#SS and BS ideas

Hello, I'd love to see for the SS to have more actions (example more emotes.) Example an emote that gives an alpha roar when you reach elder. I would also love to see that with the ss it'll make a sound if you do a deep dive for a long time and maybe a cool effect to go with it.

For the BS it would be awesome if we could charge other BS with our Q charge attack, for example in pvp if 3 BS acitvate their Q charge at the same time you recieve a boost or a cool visual effect from it. (Like the Bs is super charged.) It would also be really cool for the BS to have lighting or electricity appear on their bodies if they fly really fast or at the max of their speed when you have max movement mutation.

I would also love it if there could be a visual difference between Male and Female. Females could be more stealthy coloured (bcs they have to sit on a nest and not a sitting target practice and has more rounded spikes. Male is more brightly coloured to attract females and have bigger spikes to fight of competition.

Thank you for reading my post, I'll try to respond to replies if people got things to add or discuss ❤️

No support for the dimorphism, at least in this manner. Boring and generic. Give them either unique and interesting dimorphism or none at all (also females don't always have to be smaller and less ornamental)

//edit

I don't like the idea of them basing all their design decisions on HTTYD which is certainly not the only standard for dragon models. rather take inspiration from monster hunter if they must

# shell summit I didn't mean less ornamental, But in the httyd movies the females we're always ...

i hated the females have to be slim and sleek dragon designs they did. especially the "light fury"
i get why they did it but im glad DoD hasnt done that.
there will be other dragons with more obvious differences (the behemoths have some cool designs)
the BS shouldnt be too overpowered for a DLC dragon they already get a pretty good buff during a storm and can call it if you have enough in a group.
the SS ideas are just HTTYD things which im sure they want to steer away from going forward- they are already similar enough without pushing the boundaries into copywright territory. they already get an "alpha roar" anyway with the changed sounds.

against the idea of dimorphism in general, and hate the idea of dimorphism where males are all bigger and spikier and females are all smaller and less threatening, that's extremely boring and generic. not to mention that depending on species they have very different forms of dimorphism and it's annoying that everything always portrays females as smaller / weaker as if that's some kind of universal truth, many species don't have that kind of trend. anyways, if they want to allow different customization options or size options or such then that shouldn't be linked to male/female, they should just be options for everyone to choose or something

The dimorphism could be more subtle like the Males could be flashier in some species whereas in others it may be females. Roars could differentiate depending on gender they could be deeper, louder or have a different tone entirely.
I don't like the idea of different models or diff sizes. Certain dragons could have different displays. Like a male blitz could have a louder more broader broadcast. Whereas a female could just act as it is now
Like take how FlameStalker looks different but doesn't sound different there should be some sort of que that from further away you could tell if it's male or female.

I'm not going to comment on dimorphosm because I think that's really beyond the scope of pertinent issues in the game at this time.

I will say the idea that BS 'charges' other BS and buffs them to some degree is a really interesting idea that I think could actually add more to it's "support" functionality... but yeah other than that I don't really have any comment.

I love this, especially the diving sound for ss and possibly bs too i really really really want that and i also agree we should be able to do something with the q attack to charge other bs in your group or even ss too because they both have a charge up ability so itll be cool. But yes all around yes 👍🏾

And i know people said they want dod to steer away from httyd and ik they are trying to not go in that direction either, but taking some things from it isnt bad, a lot of us really really love the connection between dod and httyd and are just glad we can actually play similar dragons to what we watched growing up

guys i hate to break to yall arguying about dimorphism
there literally IS dimorphism ingame
SS - eye color (males have darker)
ASD - colors of membrane between spikes (females have less bright)
FS - male has a beard and spikes at the base of its tail
IR - the spikes on the back/neck continue as one, while females have a spot with no spikes at the start of their back
Blitz - males have longer claws and slighly sharper spikes in the back

Fire behemoths female have very long and menacing horns while im sure Ice behemoths have the opposite

The problem isn't the fact that the player base won't want it, the issue is if the game is too similar to DreamWorks characters, they can be sued for copyright infringement. Which would probably kill the game if they had to pay restitution. DoD's characters are already kinda hedging the line, and giving an alpha roar animation and a diving sound could push the game into lawsuit territory. (Also I'm pretty sure the noise toothless makes isn't a function of diving but rather charging up his fire attack, which he often but not always does while diving)

I think this kind of dimorphism is ok, as long as it stays balanced and is "mutual" in the sense that both male and female can have unique and interesting changes to them while keeping it subtle. though even in these examples the male trend is kind of annoying, so hopefully future breeds will have more examples like the female fireclaw behemoth

instead of just Male Large, Female Small, Male Spiky.

real world reptiles tend to have larger females than males in most species btw and would be more fun to see that style of dimorphism than making males always the more imposing ones (not yelling at the person Im responding to, just saying thoughts outloud regarding dimorphism in games)

//EDIT

for diving sound I suggest theyd add a wind "whoosh" noise at most, but please no high pitched whistling, thats not friendly to peoples ears

completely agree - in Behemoths its based on "the less rare gender need horns to fight each other to compete for the rarer one" which is male in fire and female in ice
ASDs are based on reptiles (and birds) where males have bright colors to flash for females while they have mute ones to hide better
SS is supposed to be genetics related (Z chromosome - which males have 2 of - makes the color darker based on old posts)
FS and Blitz are pretty generic
while IR is a mix: i would say its an interesting idea but it probably does fall into the generic box

There should be whistling on diving itll be more realistic in that small pockets of space will have air passing through hence it would sound like a whistling sound
