I'm excellent in math & chemistry, an A-A* student in physics & bio, but am only really interested in philosophy & sociology. I have never entered a philosophy class, but I learn from YouTube, & am an A-B student in sociology. My female progenitor wants to head into medicine, but my male progenitor wants me to head into engineering. I could do that, but I just don't have the interest. Should I do one of them to stand on my own 2 feet, then have all the fun I want in philosophy & sociology?
#What A-level subjects should I pick?

Depends where you are in the world honestly
If you are in Europe and plans to stay in Europe, do what you want
🇳🇬
but if you are an international student or planning to go somewhere where tuition is expensive, then do something with a good ROI and do your passion later in life
not gonna live / stay here tho
are you planning to study in the UK or the US
I don't think I will be able to help you with China since I know virtually nothing about studying in China. But the rule of thumb still stands.
sigh
If you are planning to live in a developed country + your tuition is cheap = Do whatever you want ( philosophy )
If your tuition is really expensive like the UK or US where you will be coming out with a lot of debt + you would need to secure a visa sponsorship to stay = focus on hard skills or more capitalistically useful careers like engineering
