are u sure
your resume shouldnt be pretty, keep the old font
you want ats to be able to read it
and different fonts can confuse it
yes it's designed to work with all fonts but your best bet is to use the fonts everyone else uses
those are the fonts they design and test it with primarily
Ats isnt visual afaik, it just copies and pastes basically
It works the exact same for any font
It just matters the unicode values
It doesnt use OCR
incorrect
"Most Applicant Tracking Systems use Optical Character Recognition (OCR), a special method of taking text from a document and converting it to a format optimized for data processing. While this technology is normally very accurate, it’s not completely foolproof."
from another source
"Most Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) use the same Optical Character Recognition (OCR) systems that Adobe Acrobat uses, but I would still recommend getting a second opinion"
Oh you’re right
Still pretty sure ATS is optimized more for sans serif than serif fonts
Anyways ignore the font, I’m not changing that
I can confirm it autofills perfectly in workday or any other ATS I’ve used
fair enough, content is more important
generally you want to follow the format of xyz bullet points, so
first 1/2 bullet points talk about what you accomplished
second 1/2 bullet points talk about quantitative metrics
last 1/2 bullet points talk about what you used to accomplish it
it's clear you did a lot of very meaningful and advanced work but imo it's not as well communicated as it could be
you're mixing the technologies with accomplishments and metrics which weakens the overall message
also, see if there's anything you can add to fill out your resume more. right now there's a lot of white space (also horizontally, there's several 1-3 word lines that waste space)
Do you mean separate bullet points for metrics and technical skills?
It seems confusing to talk about metrics without describing what you used to accomplish them in the same line
Yeah I am aware of this, I think anything I could add at this point would water down the quality a lot so I’m willing to accept the white space to make it more readable and ensure any part they skim is high quality
Especially a lot of those short lines is because they spill over which I cant help without either cutting them and losing info, or padding them and adding filler
bro asks for help but not willing to accept help
@hybrid mesa how do we test how well our resume can be parsed by ats
when you apply through workday, and it parses your experiences and projects well
it means ats parsed well
or so i like to think
i didnt expect so much pushback on a pretty widely accepted standard for resumes lol
what @reef furnace said. Also, most parsers use the same ocr as acrobat so if adobe acrobat can recognize it, good chance most ats will be able to as well
i aint payin for acrobat
wondering if there are free services online where i can upload my stuff to and it does it for me
What does 90% average mean? 3.6-3.7 gpa?
Looking the exact same as every other resume isnt a good thing tbh
Its only because people are lazy
acrobat has a free version iirc
if you care enough
not to pull this card but i have amazon, two of my friends have sig, i know someone with hrt, one person with google and one person with jane street. their resumes all have the same style font. there's a reason professional resumes don't use calibri
resumes aren't supposed to be visually appealing. they're supposed to convey your experience, skills, and what you bring to the table in the most effective way possible. anything that doesnt add to that (like a modern font) is irrelevant and potentially counterproductive
again it doesnt matter much but don't say people are lazy for doing the objective correct choice lol
like
make it easy for the recruiters
this has been said before
but like
make it an easy job for them to acknowledge your experience
I know a bunch of people at hft that dont use serif font’s also lol
Doesnt mean anything
Agreed for format
But as long as the font is decent (aka not times new roman or calibri) its not gonna make or break it
but like
how do i put this
jake's template just has a weird way in which it actually goes and makes a difference
ngl just from a first glance, your resume looks like its hard to read bc it seems as if you used arial everywhere
maybe thats what is doing it
I think its opposite, especially for technologies you usually see them in sans serif so its quicker to recognize them that way
Also so many resumes look absolutely identical
The goal is to make it easy to scan and find info by using a similar format, not to exactly copy every resume
Tirade
You forget that after ats there’s a human that’s gonna be reading your resume.
You asked for advice, we gave it
You don’t seem to want it so I wonder why you even posted your resume
I wanted useful advice đź’€
Saying you prefer serif font over sans serif isnt helpful
Jokes on me for expecting advice here I guess
1 font is so much easier to parse in the ats than another font
And getting through the ats can ultimately make the difference
It all gets parsed the same
I’ve seen 0 evidence for this
Any basic font will parse just as well
Test it
I have
