Hi all. I had made the following post in the career advice channel but figured it wouldn't hurt asking it here either: I'm currently doing my A levels. I've been taking Comp Sci as an AS level but I'm battling with some of the topics and as a result I'm falling behind. As a consequence, I've been considering dropping it for English lit/Travel tourism. I'm currently taking Econ, Business Studies & English A levels and I intend to study a BA/Bsc in Econ and Finance in Uni. My question is, will universities frown on my combination of subjects if I decide to take English literature or travel and tourism in place of Comp Sci. Also, I've never done either of the two subjects I want to replace Comp Sci with at IG level and I'm particularly curious about travel and tourism-for those of you doing it, do you consider it a common sense subject? I had looked at some of the question papers for the subject and without having formerly studied it I was able to answer most of the questions correctly but I don't want to get ahead of myself. Final question: How much reading(i.e: how many books will I be reading) and writting is involved in English lit? Thanks all.

NO! Do not take Comp Sci, Imo i find it really heavy. If youre majoring in it in university then ofcourse take it. But if not its really useless unless your major in uni has something to do with teachnology. I prefer Travel and tourism as its easier and is more doable. Its easy to understand and all you have to do to get an answer is think of the consumer or the hotel or whatever the quesiton asks. I would say Travel & tourism would be the best option.

I can also send you some notes or the book if you want to dm me. Yes it IS a common sense subject

if you're already doing eng lang then taking eng lit may just be considered the same subject since it's both english

#

why not take a level maths instead?

#

i know that it is usually a required subject anyways

#

al eng lit consists of lots of reading and writing

#

instead, you could drop to three subjects only or stick with cs

#

i don't really see travel and tourism nor eng lit being a good fourth subject for you
