I was sitting on a nest with a hatchling in front of me (in the same group, PvE), which ran off. A small time later, I tried to check the nest with E, but this instead caused me to pick up the hatchling, which at this point had moved far out of range.
I did a bit more investigation into this on a graybox, so I can confirm this bug isn't specific to the hatchling/nest interact options (though that is the most obviously incorrect thing this bug can cause that I've found). Whenever you have an "Interact" option (Eat, Drink, Pick Up, Check, etc.), it is not able to be overwritten by any new Interaction. But, when you lose whatever condition triggers that "Interact" (EX: A bug rolling away, a hatchling running), it will stay so long as some other type of interaction can appear. This allows you to eat after the bug rolls away so long as you are also able to drink, or for you to pick up the hatchling after it runs so long as you are also able to check a nest.

It likely is, but that couldn't be causing the problem with the hatchling, as the hatchling could get very, very far away and I could still grab them.
