i already have 100% decided on 2 alevels, physics and math. im considering further maths but im being told to not do it as it is probably js gna tank my average. for my 3rd a level im deciding between cs and chem, i prefer chem, but i know that some of the stuff in computer science is really good for aerospace. on the other hand some people like my physics teacher have told my that a lot of the stuff in computer science isnt related to what is needed for aerospace, or just isnt useful. i want to do chem but i just wna see if i should or if cs is rly that much better for what i wna do, lmk pls.
#A levels for aerospace/aeronautical engineering

further maths is no debate the best 3rd a level for aerospace engineering
chemistry and computer science are basically equal for aerospace
the only exception being if u wanna go USA or Canada
then chemistry is better
if not js take computer science if u cant do further maths as its easier than chem
then u might asw js take cs
if fm is too hard
i have to do either cs or chem
fm is in a diff block
my teacher said she dont think shes getting an A* in it it js sounds rly hard
its rlly not that bad if your doing 3 a levels, seeing as physics makes the whole mechanics topic which is about like what 30-40 percent of maths and fm incredibly easy
chemistry is arguably just as hard
i js checked munich prefers cs
idk i js pefer chem over cs plus i aint rly learn any cs the past 2 yrs we had such shit teachers ic;
ik delft dont rly care they js care abt the entrance exam
delft dont but munich also have an aptitude exam for entry
doing fm would significantly boost your grade
chem is the worst option of the 3
also if your concerned about the fact u didnt do any cs
its quite easy to catch up
quite a few ppl in my school did cs without doing gcse cs and got A/A*
Its quite forgiving as u can get ahead on programming js by doing a couse in the summer for what half an hour to an hour a day
also degree wise something to note
aerospace is THE MOST maths heavy engineering discipline which is why fm is so advised
alongside unis recommending it
and it also contains a lot of cs/programming
like majority of engineering degrees do now
in A levels they do python right?
your school will choose majority do python though cause its easiest
if your a private candidate u can choose yourself
its not rlly even a major topic
do a diff examboard
only ppl i hear complaing about pseudo do cambridge but anyway
fm and cs are factually much better than chemistry
for aerospace engineering
yh im in the 9-1 cie system
regardless for a level thats an advantage if anything
for a level cs
cause no coursework
like other boards
yh ik i alr picked cs but was considering changing it bc i prefer chem i js think its mroe interesting
yea its def not worth it
doing AS fm might be something to consider asw
but dont swap cs to chem
chem is much harder than cs
js to be a weaker applicant
i alr picked my a levels i did cs math fm and physics
u picked the best possible combo
Maths physics and btec engineering diploma
aerospace engineering
oh cool
I'm js not cut out for further math
or chem
i js picked the btec cause its better for some UK unis and degree apprenticeship
im also thinking of doing a research paper w a friend over the 2 yrs, i want good extracurriculars
same
im focusing on projects and extra curriculars a lot
over the next 2 years
im doing like 3 projects, stem racing, cansat competition, maths and physics olympiad, rocketry club, research papers, essay comps
wehre r u cs im in spain idk if i got allat around me
I'm in the UK
stem racing is global
also where u applying cs god damn
probs gonna apply TU Deflt, bristol, southampton, warwick, oxford, loughborough
gl bro maybe i see u at delft one day
u too
im js focusing on super/extra curricular a lot
cause my gcses are gonna be pretty mid
r u doing an internship
u got ur results right?
probs
nah im sitting m/j
but i know some of my grades will be mid
like i was thinking of applying for sum for better uni apps
would be good to do
im doing some work experience this summer
im mid finals rn its so cancer, i full focused sci and math and ignored everything else
did u already do gcse?
i neglected cs and chem too much
im doing my igcses rn
same
like i got an exam tmr
i have chem paper 1 tomorrow
my igcses?
yh
maths, physics, biology, chemistry, english language, english literature, computer science, design technology, religious studies
i was gna do dt for a levels but decided against it
i got coordinated science
only things i picked was cs business and geo wverything else was mandatory
dt is acc pretty good for engineering
fairs
ik for like cad design n that but im not doing 5 a levels
yea your combo of 4 is already rlly good
u can js do cad as a project
that would be great for personal statement
i still need to do a bit of research abt extracurriculars fr
i havent rly done anything yet
for ur research paper r u doing empirical or no?
i did an engineering challenge but got 4th bc our teacher told us that a marketing plan wasnt important lmao
i wrote an article on hypersonics
damn
like r u doing ur own research or summarising others
ive done a project which i got 2 awards for, the hypersonics article and i got work exp in 2 months
summarise
how u get awards for it
like where did u send it
i js submitted it for some awards
also solo or in groups
like gold crest
ok ill prob do that then
cause u have to document what each person contributed
did u have to present it or js send online and get the award
send
and competed w other ppl right?
damn u got hella extracurriculars for a gcse student btw
crazy work
one of them was competitive
the other wasn't
it was more js if your work met a good enough standard
had to lock in
cause ik my igs will be mid
js doing extra/supercurricular to compensate
none of them took that long tbh
and they were fun
how did u find out how to do all these extracurriculars btw
js on ur own or w teachers help
through teachers but also
i deadass js asked my ai
for engineering related extra curriculars
available in my country
alr bet
ima lock in for extras next yr cs ima have way more time
ok bro tysm for the help w this
gl w ur gcses n stuff
your welcome bro
