A companion cube is a metal cube decorated with a pink heart painted on all of its sides. It's from the puzzle game called Portal. You can use it to progress further in many levels of the game. As for what's in the companion cube, best research for yourself. Or don't. You might not like what you see, so you can choose to see it as a "cube-shaped friend" and leave it at that. In Sky: COTL, it's an exclusive prop for Steam (PC) players that can be bought for 120 candles (iirc) in the Aviary Village IAP shop.

Basically, I believe that the King’s icon was his last ditch attempt to stop the Diamond from going kaboom by using himself as a seal, but the Diamond exploded before the seal could be placed/finished. Something something, that TGC Q&A where they said something along the lines of “the King might still be around in some fashion, but we (the players) can’t save him anymore.”

hmm, if we’re talking about skykid-era sky then i dont think theres many but there does seem to be some unspoken rules when interacting with other players? eg bowing at someone when you light them up, rushing to someone when you see them losing light, helping people with doors. though theres no one enforcing these laws so it just seems to be common knowledge
past sky i feel might have been very different from now, since we saw by soldiers in wasteland and military-adjacent ancestors in rememberance so they did actually have things enforced? it might have been more lax in places like prairie and isle where the elders were more kind and cared more about their subjects, but i have a feeling that in places like wasteland and vault it might have been very enforced, valley too but dealt with more quietly

For those who need the pointer, the first section can actuallybe completed risk free, and it has dye, too. If you go into The Pit, then climb up the far wall, you can skip past the flying rocks section, which is also where a good amount of dye is.
