Here's what I think: a veteran has at least been through a few seasons, flies well, can get through the trials decently and knows where at least some of the oob spots are. I've been playing since March and definitely am not there yet ... I still fly into walls and can't do the trials hardly at all ... I'm defnitely still a moth, though I also like the term butterfly for more intermediate players.

I guess what I mean is that I see veteran status in terms of skills not "age" -- if you can lead me through water trial youre prob a vet!

Maybe a butterfly knows the basic layout of the maps, doesn't walk into walls, has most if not all of the basic spirits, can do a competent candle run, maybe has at least a few cool cosmetics (though some players aren't into that and thats OK).

I think a Vet should be determined by HOW MANY SKY KIDS that you have HELPED during your Sky time. Cause noone pretty sure they can avoid flying into wall 100% and do trials perfectly. I am not interested in cool cosmetic cause cosmetic will return, but the inspirational story that sky kid went through which consider them as a true experienced Sky kid with a wonderful heart 👑

For real. Helping new players is important, though I respect that some people like to play solo.

But sometimes even relatively new unskilled players help other players. I know I did this a lot, but I still don't think of myself as veteran.

For me personally, these terms are just vague descriptions of a player's general proficiency and "vibes". I don't believe in a checklist to graduate from mothhood or into vets; instead one just seamlessly transition between them as they spend more time in the game.

Also I do find merit in having a way to describe old returning veterans who would be missing big chunks of knowledge that a continuous vet usually have. I can attest to this a bit.

I think because people play so differently vet is going to look different for each person. Some help starting when they are butterflies, some are solo all the way. Some discover oob and glitches and optimized routes quickly and others choose not to learn them so they keep exploring more loosely. I do think often when you start having unique things to show others (whether that’s old items, oob secrets, ubering your own route, creative shared spaces, etc) you’re moving towards being a vet

I'd mentioned in general sky discussion before but I'll say it again anyways.

From my observations, Home's small size and denser placement of important objects (namely the portals and the quest statue) means it is great for both people who are in hurry (more compact arrangement means you can do stuff faster) and people who want to chill out in quiet places (there's straight up no music, just ambience, and also little activity).

Aviary is larger and bustling. Even Aviary’s portals region, where music is also muted, is larger, has more going on, and is less compact than Home. That means it's for more social people who thrive in such places, and it really shines when you have time to spend...which kinda clashes with how its economy works unfortunately. It's a great place for events since things feel more lively in it, and accessibility features like that billboard doesn't feel as out of place as it would've been in Home.

Honestly, the fact that the Aviary portal is right in front of the player spawning into Home, as opposed to Home portal being off to the corner, is a point for me setting spawn in Home, since it's psychologically easier to go from Home to Aviary than the reverse.

For timing, it helps to honk three times on a consistent beat and then both hit accept when the fourth beat would happen. (Also, when teaching my friends how to do it, one of them didn't know ur supposed to exit the friend menu after offering piggy so that ur able to actually accept the other player's offer.) Oh this gives me an idea. Season of Nesting part 2 that’s inspired by this tradition; it allows you to make your home anywhere in the world, from Isle to Eden. Mechanically it’s basically just Shared Space+, where now you have a permanent Shared Space whose location you can track (probably showing up as an icon when you honk), and maybe the game adds a bunch of tents and house parts for use. No teleport to prevent players from cheesing it, and bc that’s just how people have done it in ye olde days lol.

The quests would probably take the player to various places to build homes for spirits or something.

• Provides motivations for players to explore and see the realms, since candle running is rather ineffective given that you're usually in a rush
• Allows players to "save" cool spots (your base's location would show up in map shrines, and can be revealed by honking)
• Shows respect for the game's playerbase by encouraging the emergent play styles and cultures that the players have developed

I wonder what the design philosophy for needing to light candle to talk (and said candle running out) was. I was gonna say we could just making it so the candle doesn't run out, but trying to light up the thing in the first place can be a pain when the server lags lol. I love this! I used to build my house in the secret cave under Grandma's, using a shared space spell that I renewed but I moved out of the cave and into my nest because we get so much more furniture there. I would totally move back into my cave!

Again, if it were to last for longer than the normal spell duration, players who have the 2 Embers Ultimate Cape have a gameplay advantage over those who do not have it. The Ult is only available by buying the Season Pass, which costs money. Therefore, to keep the bugged extended duration would be favoring those players because they gave TGC money.

I don’t see any fairness in it, which is why I have this gripe with it, and why I disagree with Hanaeha’s outrage over the bug being fixed.

Even with Ults (and double-limited collab Ults or IAPs), none of them offer a blatant gameplay advantage to people who have them. The scuba mask that the Abyss Guide offers in their quest tree functions the same as the scuba mask Abyss Ult. The Moments Camera Ult doesn’t have any inherent better zoom, brightness, or focus advantages over the regular camera, it just looks fancier. And with the introduction of the mannequin and item holder props introduced by Season of Nesting, it’s easier than ever before to share the ability to visit special collab areas with strangers. And the Wonderland door can be put in Shared Spaces too!

They’re all cosmetic differences at best, keys to access neat optional areas at worst.

Funnily enough, I was able to escape the Aviarylock curse with little issue, because my return shrine's saved location had been in Vault from the previous day's daily quests. I'd finished my dailies, turned them in at Old Home, then gone to bed. So using the return shrine took me back to Vault, I went all the way to the top and used the exit portal after viewing the Elder cutscene just in case and voila, my realm access was fully restored.
I got really lucky compared to a bunch of others.
