There were different shrooms for different dragons so the eldering could be completely different depending on the dragon. I wouldn't rule things out just because a drake cant fly or becaue a dragon is too big.

- eat near crystals
- Spit on Crystals
- kill dragons near Crystals (whats with PvE then?)
Even when it is something like "spit 10 times on the crystal with your Colour and get 1% tick" people would elder within a day and i dont think thats their way of how we should elder

Albiet sounds like a simple quest and is simple to execute if you have the time and access to a nest, it is difficult to piece out without hints and can be considered grindy to some more casual players
