Mathematics

Physics

Further Mathematics

#

physics and math are like very imp but ucan change the f.math with something like cs

thanks for the info 😄

#

Don't recommend changing further maths with CS

I see

unless ur aiming for not necessarily a pure mechanical engineering degree but one of its disciples like mechatronics for example

#

that time yeah CS over FM

Oh ok, thanks

In engineering, maths > anything

Given phys is included

My school doesn’t offer Further Maths, I’m not sure on what to choose as an alternative... Chemistry or Computer Science. My school is recommending CS. What is your take

however
its not like u dont study cs at all

#

the first 2 years (before u specialize into a certain field) is general engineering
here you’d take math physics and so on
AND chemistry, cs and so on
whether u like it or not

Hi, thanks for replying

#

Ill be choosing chemistry, as I talked to someone knowledgeable in my school about this

#

And they said it doesn't really matter if I choose further maths or not

i mean

#

a lot of it's just memorization

#

for theory, especially if you compare to the sciences

#

and the programming you can learn in ALs is way more basic than most courses you'll find online

tacit scaffold
# brisk cloud do you really need cs over fm for mechatronics though? I don't think (cie) cs gi...

its not just about the programming
in mechatronics the theory part of CS is actually arguably as important as just pure coding
you’ll be dealing with motors, sensors etc all of which require some degree of CS theory

is it a requirement? no
that over further math? id argue yes
the further math content you’d study anyway but it isn’t like you’ll start the course and feel behind because u didn’t take further math
for cs it could feel that way if u dont know much

#

think of FM as an extra u can take if u have everything else sorted out that would genuinely make ur life easier at college simply because you’ve taken the content before
but it doesn’t fill a gap that needs to be filled before u enter college
