it's a mix of concept sky art reference (elder creatures reportedly had charcoal bones) and Neutron Stars (they have diamond cores, apprently)

-Bones made of light
-light is structured like atoms
-the light that makes his bones are structured like carbon
-they're very dense thus meaning diamond
-scars in the spine allow controlled light release to fuel cape

that's a very interesting connection!! I've never actually looked into land of the lustrous so I will check it out
