Um I have a quick question I miss playing the game even tho I stopped because for a while it felt like a chore gathering up candles and such but I wanna get back into the game but I’m feeling overwhelmed by what I’ve missed so I was wondering if anyone has any advice for me

I can only speak from experience
take it slow and do things that spark your interest. if candle running is a chore just don’t do it. fomo is hard to break if you had it but you feel better when you are not stressing over missing things. treat the game like a social adventure. you’re here to make friends and memories, not to horde cosmetics. cosmetics make you unique but if you got a set you like to wear no reason to fixate on the next big thing
also its never a bad idea to grab a friend in #looking-for-group-live or someone you know and let them guide you around to all the new areas

i remember my very first therapist seemed nice and all and i was happy to have someone to talk to, but then he went and told my parents that i couldn't be depressed because i like making jokes and have a sense of humor, as if that's not a very common coping mechanism for people suffering with mental illnessess thankfully i continued getting help from other therapists that DIDN'T completely invalidate me because i'm a person outside of my diagnoses

oh i dont mean to one-up you by the way, just to clarify. i thought i'd share my own experience while we were on the topic but now i realize maybe it wasn't too appropriate. either way i hope all goes well for you

You spelled it right, and yes it is very overstimulating but it's like that for a reason. Helmut's been deprived of any sensation for 20 years and is just now experiencing things again so it makes sense that everything would be overwhelming and loud and bright.

I think Double Fine really captured the sensation of what it's like to have a meltdown/be on the verge of one in PSI King's Sensorium. Everything is too much. Your clothes feel tight or itchy and wrong, the lights are too bright, it's too loud, and it builds and builds until you mentally snap. Raz helps Helmut learn to navigate his sensitivity and learn to adapt to and understand when a meltdown is going to happen and I think that's really sweet.

Great news cozy! My new therapist is really really nice! She said that she doesn't try to give people negative associations with food and cause eating disorders when I talked about how I had issues with stress eating leading to being overweight and struggling to stay healthy, which I appreciated. And she also gave me her phone number so I can text her if I ever need to change a meeting time or need someone to talk to. She is leagues better than my old therapist and it's only our first meeting. We haven't even started having actual therapy meetings yet.

think my scariest krill encounter was when i was with two friendos (shoutout to vic and toraa for being braver than i am) to help me with the pleading person that has the dramatic dont let go emote, we were on out way to a spirit when a krill passed through us and we all panicked, but i just flew away super far like... a good feet away from the group but from the corner of my eye i spotted the shrine area and just... took the chance and went for it, waited for the vision area to pass through the area and called my hardest to flip the crabs, got the shrine (im completioning ok) and gunned before another krill would pass through the area and carefully back to the gropu
but those seconds in the shrine and gun my way back to the group was tense as hell, and i was just a moth, a guy who had never seen these critters before and has never seen wat they actually did to you but they sound scary and how the hell did i survived all that gunning without being spotted once im never doing that again 🥹

I really like dark creatures, though when first staring out they terrified me, (mostly krill but this one time a crab screeched and ran up at me when I still didn’t know what they were) but they actually grew on me really quickly. In that first area where you see a krill, I used to hide in the broken temple spot all the time to play music for it.

the only time ive gotten caught by a krill was in... the treasure reef area, i forgot where the door was (had a video guide), and i wasnt quick enough to lose his sight, so i got charged right into the wall and lost 5 😔
then i learn later that they have a 8 cooldown of lock-on so only at the 7th to 8th second, i should bull-dodge them lol

My saddest krill encounter was I was leading 7 or 8 people and miscalculated the amount of time it takes for one to strike and got us all krilled like an inch above the platform

I was so scared of krill that a handful of strangers were nice enough to ferry me to the end so that I wouldn’t get attacked. Still a little spooked by krill and won’t get close if I don’t have to, but I also really want to hug them for some reason
