do you have clubs?
usually i would do one sports ec, one creative arts ec (dancing, art, singing, music, etc) & one smart ec (debate or a random club idk)
Try to get higher positions too like president/vice
my school does not any clubs only sports teams and MUN
its like model united nations
its basically jst a simulation of the UN where you roleplay diplomats to address global problems
you could also start a youtube channel or instagram page for your hobbies
How does that work?
Try making a passion project, such as a YT channel or a small business offering a solution for your local community.
You could also try taking courses in whatever field you're interested in (example: Harvard CS50 on edX if you're interested in Computer Science)
Also join clubs. That helps too. Even better if you're the club leader.
And most importantly, focus on ur grades before extracurriculars.
MUNs are nice u can try themm
if i buy the certificate on edx
it counts as an ec?
for harvard cs50
i didnt know that tbh
It will count as either an ec or academic rigor (not really sure)
An alternative to buying the certificate is showing that you did something using the knowledge you got from cs50 (there's an option to take the course for free, but no certificate. In that case, try sending a github repository of the projects you did in cs50, for example)
what if the project is really simple
i live in saudi arabia and i cant find many extracurriculars besides MUNs
Most universities start teaching cs from scratch, so if you take the cs50 course on edX, it'll still be regarded as getting ahead of your classmates in college. Don't worry about it being simple. Also, cs50 will be only simple at the start, then it gets gradually harder
i wanna buy the cs50 course but i gotta wait a few days till my parents are back home theyre not in my city, so can I still do the course
Same here. Try competitions (better if they're regional/national/global), a passion project (yt channel), research, clubs (if available) or taking courses on the field that interests you.
how do you get into the whole reserach thing
You could take the audit version of the course, which is for free but no certificate, until your parents come back, then they can pay for the certificate for you when you finish the course.
ohhh
how does the paying system work
do i have to complete the course on edx
and tHEN ill get the ceriticate i paid for?
Not necessarily. You can pay for the certificate at the beginning, mid-course, or at the end, but no matter what, you'll get the certificate when you finish the course.
ohh!
how does edx know i completed it
from the problem sets?
Yes. And the lectures.
right now i use this website
for the curse
