Ok for this spirit Idea I had for wasteland map, I wanted to add a krill / dark dragon whisperer like other whisperer spirits. And the accessories you get for this spirit is an instrument called a cello, why I chose a cello is because I wanted a more down toned instrument to fit the dark gloomy place and also to fit the dark dragon/ krill sound when they see you. And for the cape I added a krill tail, for this one Im still thinking on some lore. And lastly the mask Im still think on what to make it.

Oo looking great tho! You could duplicate the file and combine layers since it’s a sketch. You might want to combine layers anyways that have parts that aren’t touching so it’s easy to edit (like the hair layers you can do this)

Hm, yes the added streams of pigmentation on the canvas that is the hair, beautifully compliment each-other. This strategy helps distinguish the similarities in colors of the rainbow streak and the dumpling ponytails. If anything I appreciate this hairstyle more than the previous concepts. The brilliance of the angle beautifully adds to the overall feel of the piece. The contrast of the skin and hair just adds an extra level of beauty. The paint brush is an intelligent addition. OH GOOD HEAVENS, you added a great color for the background, it acts as a pedestal to all the vibrant hues. I like

That used to happen a lot on my old computer, but here’s the thing; the computer was actually old. If your device is on the older side and Krita hasn’t updated to the most recent version, then that’s why. I use it sometimes now on my brand new laptop, and everything works great!

im also just not used to working with so many colors at once (i usually try to stick to 5 or 3 colors)

okay so what I would suggest is, save your image as a flat jpg then open it up elsewhere
turn that whole thing to just black and white and only work with value

in that instance it's not about what colours you use, and rather making sure your piece is readable no matter how many colours you're using

I guess… maybe try making the rainbow colors at max saturation but everything a little desaturated? Idk if it’ll work, I just thought of it on the spot lol

I havent really learned much about color theory, so I’m not offended if you choose to not take advice. I generally color in flat colors because I’m lazy, and if I want to do shading, it’s usually using a transparent layer with blacks and whites 🥲
I’m best with graphite lol, and I’ve fallen in love with “ink” drawings digitally lol

I think to put it simply, have 3 different out puts for certain colors, usually make the flat color your default. Have two in the same color area, lighter ther color for highlights, solid the color will help on your depth and vibrancy

well i can see some colors but some merge into each other 🤔 i think thats cause some of the yellows and greens i used are very neon while other colors are pastels

forgive me for doing a quick edit but here's your rainbow one that you weren't feeling
the values were pretty similar to the character so it lacked sense of depth

ah right so value means light to dark, essentially
high value - brighter
low value - darker
then there's mid tones

my notes on your composition is to continue the good flow you have going but extend what you’re doing with the character to create a stronger sense of movement

so things like, making the hair fly the same way the spiral is going
make the long back braid bend a little as it flails around because randomness creates visual interest
then angling the cape to be more affected by the wind but also like

making use of the cape, you can have a secondary diagonal flow of the piece to draw your eye to the movement the character is doing with the arm, extending from the top of the cape down to the brush

points of interest that are different from your original:

• be more brave with overlapping the sides of the canvas, esp with creature limbs (it makes a good sense of space/scale)
• pick a light source and stick with it, it helps ground the piece and feel more realistic. In this case I just made it come from hard left and that's already made a pretty nice difference, with how I added the shadow to the creature, skid, and hills the same way
• ultimately if you look at this from afar, it follows the value composition you have from the original where the diamond head shape + foreground is the same value range, but I unified that with the skid so that's the first thing you notice, then you gradually see the limbs reach out from the creature
  I've made it subtle enough + the aid of the light direction that it's the second thing you see and it's then become a fun thing of like "oh wow it's a creature"

there's two things I'm deliberately doing here compositionally:

• making foreground + creature diamond the same value to draw contrast against the very bright bg
• I sprinkle the candles in the fg and lead them towards the back to draw the eye towards it (strategic placement). Because they are also the same colour as the creature -> it ties in the two halves of the piece together to feel more unified

this piece doesn't focus on saturation or bright colours to draw your eye
it's making use of muted tones/limited colour palette + clear value range between high and low values to make sure you see what you're supposed to see first
