Oh that's a painted style I think! In painting you draw not with lines, but with shapes. Of course, you start with sketches before painting.

Tip if youre gonna do digital painting: remember to start with a good base sketch and clean-ish colors so its easier to paint and shade without having to change much of the original shapes!

Hmm… theres many different ways, some people just blob down shapes of color and get to rendering, others (like me) would rather use a sketch with colors underneath… overall you could think of it as acrylic painting, but since it’s digital you have hundreds of tools (which is both helpful and intimidating)

And here’s a cool trick- on some drawing softwares you can create a gradient map, basically meaning you choose a colour for each different shade value, so you automatically colour your artwork (sort of)

Oh you gotta open it more, chromatic aberration + noise are great for finishing touches to an artwork, and liquify is a life saver for adjusting sketches

Before these stripes were black to white, gradient map lets you assign a colour based on the darkness and lightness of the value if that makes sense

You just use it to push around an artwork, it’s great for a sketch if you need to re arrange proportions and stuff
And to answer your 2nd question, tapping on the gradient line at the bottom anywhere will let you create a new box so you can select a colour for the middle ground, etc

well.. what I do mostly is basically I create another layer for the shadows to get done. and then turn the layer to multiply and then alpha lock the base gray layer then paint the colours over it. then I set the shadow layer to multiply and then clip another layer onto it to give it a vibrant colour. Then later on I adjust colours and stuff and I know I might have done it wrong this whole time but it’s what I’ve done for months and makes things easier for me
