?
That's where you're most likely to need a full USB dock. I've SEEN a HDMI and 3.5mm adapter that wasn't a full size dock, but not in a while.
But a USB dock is most likely to tick all three boxes - 3.5mm audio, charging, and HDMI at the same time
otherwise dock or adapter with an open USB-C port you can plug another basic 3.5mm adapter into is most likely the best option
But mobile capture and support for devices can be a problem to work out when you need more than basic HDMI audio
Even if that port is a charging port?
Needs to be a data port.
If you're on a full dock odds are you'll have a data port (or many) as well as a charging port.
I figured
Problem is docks tend to cost more
Honestly don’t mind, I’m just trying to find the right one, so I do waste money unnecessarily
Do you know any good docks?
Not with 3.5mm off top of my head. I usually go with Anker for a brand, since they're a USB-IF member and certify the gear, but not sure if any of their current lineup has 3.5mm or not
If I can dig up some stuff later I'll let you know, but on working hours at the moment so I don't have the time to look at the moment
All good
so 1. my computer won't show enhancements or spatial effects and idk why ive spent hours trying to bring it back and idk how to check if its in stereo mode
If the properties of the audio device doesn’t have a tab for enhancements and spatial effects, then they don’t exist.
Console audio settings will show stereo/sureound settings.
Then is my Elgato just faulty? Should I return it?
Was yours the digital garbage in the console audio? Need my memory refreshed.
I think Arcsane should weigh in.
Do you have an AMD motherboard or one with an ASmedia USB controller by any chance? If so try 4K S in a 5 Gbps USB port. ASMedia (and the AMD ones based on them), 10 Gbps USB controllers have known USB audio issues that can affect some capture cards (and DACs, sound cards, etc etc) (Said issue can be fixed in some cases by updating the USB Controller Driver to use one other than MS provides, but that can be a pain to sort out)
<@&581565551495741448>
I like how that spammed so much Discord set it to auto hide
Thanks for the spam cleanup
Yes
I have an MSI motherboard and it only has one USB port built for type C
Happen to have a USB-C to USB-A cable that's at least 5 Gbps? Or an adapter? At least to test and confirm if that is or isn't the issue
I do but idk if it's 5 gbps it should be though, I'll test that when I'm home
I saw insturctions once before on updating the USB controller driver on those boards - will see if I can find it
Ok thanks 👍
If you can't switch to the 5 Gb port, try updating the USB controller driver from here, if you have an ASMedia chipset (or AMD which is based on ASMedia). The steps are under solution 2 https://helpcenter.steinberg.de/hc/en-us/articles/360009604280-UR-C-Audio-dropouts-in-SuperSpeed-USB-3-1-Gen-1-mode
Ok I will try this when I'm home thank you 🙂
HI so I just got a 4k60 pro mk2 a few days ago and since then I have not been able to get a signal on my xbox series s and I know everything works and is plugged in the right way.I tested it with my nintendo switch and it worked just fine instantly on the game capture utility and on obs studio. At this point I dont know what to do I have tried everything possible on the internet I could find. Please help me because I was really excited to be able to play on xbox using this and have not gotten any signal on it at ALL.
Also I got my capture card opening it right now
Well I have a problem
The capture card has to connect to my switch laptop and tv
what'd you assume you'd connect it to
TV is optional - though playing on the live preview has a bit of delay, like 2-3 frames usually, just a bit lower than playing on a TV that isn't in gaming mode.
I wasn’t sure
Not noticeable for most things, but something like a rythtm game that needs pixel perfect timing might show up the latency
So I could just connect it to my switch and laptop and not the tv right
if the games your playing don't need zero-delay
So the 4K60 Pro Mk2 works for the Switch but not the Xbox? What resolution are you running the Xbox at? Switch tops out at 1080p60 so if you're going above that there might be a setting issue to sort out
??
Yes.
Thanks
Yk any good adapters I’m looking for yet man 💀, think a dock gonna be too clunky to use for a phone whn I play @past basin
Well I tried to get this work for my switch and I got this message
Does the 4K X work with hdmi switchers?
Never mind I figured out my problem
yes
you have ti buy the one that meets the same specs.
Hey so my PC meets the required specs to run the HD60X capture card but randomly during stream it'll Just freeze or won't get recognized at all. I've unplugged and replugged it in and I've still not got it to work. I use streamlabs OBS
so i switched to a usb 2.0 port and the audio works fine now, it was the cord or the 3.0 port
I tried for 5 hours to get the audio to work on OBS . Sadly nothing worked !
I have no idea how to even explain everything I tried
I got the picture and audio to pick up on OBS but when I recorded it did not go through.
How
Oh
I had the wrong software
It shouldn't really work on a 2.0 port. You sure that's not a 3.0, or 3.1/3.2 Gen 1 port with a Type A plug? Either way, sounds like it. If it's an AMD board my money is on the USB controller so you can try the driver update for the controller or keep using it on a 5 Gbps port and see what happens.
<@&581565551495741448>
I need some help. I just bought a new monitor and plugged my Capture Card into the HDMI port while my computer uses a DP port for primary use.
Game Capture Neo displays the graphics and plays video just fine. But there's no sound for some reason. The bars along the top are moving which tells me there is sound but... no sound plays.
Nevermind. I figured out the problem.
Hiya, is this a good place to ask about an audio issue I am having connecting my capture card to my PS5?
Hey! Recording my Switch 2 via HD60 S+. Why does it load in with the same display as seen on my TV and then suddenly oversaturates the picture like that?
Is HDR enabled on the console’s settings
I already tweaked around here between turning on and off and the result is the same
change the color to limited or default.
or turn off HDR
Hello I have a problem with my acquisition card it is displayed on 4k utility but not on my screen need help please
It works it’s barely 3 hours and now the ps5 doesn’t display
That looks like double tonemapping, possibly 4KCU not turning off the card's tonemapping before applying it's own like normal. Sometimes a PC reboot is all it takes to clear that up. Otherwise check if your 4K Capture Utility has HDR recording enabled, or you can even disable the app's own tonemapping by holding down CTRL when you open settings, and enabling the option ot use the tonemapping on device instead
To confirm you see the video on 4K Capture Utility, but not on a TV or monitor connectoed to the HDMI OUT of the capture card? If so try setting your Input EDID mode to "Display" which shoudl tell your capture card to pass your PS5 only modes that are compatible with the display you have connected. This option is found in 4K Capture Utility under the device tab (like in my image above - mine is currently set to merged). If you're using Elgato Studio instead it's found in the pull out menu from the side.
Yes - though it's a bit slow on the server at this hour. Feel free to drop the issue you're having and if someone knows how to fix it they'll get back to you when they pop in.
It will help especialyl to know what exact issue you're seeing, what capture app you're using (and if you're mac or windows), and what specific model of capture card you have (some have different potential issues and fixes).
Anyone here
Volunteers are in and out through the day - your best bet is to describe whatever issue you're having and when someone is around who knows how to help they'l get back to you
I can’t get the elgato studio app to screen share on discord
First question - there a reason you're not usnig Discord's build in capture card sharing? Discord app capture doesn't always play nice with a lot of other capture apps.
Beyond that try turning off hardware acceleration in Discord. That sometimes helps
sharing your entire screen then entering full screen on elgato should just be fine
Screen Share has a capture tab that should show your card. Keep in mind only one app can use the USB cards at a time, so if you have a USB card make sure Studio is closed first
you can't hear audio if you use Discord's capture tab
Yes you can - though you may have to check your audio capture device is set correctly
Discord doesn't always default to the correct audio capture for it
you set the input, yeah but you yourself cannot hear it. People in the stream will be able to hear audio other than yourself
When did they change that?
There are ways around that in a pinch anyway like Window Listen To options
then configuring volume comes into question
I guess you could just configure the level from the recording device, but that'll effect other listeners as well
I personally just do a OBS Studio setup on a fullscreen projector and use volume mixer to configure my own heard audio
Stream failed to start
How did you do that
Fullscreen projector (or windowed) in OBS and capture the window. If it bugs out disable OBS Preview screen.
Once setup in OBS you can right click your capture card and choose a projector mode to pop it out, then capture that
(Audio monitoring usually has to be turned on during this setup to work as well - make sure card is set to Monitor and Outuput in the monitor options for advanced audio under the edit menu, otherwise you won't hear it on the PC)
And make sure audio monitoring for the card is monitor and output
I don’t see that as a option
You don't see fullscreen projector when you right click the Video Capture Device?
new obs update changed the context menu name for projectors
Ah, fantastic. I guess it makes sense from a context menu cleanup, but that's the kind of change I expect in a major update version, not a minor one
Do I click new window
just pick your display name and it'll be fullscreen
is it a black screen that pops up?
what are the video capture device properties, you can exit the fullscreen by pressing esc
Yes
there should at least be an elgato no signal message
Make sure you close Studio first and restart OBS if that was still open
If Studio was open first OBS won't be able to lock in on the card
(assuming you have a USB one - the PCIe ones have multi-app)
Go into properties and reselect the capture card in the drop down
(for the video capture device)
And Studio or any other apps using the card are closed, and OBS was closed and reopened? But the card was working in Studio?
correct
Could you open the Device Drop down and take a screenshot of that?
I sometimes have an OBS issue where I have to reselect my capture cards in the dropdown menu
if you reselect elgato 4ks and hit activate, does it show any image feed? or still a black screen?
hmmm
on the Elgato 4K S, are you able to see a passthrough HDMI feed for your console / pc that you're trying to capture?
ohhh so its picks up on the system Camera feed lol
doesn't pick up the nintendo switch camera feed
What app are you using that is displaying the Nintendo Switch output here?
i clicked ctrl alt print screen
sorry let me rephrase, I editted the above. What program was showing the Switch display feed?
elgato studio
Cord on the left is the Nintendo switch hdmi cord
Cord in the middle is the usb c elgato cord
And the cord on the right is the hdmi in elgato cord
The hdmi out elgato cable is plugged into hdmi switch which is plugged into the tv
Did I plug everything in correctly
glad its working
I'm so close to getting my setup perfect lol. When I use Elgato Studio, the latency feels amazing though :)
2 videos here to show the latency difference, my gaming PC's OBS is on the right hand side. Streaming PC's apps are on the left.
1st video is with Elgato Studio, 2nd video to showcase the latency increase.
Would anyone have an idea on why my 4K S Video has a lot of latency when previewing it through OBS?
Is buffering enabled on the video capture device properties accidentally?
What resolution and refresh rate are you running at? Some modes available to OBS will require using MJPEG compresion that adds to the latency
Its on auto-detect, let me try turning it to off
I'm capturing my PC at 4k (I'm sending a 2560x1440 Horizontal Feed + 1080x1920 Vertical Feed inside the 3840x2160 Capture Card for context)
I think framerate is capped at 60fps
but let em set it manually to 60 here
I'll look into the MJPEG compression and see if that can point me in some direction
ah it looks like MJPEG is only available, I'm guessing that is that then. Maybe I just need to add an audio delay to sync to video & then not worry about the latency
Yeah, that's one of the differences between 4KS and 4K X- 4K X uses a 10 Gbps USB connection so hand enough bandwidth to do 4K60 in NV12 uncompressed. 4K S has to use MJPEG to get it over 5 Gbps USB 3.0. The compression step adds some latency
But audio offset should help
No worries. Glad you've pretty much got the setup figured out there now
can the hd60x record at 4k 30 fps?
and if so, do i need my console at 4k in the settings or just the area im recording at 4k?
not sure if this is the correct place to ask
the thing is i had the option to set it to 4k on console, but now its not there
(when i was connected the capture card in correctly, it was giving an option for 4k, and then after a while it's not there)
Yes, and the source, your console will need to be in 4K. Note that if you have anything in the HDMI out that doesn't do 4K the option won't be available either though
but i dont need my monitor to be 4k right?
just the settings?
If the monitor is in HDMI OUT of the card, it needs to be 4K because that list of supported modes gets passed downstream to the cosole. If it's the monitor connected to the PC itself, then THAT doesn't need to be 4K
so does the hdmi out go to the console into the monitor?
It's optional - it allows latency free passthrough to a monitor. Most folks use it if they have a two screen setup or need to play in the TV at the same time
So it goes to a monitor or TV when in use
hmm
i'll guess i'll try use this info soon
thanks again
Good luck with it
Hi, I just got a 4K S and I was wondering does it have built in HDR tone mapping? I have it setup with OBS and have my Switch 2 connected. With HDR disabled all looks good. But with HDR enabled things look washed out. I've tried the OBS HDR tone mapping override effect filter but it doesn't have any effect.
Somebody please help, I made this recording but I can’t view or open it!
What’s the file format; what encoder setting and what file type?
When I go home I can tell you, can’t remember from the top of my head. But I made a 20 second recording as a tester and it worked fine, I could preview edit etc
It does have tonemapping yes. You can turn it off with Elgato Studio in the pullout side panel (the settings saves on the card so you can use it with OBS after and OBS's tonemapping will take over if you didn't configure it for HDR)..
Yes you do
i thought thats only if you actually want to see in 4k
If you want to record in 4K, and the monitor/TV is in HDMI OUT it has to be in 4K for the option to be available. If it's not in the HDMI OUT port of the card it doesn't matter, the card will expose all modes because it doesn't have to keep compatibility with the monitor
oh
need some help im looking for this firmware version 22.04.07 (MCU Version 22.04.08) for the hd60 X the 4k capture utility will not update the card
What revision of card do you have? That firmware isn't compatible with Rev2 (which shows up as Elgato HD60 X in the drop down instead of Game Capture HD60 X).
Also is there any particular reason you're trying to downgrade? Current firmware is 22.04.26 or 23.04.26 iirc, depending on the hardware revision.
dose this help
You have a Rev 2 card - it is going to require a 23.xx.xx firmware or higher.
Why were you trying to downgrade?
There may be other solutions
So the problem I am having when I have my PlayStation running through the card and have none of the software open I still get a black screen on my TV when the HDCP is turned on which then I have to unplug everything just to watch YouTube on Netflix on my PlayStation but I did not have to do that with the old hd60
That's a HDCP limitation. it SHOULD have also applied to your HD60 though in the past there have been issues with the really old cards and some of the newer HDCP revisions. HDCP is a content protection - it's litereally desgiend to prevent capture.
But yes, that's going to be an issue if you want to use your PS5 to watch protected content
It's not exactly something Elgato can bypass without getting into legal trouble and having their products lose their HDMI certification, possibly blocked from sale
But before it would only turn the screen black if I opened any software like OBS or stream Labs but if my PC was turned off I had no problem watching anything
Could be due to different revision of HDCP being supported the new hardware or just hardware changes to the chipset used. The original HD60 was a lot more limited, and couldn't even change EDIDs, so it's possible it's routing worked differently. I didn't have the old card, but I've never seen any of the newer ones allow HDCP through even when the PC is off (though generally when the PC is off the passthrough stops anyway because the passthrough circuit is no longer powered)
Will I have power going to my USB ports so it's always powered
Fair - some motherboards have that. It won't help with the HDCP sadly
So at the end of day I'm going to have to disconnect it all the time just to watch Netflix on my PlayStation
Generally yes - that'll happen with any modern and certified card. We're not allowed to talk about the issue much beyond that here since this is an official brand server and there's legal implications to bypass.
Only other way I could suggest dealing with it that isn't bypass is if you have something like a HDMI matrix and more than one HDMI input available on your monitor. Run the PS5 into that - one out goes to capture card then monitor, the otehr goes straight to monitor. Then you could switch the matric output and monitor input and it'd be moving the cable over without unplugging. Still a hassle but it works just like moving the plug over
Since the capture card is removed from the equation
Already been warned by the admins once before on going past it with that, so can't help further with the HDCP issue, sorry
Thanks, I haven't disabled it then. But in both Elgato Studio and OBS it doesn't seem like it's being applied. Lighting still looks very off in game, and things look relatively washed out and overblown. Is this just HDR tone mapping not being 100% so to speak overall in mapping it back to SDR?
I get you I'm not trying to bypass anything to do anything illegal it was just the way that my old card works when I wasn't streaming or recording any game footage you know the pass through still let me watch netflix just means I'll have to do some creative cable management to make it easy to unplug the capture card and then plug in my TV
Without a picture I could only guess, but that's a pretty common issue with it - the washing out especially
Yeah, the old card was limited to 1080p60 and much older versions of HDCP. A lot has changed since the early days and things work differently with the newer revisions - it sounds like that's one of the changes sadly. I've a few cards here, but none old enough that they'd work with HDCP versions as old as that card would.
Personally I keep my card next to the monitor so I can switch things over if I need, and had a HDMI dongle on the monitor so I didn't need to get right to the back of it all the time, but everyone's layout is different.
