building on this (pun not intended) maybe the red glow of the crystal should give some faint red light to the building and the sky kid, and perhaps the sky kid could have a slight red tint (if most of the light is red, then it follows that the things exposed to the light are red).

Also it would be fun to see you explore the colors of the in-game Winged Light icon (aquamarine and orange) but that might be a bit of a pain to do

I just look at stuff like bird wing structure/bat wings/how other artists interpret sky capes
reality informs fiction and bridges the gap, because we're used to seeing how things work irl so if it can be replicated just as well in art, then it becomes better

my problem is that i make everything too real and it starts to look stupid ..
Hyper-realistic furries will always look like game monsters

Then I also look at stuff like pokemon because of how they simplify wing shapes - lugia/staraptor/etc.

I draw something I’m really proud of then i go to the coloring and it all falls apart

what you do is you look at a variety of inspirations to create your own hybrid, learning from multiple perspectives to filter through and find what you like through the problems others have reached on their own.

cuz in the end, an 'art style' is the visual manifestation of whatever design answer the individual artist found for themselves.

if you're still stuck, then that means you gotta look at more stuff~

it's less about the colouring 'style', but what you want your piece to evoke in the end. If it gets close, then I feel you're successful regardless of style.

it might be helpful to look at images that inspire you, color wise. like looking at aesthetic photos of things, or even just starting with a base color and adding colors later that compliment it

which is the boring part of drawing because it's repetitive and grindy, but it absolutely pays off

He looked at the waters and saw himself, he was now a skykid like them! But he still had parts of his krill self there, he had his horns and his tail, and felt like he can still transform into a Krill

So off Matoney went... to create his own journey in this new land...
