87 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
no one can answer this unless u tell us more about yourself ðŸ˜
i am not that good at math in general but i feel like if i practice enough for as and a level i might do well idk
do yall recommend it for someone who's okay ish at math
it also depends on what u wanna do in the future
getting in august
edexcel maths a
i think maths will open more doors for me so thats the main reason i wanna do it
what do you and ur teachers think you want to get?
do you have any plans?
ngl i cant say im expecting high scores but i am confident i would pass
uh like a band 6 atleast i hope (its not a great one ik)
depends on the boundaries this year tho
something in medical i guess
it's a huge field so i haven't really come to a conclusion yet
EEEEEEEEEEEE this is the absolute minimum to do ial maths in some schools, in mine it doesn't meet the minimum requirement
maths is useful for medical though
oh damn 💀
bro we start als
even before results come
yeah i heard
a common requirement for al maths is 7
u think it'll be worth trying for me?
mmmm, honestly yea
hmm
it'll be tough
do you know the requirements in your school
nope they didn't mention a thing about requirements
like our a level lessons start a week after we've finished taking igcses ðŸ˜
yeahhh idk that's just how it works here
we get 3 weeks of holidays in august tho
as exams are in may 25
it's weird yes 💀
ill be honest with you @rain crow
IGCSE grades wont contribute THAT much
my IGCSE grades was a B closer to an A (i never studied)
i only studeid at last, and most of the questions were so confusing
i hated math as my teacher wasnt that great, and she was so annoying
when i went into a levels, every teacher told me its not a good idea, and u cant do it/ it will be difficult, its better if u go to GED.
but i had the ambition to learn comptuer science in a levels, so i went and took a levels and math was one of the subjects
and @rain crow if you have a good teacher in a levels, then your set to go. A levels doesnt require THAT much IGCSES
and most of the concepts used in a levels that require IGCSES, just need some revision
for example. if your doing edexcel
paper 1 has a close connection to IGCSES, but you can still learn it there
so even if you got a C
you can do get in A levels if you put time into it, and your dedicated enough
im telling you based on experience.
also IAL indeed is hard, but if your dedicated enough to learning it, it'll seem like a breeze
your goal is to score the highest in paper 1 and paper 2
becuase paper 3 and paper 4, things start to get a little harder, and marks are harder to achieve and the grade thresholds are higher
you also have stats, which is honestly easy if you understand it.
thankyouuu @dim gorge ill keep these in mind
even s2?
This is what friends told me at A2, since they did it
whats the toughest lesson so far for u
for me its stats
since my teacher isnt that great
but stats is easy, i just didnt pay much attention, and my teacher made me hate it
IAL maths is not too bad
The problem lies in the difficulty increase by edexcel. And I mean it. There is a HUGE difficulty increase in the recent years
As somebody who has done 2019-2024 papers and repeated them twice even I struggled really bad with this session’s pure 2 and couldn’t even finish the paper
Maybe it’s just a skill issue on my part
But I do believe being good at IGCSEs will help for AS maths. Pure 1 is basically IGCSEs
Never thought pure 2 was too difficult until I did my paper
Really really bad yea I wish I was born a year earlier
😠idk why edexcel is doing this with igcse too
im worried because im gonna have to do p1 and p2 in jan 2026
by then its gonna be ?????????
edexcel fpm thresholds 💀
literally range from 135 to 184
alright thanks!
Gave +1 Rep to @merry solar (397)
would i regret this choice later tho
i see
If you’ve tried your best there will be no regrets
