#IB’s or A-levels? CONTEXT IS IMPORTANT

For context, my school already provides the IB program, which we start working on right after our IGCSES. However, people have told me that taking the IB’s over A levels isnt advanteous because of these reasons:

  1. doesn’t match with IGCSES (and doesn’t include AS levels) which might not be favorable for universities (I might be spouting bs so tell me if I’m wrong)
  2. is more complicated and heavily relies on your last year, unlike the more dispersed and a little easier A Levels
  3. there were more but I forgot
Lastly, there’s also a psychological factor, that I really don’t want to change schools. If in any case, I move countries, I will most certainly do A levels. If not, i need to decide if i should change high schools just for the program.
Sorry for the long and disorganized context. I’d appreciate any explanation, tip, or advice.

Both AL and IBDP are equally recognised

I’d recommend opting for the course that allows you to study whatever you want to

#

AL is more liberal in terms of sub choices

I had a similar issue - for me it was deciding where I wanted to apply for university. If you want to apply UK, or are sure of what you want to study in future, I suggest you take A-Levels (I’ve heard its less work than IB but I could be wrong) because it will be a more specialized path wheras the IB will be more spread and more favorable in the more liberal colleges like in the US and will offer more flexibility in what you choose to study in the future. However, IB has the TOK and EE and whatnot which people say are time consuming and useless. A- Levels you will get to study the subjects you take on a deeper level. For me, (my school also offers IB) I chose to stay in the end because I realised I couldnt commit to one field of study so taking the IB would allow for more flexibility! I hope this helps
