why? im not international but just askin
for entry-level most companies don't want to sponsor
it costs $$$ and the market is already saturated with new grads
and then you have the current economic climate + massive layoffs which makes things worse
also he's a sophomore and a lot of companies want juniors/seniors who can join full-time relatively soon
Yes that + you're a sophomore with no experience. I suggest you keep applying everywhere including to fall 2023 & spring 2024 internships; also go ask your professors if you can do some research or coding related activity over the summer; that way you're better prepared for next year.
You technically don't need sponsorship to intern but you still need to provide legal documents for your I-9 and your offer might get rescinded once they find out you're not a citizen/permanent resident
If I applied to fall and spring would that mean taking a break semester of like a co-op program?
not necessarily no; a lot of places let you intern part-time
