Turning my graphics to ultra puts these black areas that take up half of the screen, meanwhile setting it to the lowest just makes everything brighter than the sun.
Before you say anything- NO, it is not a problem with my graphics card or processor. suggestions?

nobody answered, it would be safe to assume its a graphics card issue since i was using a laptop at the time

Try to check your contrast settings.

It would be useful to turn them down a little, that will decreade the brightness and darkness.
