I am wondering if they actually matter in applying to universities? Lets say I get horrendous grades in igcse but did really well in a level. Will they reject because of my low igcse grades?

yes they do matter - so you should try hard
but a levels matter a lot more and honestly imo those grades will demonstrate not only significant improvement but also tremendous willpower
there may be some universities who still reject you because of bad igcses but its not all of them for sure

your a level results will be the most important but understand that universities would still ask for certain grades in ig as well
it's also a bad sign for unis if they look at your application and see that you did shit in ig even if you did much better in a levels

In IGCSES and I’m not taking maths again in ALs, just Bio, Physics and Chem. I put in no effort for Maths when I was doing the IGCSEs. Because of some complications at the time, I only got three months to complete the maths syllabus along with another two subs.

you dont need to worry about igcse grades if u apply to canada unis but for US unis yea they matter
