Update on the illuminated manuscript project I've decided to undertake, I will do a page for each realm, one for each season (the collaboration seasons will share a double page spread) double page spread for light and dark creatures each, and one for a vague "more to come" idea

well.. for sanctuary crabs I would describe them as shy at first and would try to attack people in defense but overtime they'll slowly open up their true feelings when they're comfortable. It also counts to the category of the 'friendly crab' but that's just my interpretation of my idea.

First u draw the front strand/bang(?) idk what that called 😔 and then for 3 thingys, think of it as wings, just like how angelic characters have wings around their head its same way to draw that also. One goes upward, make guidelines if needed (with slight curve ofc) then 2nd is more horizontal and 3rd is just downward (opposite of 1st strand)

If u observe it well, they draw the lineart, fill the gap with white base snd shade it. It happen so fast cuz its a speed up so u barely see it.

With pose like that, its no doubt its a base cuz it is once trendy pose and sm people make base for it. So ye tracing base isnt entirely wrong

Fantastic art, btw! I think what you might be seeing is that the hand feels too far curved over the head; it looks like it’s far closer over their face as opposed to actually resting on their head. I would push it back/foreshorten it a tad more, straighten out the fingies. It looks really really good, though! ^v^ holy smokes!

Make the eyes/cape more glowy, there gotta be light contrast too. the surrounding are dark so there has to be light somewhere

maybe you could add a light 'glow' around the character to make them stand out slightly more? it may not have to be much
im thinking like. i dont know if youve ever heard of Celeste but in that game theres a circle around the player of a sliiight light that brings focus to where you stand

you could also try making the rim lighting like. stronger? if that makes sense? like. either making it more neon or making the light cover more area, especially on their hair so you can more easily distinguish between it and the krill from a distance
and maaybbbe if youre feeling quirky you could use purpler tones for the blue cape to thematically combine the colors..

please do not mistake any of this feedback for me disliking what youve done here by the way the framing is AWESOME and seeing it develop as i lurk in sketches chat has been super cool

i think the krill is great, btw. i love how they sort of blend into tje background so you cant quite make out their shape, its suuuch a nice way to make something eerier /gen
