is A level chemistry bad? Im looking to pursue a career in comp sci.

Idk whether to take chemistry or not but I currently have taken psychology cuz my mom made me.

A* scorer in A level chemistry here

i would say yeah its very hard

were u good at IGCSE chemistry

bc A level chemistry is much much much harder

my friends got As and A*s in IGCSE chemistry but in AS level dropped down to Ds and Es

so yeah its very hard

but the key to scoring high is legitimately enjoying the subject by itself and thus having the motivation to study it for the fun of it not just to score well

i legit enjoy chemistry and want to pursue a career in it and thats why i scored high

if u dont enjoy chemistry by itself

i would recommend u not take it

I dont really hate chemistry I find it fun at times and I know I will probably manage in A levels but I have already taken physics, maths and cs so i thought why burden myself wwith another tough subject

For the time being I will do psychology for a week and if i hate it- which i might i think- I would switch to chemistry

if u take pysch, its not gonna benefit u for a CS career

and its gonna close ur option to go to local colleges

but if u take chem, ull enjoy the subject and ull be eligibile for local colleges, or if like chem or phy more than CS and want to change career paths into science u can do that too

pysch is not beneficial for u at all

as level is nothing like igcse, it is much much harder

my friends who got A*s in IGCSE got Ds Es and some Us in AS levels

bc their IG results made them overconfident

consistently study THROUGHOUT the year please, do past papers throughout the year

dont leave it up to 2 months before mocks because it WILL NOT WORK

1 hr a day consistently for one subject THROUGHOUT the year

is more than enough to get As and A*s

but u HAVE to be consistent to develop ur analysis skills

igcse is wayyy too easy which is why so many ppl score well get overconfident and screw up AS levels

in feb march 25 when u take ur AS levels, ull see it with ur classmates as well, the overconfidence

and then the bad results

if u don't hate math try FM as a fourth subject it's reallyy recommended in cs fields especially UK but for most countries u don't need more than 3 Als may i ask why r u taking a fourth Al?
