There are a few problems with IR’s inferno ability that make it incredibly difficult to use.
The first one is the most glaring, and the one that leads to the most frustration. In order to use inferno, you have to be standing completely still. I have to wonder for the reasoning behind this. Every other dragon can use their ability while moving. In addition IR is a close combat dragon, and its ability is a defensive combat ability. It’s nearly impossible to stay still during such a fight. When your inferno is most needed, it’s impossible to activate.
This is compounded by the inferno ability having a rather long activation time. Therefore, the inferno ability is very stressful and difficult to activate during the battles where it would actually be helpful, and often trying to activate just does more harm than good.
And that leads to the final reason. When you activate inferno, you’re giving a huge detriment to yourself because the fire is completely blinding. Especially at night, you become almost unable to see anything else around, especially not the dragons you are trying to fight.
So by trying to use your own ability meant to be your dragon’s special advantage, you become both unable to move for a period and unable to see for the entire time you’re using it. Instead of turning you into a formidable opponent, it turns you into a bumbling, sitting duck.
The solutions are easy and won’t change the balance of the game at all. They will make IR much more fun and viable to play, and reduce frustration immensely.
Make IR able to use its inferno while moving, and make it so the flames do not have such a blinding effect to the user. (Perhaps just make them not glow? Less particles? Or even go with this suggestion https://discord.com/channels/576933363672285186/1315875520755404871)
