W/o the use of shapes I'd say it's pretty hard, but try and get a feel for what kind of emotion/energy you're going for with the pose. Think of overall body language. If the pose is sad, the amount of "space" the pose would take would be very little. If the pose was high energy, then itd be the opposite! References are also VERY important! Theyr great for guiding you and can help a ton! Pinterest is great for that 👀
With a reference, try and breakdown the anatomy to its bare-bone core (is the spine straight or curved, are the shoulders broad or slumped, etc.). Also try and think realistically in how parts of the body move, they'll make ur pose seem much more natural (stylized anatomy is a thing! But even then, they follow the basic principles)
