here’s how I’d do it

personally, don’t just wing it (just following and using muscle memory for anatomy, don’t do that!) simplify the shapes and make your way up until it looks good. this also works for other stuff in art

and USE REFFERENCE PICS

also tip: if you want it to look lively, try exaggerating the feeling! (ex. if you want them to look tired, make them slouch and have their arms dangle etc)

This is what i do, i usually draw a line where i want the body to flow, then i shape the body parts around it

You have to know basic anatomy in order to do it but it you set your line of motion then you can make the body pose however you want

If this can help here's how I shade my capes- the closer I am to the source of light the more I erased on the shading layer- if you prefer a heavier shading style the right pic is essentially what I did

Here is how I'd shade it, if the light comes from a different direction the shading would change

Here there are no folds so it's easy c:
If the light comes from upwards the lighter part would be near the hair - but not directly under the hair because then there's a bit of shadow there. I hope I was at least a bit clear :')
