Like would taking up law be wise for a CTS path or Criminology? But i only did a few months of stats an math and dropped because 4 A levels was stressing me.

Sociology isn’t that respected as an essay subject and it’s your only one with 2 stem

#

Law isn’t impossible but for a good uni you’d need work exp and like top tier extra curricular

drowsy pagoda
#

oh damn

#

yknow what i can do with this combo?

clear tusk
drowsy pagoda
#

ty then

crude reef
#

socio is an essay based subject, and so is psychology because it is not considered stem

crude reef
#

because you can definitely do law in university

#

doing a level law as a fourth would be more difficult as the workload of that is worse than maths

crude reef
clear tusk
#

sum like history or classics will always be better

#

but your right asw

#

buisness

#

isnt preferred at all

crude reef
#

history is only recommended for law due to the workload of the subject itself, not because what you learn in the subject being beneficial to the course

clear tusk
crude reef
#

there is equal consideration in most top universities, especially in the uk

#

because those unis prefer if you take essay-based subjects

#

you could do maths physics econ and get the same grades as someone who does socio psych history yet still have the same edge

#

many people get admitted into law with full maths and sciences

clear tusk
#

english lit history usually get in

#

ill find the source

#

and send it

crude reef
#

you're talking about cambridge uni aren't you

#

i've seen it i know it

clear tusk
#

ik ucl and cambridge

#

def prefer history english lit classics

#

im not saying his combo

#

is impossible for law

#

im js saying factually

#

somebody with classics history english lit

#

is more likely

#

to get in

crude reef
#

no

#

😭

#

there are more factors than just subjects gang

#

the admissions test, the personal statement

clear tusk
#

but its like u wanna give yourself the best chances possible for somewhere like oxbridge

#

like for eng chem and dt are both preffered subjects

#

but for mechanical courses dt

#

is better

crude reef
#

it's not the 'perfect' combo that cambridge likes to state, even then most people just have one subject from lit, history or modern languages

clear tusk
#

but after going back and reading entry reqs

#

it is a good combo js not "the best" combo

crude reef
#

because that's not really true

clear tusk
#

but u def right

#

icl

#

is work exp even that helpful anymore

#

in the UK

#

it feels like everybodys got it

#

schools give it out like candy

crude reef
#

because yeah everyone has it, but the difference is the impact it had on you and how it potentially changed your thinking, thus gearing you more for uni and what you aspire to do afterwards

clear tusk
#

ive got some this summer

#

but im mainly gonna focus on projects and awards

crude reef
clear tusk
crude reef
clear tusk
#

i thought these are more valuable than js reading?

#

im talking about stuff like this

crude reef
#

the whole point is why should they admit you, if you did 20 comps and you briefly mention it in the ps withouth any elaboration, why should the uni admit you because all they see is that you did comps, that's it

#

olympiads can be objectively more valuable than reading

#

it's just that cambridge and oxford expect students to have supercurriculars too, not just extracurriculars

clear tusk
#

im aiming for DA anyway which value diff things

crude reef
clear tusk
#

they value awards and projects

#

far more

#

than essay comps or reading

crude reef
clear tusk
#

i think they have diff names in other countries

crude reef
# clear tusk are u in UK?

i wanted to apply. i had looked into law apprenticeship programmes for the uk before i started a levels

clear tusk
#

at least for eng idk about law

#

applications are y13 same time as UCAS

crude reef
clear tusk
#

i think most of the big law firms and companies

#

offer after a level

#

ive only seen 1

#

that was gcse

crude reef
clear tusk
crude reef
#

wanting to introduce a curriculum like ib

clear tusk
#

they're releasing a new qualifcation soon asw

#

meant to replace btecs

crude reef
#

i guess to get people into vocational

#

not everyone wants to spearhead into harsh academics

clear tusk
#

v levels thats it

clear tusk
#

gonna take a while for t levels and v levels
