depends, sometimes mushrooms, sometimes flowers and leaves, the places they usually are in places with a lot of water or places that has a decent amount of rain. when raised as pets they should be in places with flowers, mushrooms, at least 1 pool of water, spaces they can share, small pillows are ideal, and food should be put in one big bowl bc they usually all eat together.

The blue undershirt is a skintight, insulated one for maximum warmth because the paths are cold, is tucked into pants
The overcoat is also warm but more decorative
The tassels are purely decorative and show how long one has been an apprentice for. The shorter it is, the earlier they are into training. Each stage of training is denoted by an extra band on the tassel, so it grows longer the further you progress.
I also imagine that each stage of the apprenticeship has the apprentice learning more things. Pre-apprentice would mostly just learn the layout and stuff of the paths, first stage might guide people, second stage would learn about the animals and how to monitor them from afar and guide them and such, third stage would learn how to clear blockages and stuff (like the gw quest) and so on probably
