i think of an idea for an oc then a sort of theme.
it's like designing a character. I usually ask these type of questions: What do they do? What's their personality?
I usually go onto picrew to think of any outfit combinations that would fit. Sometimes I modify those outfits greatly to better fit their personality or whatever they do but it depends on you (sometimes i even design fully custom capes or pants)
Drawing them is like drawing people but it depends whether to give them normal masks or just human faces.
I'd say to experiment around until you find the right vibe for your sky oc.

skids dont really have a “requirement” to be a skid.. i mean other than like a cape or white hair those are usually common in most skid ocs
just have fun with it :D

light cores are also common but you could probably modify the shape or color if you got some funky idea behind that (like i do)

i made plenty of ocs for a certain story so their appearances in most of cases are kinda common
but their backstories are just i preferred to write more than tpo draw lmao

They can manipulate light but doing too much can create cracks in their skin like the one they have under the eye

Basically the core has too much light, allowing them to manipulate it a bit and use it

Seven of my sky ocs have a diamond-shaped core to identify that they're linked to their respective elder and can channel them or probably summon them like a stand but still not sure whetehr to implement that idea because it's funny

One of my sky ocs has stupidly powerful light but their body can't handle it well so they got some cracks. they have a nurse to help them recover after every dark creature hunt
