Having trouble running as well, either with Proton-GE or Experimental

Technical details here.

White screen upon bootup; then a crash.

OS: Fedora Linux 38 (KDE Plasma) KERNEL: 6.3.12-200.fc38.x86_64 CPU: 11th Gen Intel Core i3-1115G4 @ 3.00GHz GPU: Intel Mesa Intel UHD (TGL GT2) GPU DRIVER: 4.6 Mesa 23.1.2RAM: 16 GB

Occurs both on KDE and GNOME Classic; Mesa drivers should be up to date. -DX12 flag, and wineD3D launch flags didn't seem to fix, nor did going into the ini and manually setting resolution.

Proton version used was GE-Proton7-55.

Me too on Steam Deck

The main problem with Linux Gaming is the graphic drivers... :/ And it's a mess depending on what's available for your distro and repo... Oh and just if it's your main OS or a VM or a secondary boot (some issue with conflicts between Windows and Linux dual-boots) and if you play on laptop or desk computer... So many variables :/
Linux gaming is not a thing yet only steam really improved it for their deck it still a "niche" thing even if this linux world offers the most customisable and stable and do not need to install a software to run python and windows trying to go for it and android is based on and.. Well it's still linux with all its branches going everywhere and nowhere at the same time maybe you can fix it yourself if you dedicate some time ๐Ÿ˜‰
@daring elbow you seem to have troubles with your "wine" environnement I got some same issues with Lutris while trying to run MTG Arena, find other drivers for my graphic card and tweeking with wine parameters solved it... Took me 4 hours and the next day an update ruined it because Lutris didn't update its repo xD

#

@fluid frost Which are the dependencies required to run the game and more precisely the Wine version required?
/ I know you don't have the answer but maybe the dev team would if they've tested it and ofc which Linux OS was tested?

#

Cause Debian makes it an ยตUbuntu compatible maybe a Debian but maybe not a Fedora or Mint depending on dependancies and versions needed

#

When I read myself I feel a professional deformation xD sorry for this just read and transfer the question to the dev team and forget the rest ๐Ÿ˜‰

We do not have official support for Linux, only support for Steam Deck. Apologies if the screenshot earlier in the thread caused confusion.

# fluid frost We do not have official support for Linux, only support for Steam Deck. Apologie...

But the Steam Deck compatibility needs dependencies for a Linux compliance and ItsCrowned seems to have trouble with Wine which is a kind of emulator from Windows to Linux and runs DirectX12 for Linux, that's the logs translated... So as your message stated (no Linux support) means Linux players should go to the steam deck documentation or ask steam which Wine environment or repo they use ?
// Not a critic there cause it's in the spirit of Linux pioneers to be curious and sometime it can run programs never made for and make it official but a clear answer leed a better way than saying "we do not support" even if it's a good answer but a commercial one, you're talking to Linux users where opensource and freedom is key \

As stated above @daring elbow for your Fedora system: First do an update of your graphic drivers, then try if it's not working ask steam or google it to find which wine version they're using, oh and be sure your graphic card can support it you seem to be on a laptop with an intel integrated graphic card... Runnning wine plus DX12 plus Ironsight can overheat and only an i3 even a 16GB RAM you got may be too much info for you processor to well process it all... If you manage to make it run I'll be very curious how ๐Ÿ˜‰

# gaunt valley As stated above <@551003805974790149> for your Fedora system: First do an update...

Drivers are on the latest stable version in the repos; didn't find anything on Steam after a while' so I hopped on here.

It is an iGPU, but an 11th generation one so pretty modern; newest OpenGL and modern Vulkan supported.

It's not even at a spot the i3 would be overwhelmed; it's immediately after launch, at most 10 seconds into a plain white screen. I don't see a reason my i3 would be holding it back at this point either, when comparing it to other games I've ran without issue that absolutely SHOULD not have ran on the system playably.

I'll keep looking, but it might just be a rolling release distro issue.

I was using Proton rather than Wine (also tried using Vulkan flags and leaving launch commands alone.)

@daring elbow did you ever get this to run?

oh ok.

Yoo i got it to run. You need to install gamemode and lib32-gamemode and set launch options to gamemoderun %command% like people on protondb say. If steam is open while installing gamemode, restart it. Seems to work on any proton version. @daring elbow

For some reason, the game only launches if I've started steam from the terminal
