#New Creature Concepts

and the odogaron! ugh i could say any monster from that series. they are so well designed even if some of their physical traits etc dont make sense "realistically" they made a game with a really cool style and their monsters feel so real.
They'd make for good additons for sure
I love the idea of completely physical dragons who are all about the physical aggression ❤️
Tigrex was my original favorite, until nergi showed up
i only hunted it once or twice. its so scary the way it throws its whole body at you. not even going to mention pickle jo
oooo thats pretty. i love the mane and the horns. that would make a great lightning dragon
Imagine a Jörmungandr themed dragon...
Lemme see if I can find some good videos of the ones you mentioned lucky, those are sick additions and I think the dev's could really work some magic with them

and lunastra.
Gore megala in particular would be interesting. Maybe it would have a poison breath weapon? With a special aoe aura for its ability where it releases scales into the surrounding area, causing minor poison and highlighting any creature hit as the dragon "senses" it.
I like that Idea Chaos!
As much as I like the designs for monster hunter creatures. I don't think we should aim to pull direct reference creatures into the game. There are certainly elements about the designs that could be used. For example, Nargacuga having a beak instead of the traditional snout is something I believe the new micro dragon is already getting. It's better to let the designs stand out and not really be a direct relation to any creatures from any other source of media. Another good idea would be a Large hulking Drake like Zinogre. But here's the thing. The Ice behemoth already appears to take some inspiration from the general concept if you look closely enough. So really, I think we should just let the devs cook, and if you can draw similarities to other creatures from other media, it's just an added bonus. (Shadowscale/Nightfury) for example.
SS is just toothless from HTTYD, like its not even close to being different. The point of this was to showcase designs that would be cool for the game; Regardless Ice drake does not fill out a mid tier, its a large creature that will basically have nothing to do with most aspects of the game on a regular gameplay loop. To tell them "no" make it not this or anything close to it due to it having too many similarities is silly. FS is just Safi-jiva as well any basic European dragon
I stated numerous times that I didn't want a copy but more of a similar creature to the design; I doubt any of us wants a 100% copy. More to see a similar monster emerge
Just saying my peace, better to be happy with what we're given than disappointed with what we weren't.
Never hurts to ask for things you'd like to see, they can't provide it if they don't know we want it. Something that I learned the hard way as a software tech
Fair enough.
You should throw some stuff you think would be neat in here too! It doesn't need to be from one spot or another; Could be myths and legends or even big monsters from other franchises. They asked I make a thread when I asked about it in the questions sub-category on discord so I did as I was asked; Whats the harm in giving them free Ideas?
That's a nice outlook on life if you don't want to ever get anything done.
The fact is, the devs made this for feedback and for ideas on what to do.
They WANT ideas, and these ideas are some of the most successful, recognizable, and prolific ideas that ever existed in gaming history.
I think they'd be a great addition to Day of Dragons, if the devs executed their implementation correctly.
Tbf, I don't use reddit so this is really the first time I've used any sort of discussion thread. I didn't have a problem with the ideas presented, infact I would love for more stuff like what was discussed to be added. I started a thread on some electric Behemoth concepts. I'm just saying the ideas still need to be somewhat realistic. And while drawing inspiration is fine, I think original concepts are much cooler and probable while taking some elements from pre-existing media, like with the shadowscale, the concept behind a dragon that shoots plasma and turns invisible isn't exclusive to httyd, just what popularized it, heck we didn't know they could turn invisible until the third movie ss was made to look like it because it's a solid design even then there are differences between the two. The Inferno Ravager can light itself on fire like the Monstrous Nightmare, and I love these similarities. Again, I was just tossing in my two cents, take what I have to say with a grain of salt. I'm just trying to be a real one.
On another note, as far as creature concepts go. Something that hasn't been discussed yet are the possible implications for a watery biome, and underwater combat. So, a leviathan would make a really interesting boss. Whether it's player or AI. It'd certainly be a cool addition, and could even work as a world border. Like older games used to do, making it come up and swallow the player if they get too close to the boundary or something along those lines. Given the art direction, something like a massive cephalopod-like creature would be a very interesting addition. Using it's tentacles to reach up and pull dragons from the air to a watery grave, but who knows. Clash of the Titans anyone?
I think that's pretty neat, I like the idea~
I would think that the underwater biome is going to need a ton of critters to make it feel as good as the air-content. (Same with land creatures), Big water monsters as well are usually more terrifying then those of land and air so... a Cthulhu like kraken monster would be a welcome addition in my book! Well done!
I'm a fan. I like it.
the dragon designs in DoD could use a little spice, i hope with their next ones they push some limits a little on design.
the nurse is brilliant and i love it. the FS and IR and Frostfel are your basic fire/ice dragon/wyvern. the SS is just toothless. the biolumin and Zygovo are great designs and feel unique like the nurse. the singe crest could have been just more i think the singecrest could have really used a bigger throat or a nose cavity to blast out its sounds and much longer legs to fish with. it needs longer backward teeth to help it hold fish too, its teeth are weird for a fish hunter.
Singe crest is just the Pteranodons from avatar lol
yes look at its teeth!
imagine if the singe had a nose like a parasaur instead
apparently these guys allegedly used their nose horns as sound amplifiers.
that'd be pretty nifty, imagine how loud it'd be
Hmmm... There's a interesting idea. A Sound dragon. Perhaps give it a chest sack for more air and a parasaurlike head. Make it a herbivore drake with a special ability where it uses echolocation to mark all surrounding creatures. It's Breath attack could be something like a shot of condensed air, doing more damage to flying units and knocking them out of flight. The blast itself would also be bigger to make hitting flying targets from the ground easier. As a catch, the shot itself doesn't do much damage. It wouldn't be fast, but it would be tough, kinda like the Nurse Dragon.
ooh good point chaos..
Thank you.
Just some more creature concepts, I'm a sucker for underwater content and I'd love to see a ton of underwater dragons emerge so that no matter where you go. Land, sea or sky .. you'll always have something to fear~
That loos sick
I love it, Imagine swimming and having that approach from the distance lol
Man I would be like swim faster it's gonna eat us XD but fun
This artwork is beautiful, but remember to credit the artist or make sure the image has a signature/watermark! artwork without credit may be removed; you can use reverse image searches to find the original
Most do. I will removed the ones who dont until I find their point of origin, these were just put here as concepts that could be used as inspiration~ nothing more
I think they said once if they made any mostly aquatic dragons, it would be in a expansion type thing, where they overhaul the swimming system
