#tips for med careers

I'm basing this on universities where I live (the UK) which is very competitive to get into medicine. The country that you are applying in, it may be easier to get into med.
A-levels: Chemistry and Biology are typically required by universities to apply for medicine, you will most likely (chances are next to 0 in the UK) not get in without Bio and Chem.
You can choose any third (and fourth, if you're doing 4) a-level BUT it should be a science/maths a-level, Psychology is fine as well. A-level Math is usually the third a-level that students pick but it is not compulsory.
The truth is is that all subjects are important for medicine, all/most of your GCSEs will have to be 8/9s and then whatever you take at A-level will have to be A or A^. A lot of universities consider an A^ in A-level Chemistry compulsory to even apply. Also, even if the entry requirements say A^AB or something at A-level... assume it means A^A^A^... There are so many people with the top grades applying that with less than top grades you will probably get pushed out.
I wanna do Bachelors in Science for uni, what type of career paths does it have?
Research, but you wouldn't be able to get a proper job unless you do a masters or PhD
thank you!!

ill probably take bio, chem, physics and eng (maybe math) a levels
and i took 8 igcses so hopefully that will be enough 🥹
most med applicants in the UK have 4 or even 5 a-levels... It's not mandatory but it makes you a more competitive candidate as you're up against the best students in the entire country.
why english? doesnt that seem a waste of time for a med student
i myself am taking med but taking physics or math as the additional subject is the smart choice
I was thinking this, but if they really don't like math then I think English should be replaced with Psychology
yea
wow thats honestly alot
i took 3 and it sucked the soul out of me 💀
I’m taking math chem bio phys
the things is im not sure if psychology will be available as an option in out school…
im probably gonna take bio chem phy
math ig ill see how it goes and decide from there
thank you for all the replies tho!!!
