#How to remove cfx.re's default chat

:rocket: Congratulations @stiff glen, you leveled up to <@&1005551371765956658>!
Now you can chat in #old-homelab-24h1-25h1, #old-cooking-24h1-25h1, #old-aviation-24h1-25h1!
your not supposed to replace the chat resource
you just add themes to it
i cant even find the base chat
it was moved, because the new one contains performance improvements, and more importantly, big security updates
and so, every server needed to get it
so where is it
same place as txadmin, in the artifacts
however
i wouldnt delete it from there
there is a convar in your server cfg
that routes the chat resource to the one in the artifacts
just remove that and u should be good
2 secs
ok
set resources_useSystemChat true
set that to false and you should be good
though, i do highly recommend against not using the new one
.
the chat in the artifacts, is different to the normal chat resource you get
the new one is safer, yes
because people cant leak and backdoor the chat?
hence it being moved
its more todo with commands
okaty
people were able to "spoof" chat calls
to execute commands they otherwise shouldnt have been able to
ah okay so can people do that with like custom chats?
since most of them are not, updated, yes
okay
however
as i say, your not actually supposed to override the resource for custom chats
theres a pretty cool "theme" system
to customise the chat
then why do so many people do it/
?
do most people not understand the risk of it?
or is it just genuinly safer mainly
because most people just go "ooooo, coool uiii"
and put it in their server
yeah
most server owners really dont think about general security on there server
and then complain when they have loads of cheaters xD
meh, pulling IPs isnt really useful
it is when u know how to do stuff with it
yeah, thats how FiveM works
nah, not really
you can literally just google search for someones IP
after all, the actual name is a Public IPv4
yea
Think of the fxserver as a postman, and your IP is the address, it has to deliver the package
yea
yeah
but, for example , over here in the UK,
DDoSing aint going to work, since theres no attack vectors into it,
and for location wise, you would be lucky to even get the correct city
my IP currently reports me in london, a 4 hour drive away
