Consider upping the server player count. I haven't been able to play at all since the new update, even during times that I thought would be normal numbers, still just absolutely full all the time. At least in my experience.

They would if they could. They WANT as many people playing the game on as fewer servers (less expensive) but too many players starts causing lag and increases the chance of crashing. Even on the gray box map, when we tested server load, 200 was as far as we could go, and that was a nightmare with how high the lag got (it was done to try a force crash, not as a playable amount)

Its important to keep in mind also that in addition to server technical limits, player density can have critical effects on PvP servers as well.

MM already feels like a warzone if you're near any notable landmark due to the unchecked RDM that goes on, I dont think making that worse is going to be positive until/unless the map size itself increases or gets additional surface area (landmarks, caves, etc) as most places are already claimed.

You might get away with like 50 more player slot without disrupting the pvp ecosystem, but you wouldn't get away with 100 more.

idk, I mean that's the point of pvp for it to be war right? idk. I don't play pvp so I guess I can't know what that's like and can only imagine, but part of me wants to be like lol it would be funny if no one got any territory cuz everyone kept fighting over it.

It is, but the problem is there's much more clans than there are territories that are actually livable. More importantly, if you get a large influx of fighting players at a location, it can be enough to lag out the server and players will start teleporting around, which is really terrible for PVP. More player slots would make this problem more common

Don’t forget that when a fight breaks out it’s not just about player density anymore. In fights you start loading so many other things. Additional animations, particles and their hitboxes when you use your breath attack, dead bodies and their physics on top of the new dragon that respawns. There are a lot of new variables that a server needs to account for in a fight, all things that increase lag. More people means more of these variables
