also to be fair with the community thing, i think of other games i play, and a good interaction with others can sometimes be the fondest memories i have of those games, regardless of how focused on multiplayer they are. i will always treasure the memories of playing mhgu back in the day... a hundred small groups of strangers working towards the same goal, a thousand small conversations had in that waiting room between hunts... nothing like it. i miss those days

I think sky community is super cute in the way that it's so important, player interaction is essential for the gameplay, most games I've played offer player interaction as an add on to the game, but with sky it's so integral. Also I really like how you can choose to leave people as a mystery, or light them up, or even friend them, it kind of mimics real life. Some people are strangers, but you can easily choose to recognize them more and even make friends with them

dark souls, i have three memories about its community.
one is a specific instance. one of the hardest bosses in the game gives a special reward if you cut off his tail, which is very hard even with an ally. someone summoned me to help them, and it must have taken us 20 tries. we spent an hour trying to do it, but when we did? i got re-summoned to a pile of gift bags and a thank you stone, and then we took him down for good. i think about that person a lot, bc i know i helped them and that makes me feel great.

the second is when i was helping people with a boss. i usually got summoned with another player, and we kinda kept recognising each other. on my last run of the day, i get summoned one final time... by that person. we greet each other with bows, and we say goodbye for the last time with bows, like old friends might.

and the third is more of a general thing. see, there's two places where after you beat the area boss you ring a bell... and that tolling sounds for every player nearby. to help someone with a boss, and to hear the bell ring out a minute later, signalling their success... dark souls may seem like such a gloomy game, but sometimes it can be beautiful with others.
