what are some good general, and maybe even unique, extracurriculars a person can do, which will appeal to top unis.
ik there's extracurriculars which need to relate to your course - i'm planning something stem related but not sure what specifically.
but any great general extracurriculars suggestions are okay
and if by chance yk anyone who got into a top uni can u share what extracurriculars they did

thanks ❤️

My senior got into a top uni(top 20 in world) last year, she entered computer science and got a scholarship for about 80,000 USD. She was very into athletics and won medals for our school often. She also made a few apps. She also played basketball, was part of student council and hosted a lot of our school events.

#

my sister also got into a top uni(top 150 in world, but no 1 in the country). My sister was captain of her school's hockey team, winning every season. She also did other sports like tennis and athletics. She played chess but quit quickly. idk what else she did

my brother(top 300 in world) did computer science, he is a really good actor and participated in his school plays and won awards for it, his supplements may have helped his admission. He also did football.

oh yeah, I have another senior(top 150 in world but top 5 in country), she was student council president, gave lessons on her instrument for 3 years, was a section leader in orchestra, captain of netball team, in the swimming team, hosted school events.

but in the end, if you want stem related things, if you can enter math olympiads, no one I know did because we dont have any in my country.

#

try and do stuff related to your major perhaps, if you want to do computer science? make an app. electrical engineering? build a robot. biology? get an internship at a hospital

#

or just do what you find fun

#

I also forgot to say, everyone I listed had at least 1 year of community service and 2+ hiking journeys

how do these kids make apps? are they programming prodigies or something because it's not realistic at all for a 16/17 y.o to program an app

#

it takes YEARS of coding experience

#

which is why major apps have whole teams of engineers coding it etc

#

???

You're better off making it a habit

#

Try solving 1 leetcode problem everyday, and making one project a week

#

It builds up over time and makes your resume look nice

#

Also connections are really important

#

Participate in stuff like hackathons or online competitive programming competitions. My friend got the contact of a person from Taiwans national cybersecurity team by simply competing in a hackathon. Goes a long way
