#Broken Palette Links in Colour-Override?

Hi there! Sort of a high-level question, but I'm working on a few shots where I'm noticing that some Colour-Overrides don't work as intended. Opening them up shows that the colors in the Individual Colour Overrides tab are attempting to link to a palette in some sort of Environment or Job folder location that doesn't exist. Particularly files located in /USA_DB/, which feels like a Harmony Server thing? I want to say that the files were Exported from Harmony Server with the palettes stored in the scene, as the scene files I have do have Environment and Job folders with the associated palettes in them. But the link to the overrided colors in Colour-Override nodes don't seem to be updated and are causing issues. I've been manually deleting and relinking each color, so far, but it can be a tedious process.

  • Is this an issue that can be solved with checking off a specific export option in Harmony Server (I don't use Server and don't have the ability to see it's UI)?
  • Is there a script or function I don't know about that can relink Colour-Override node connections?
  • Is this just an oversight from a Harmony Server export?

Thanks in advance for any insight/help!

Hi, Leo Panthera
In Toon Boom Harmony database server mode,
Palettes linked outside of the scene may cause issues if the scene is transferred to another machine.
The path to the palette may no longer be available.

Yes, got that. However, upon opening scenes, it seems to be just the Color-Override node links that seem to be broken. Palettes in the Colour Palette tab are linked correctly to their palettes in the Job folder that's in the scene files.

That indicates to me that Harmony Server is capable of repackaging and relinking appropriate palettes upon export of the file. My bulleted questions above aren't quite answered, yet, unfortunately.

When you open a project file in Harmony software, does this "Colour Recovery" window pop up?

Yup! Using Advanced Palette Lists and no, Colour Recovery does not appear. Again, the color palettes work and are located properly. Maybe it wasn't super clear in my initial message (my bad), but the links within whatever currently existing Colour-Override Nodes in the scene, when it's opened, seem to be broken and need to be deleted and remade. Which can be problematic if there are many different, individually overridden colors to other RGB values.

To further explain my situation, it's a shot that was completed by someone else, complete with animation, effects, compositing, etc. They exported it out from Harmony Server so it can be opened up outside of the server on Standalone. I'm going in and providing some animation edits or whatever is needed. Nothing seems to be wrong when I open the file and when I export the scene with my animation fixes, I notice that whatever existing Colour-Override nodes for the compositing don't work any more. The color links in there are pointing to a non-existent (old) location, despite the palettes being locally found within the scene files.

To fix this, I've been manually going into each Colour-Override node to delete and relink each overridden color. I'm asking if there's a way to prevent this break in the first place, a way I can speed up the process, or if this is a glitch that can be fixed in further updates.
