lil bg of me i am so good at bio and i found it interesting tho i have always loved any thing tech related and i have always found it fascinating even more than any science related field but idk if i am actually good at it. Which field would u think would be suitable for me, i have always heard that computer science is a very saturated and competitive field that is why i am sacred i may not succeed in the field. Also i think being a software programmer suits my personality more then being a doctor. Thanks in advance!

@tribal flare so sorry for the ping but i think u r the only one that can help i really need this asap
how good and passionate are you at chem and physics?
i found physics hooking and chemistry wasn't bad for me comapred to my classmates
now you've already seen i hate economic's opinion on cs so i don't really have to talk much on cs and software engineering however it's true the cs field is oversaturated and you must be unique and good at what you do to secure a job, there are possibilities it might die
you can always go into science-related courses that isn't med such as biochem, biotech, engineering, environmental sciences
are you planning on doing a levels?
and when do you sit your igcse
yeah
this session
i have till septembers to decide my als
i am going to do AS math in the summer but either way i will need it in both majors
i might just do medcine straight away if that is the case
do you want to do medicine/parents are pushing towards it?
they are not
they are ok with me being in one of the 2 fields
okay so what you can do is you'd probably be taking bio, chem, phys and maths in your a levels anyways right
Al Math, FM, Physics and CS were my inital plan if i am going to major in medcine i might just take Al math and the 3 sceinces
because with maths and 3 sciences you can still get into a cs degree
so my take is that you do maths and 3 sciences and by your a2 exams or after your a levels you'd know what you want to in life
because with maths and 3 sciences, there's med, there's cs, there's engineering so you're giving yourself variety
mhm i would think abt that but how do i actually know that i am good at CS and that is what i want
yeah true i would take with my teachers abt that
since i'm assuming you didn't take ig cs, you technically have no idea whether that's something you really want to do, it's coming from pure passoin
you're leaning towards cs because you're passionate and interested in it
yeah i am that is exactly my case
what if i check out ig cs? the thing is everyone said it's so easy but would it be enough to decide?
the thing with ig cs is that it mostly focuses on the theory part instead of the practical aspect (which is why it's said to be easy) so it's not much of a proper representation, you can check out the al cs syllabus
there's one thing on being passionate and interested in cs as a career but will you still be as interested when you have to sit down and study for it
i am planning to learn coding during the summer as well as learning AS math would that be enough to give me a representation of what i want?
i think that would give you good insight on what cs is as a career
so you should definitely go for it as a side hobby
learn something new
however for the a level subject combination aspect, since you're also interested in med, best to go for 3 sciences and maths
can i replace one of the sciences with FM beacuse that would be more beneficial if i actually majored in CS
and which one of the 3 sciences do u recommend me to replace
okay so problem is for med you will be required to have bio, chem and phys or maths
for cs you need maths and phys
oh
you must have bio and chem for med as they are the most important
and unis typically require both of those for admission
yeah
ok so it's the math and the 3 sciences then
yeah unless you add fm as a fifth which i don't recommend doing, you can't drop any science for fm
oh ok
thank you so much i would still talk to my parents and teachers, and if i loved learning coding then i will go for cs .other then that i am so grateful for ur help and i appreciate using ur time to help me
Gave +1 Rep to 17269 (1012)
no worries <33
i dont think thats the case for the majority of unis
i think they require usually 3 a levels: bio, chem, math
pshycis just increases ur chances
i recommend taking another clinical subject if u want to do medicine like psych or sociology
if you see my message i wrote bio, chem and phys or maths
meaning you can either have phys or maths
ohh mb i saw it as and
thats why i was confused
no worries
the guy who got warned for having an unpingable name
is that all u remember
yes that is all i remember
you didn't do much other than that
