I was thinking of making a skid OC based on the cosmetic (I’ve never made an OC, but it was such an arresting idea)...I was trying to figure out how in the world a dark plant could seed in its eye when they could probably burn it away with their light or something

Only explanation I had is that their mask got cracked and they got knocked out for a while, and it seeded itself enough that once it grow, burning it would hurt too much

But idk if a skid’s mask COULD crack. A skid can fall a long way and have no damage whatsoever r

I don’t know about skykids (although the darkness plant mask definitely seems to imply it) but a LOT of spirits have darkness plants growing out of them in their memories that you have to burn away to keep reliving them. Rejecting voyager has it happen twice, slumbering shipwright has it in one node on their memory, etc. It definitely seems to imply that darkness can either infect them or their memories to some extent… strangely enough, the sphere in their chests as you relive them looks a lot like a darkness bulb as well!

cannoneer was also partially affected by darkness (idk how to describe it) in abyss concept art but since its hard to tell if it’s still in the game, idk if that counts

corrupted skykids in my ficverse don't turn into krills, though I've likened them as "small, intelligent krill." how it works in my verse is that corrupted darkstone embeds in their shell, sucking out their light and warping their minds. they look like extinguished skykids but their eyes are void of light and their flame hole is red. corrupted skids begin to hunger for light and while they can be satiated by a candle cake, they can and often do pursue other skykids and suck the light out of them like vampires.

both Lutaku and Nanif were corrupted, but rebirth uncorrupts them. they're not the same though.

Nanif: Megabird keeps serving us up on a silver platter. They prob think they’re doing well but they’re not helping. Reminds me of the candlemaker skids who would leave candle cakes around for us corrupted ones, lauding themselves as charitable and kind, but fled or turned into crybabies the moment any of us showed up. At first I was in so much pain, I really did appreciate them. Then I realized that was all they were doing. I wanted them to help me in a more substantial way or even to be there for me, not feed me like an animal and bolt. So I started chasing after them. They all tasted the same. I bet you would too.

Tripitaka would be a Vault monk maybe? Sun might be from wasteland or the Valley...white dragon horse would be from the Forest, and Pigsy is maybe from Prairie?

Bull King is a good choice imo. He's a demon but afaik Sun Wukong befriends him (not sure if it was before Sun got recruited by Tripitaka or after the group's encounter with the Bull King). Friendship is a big thing in Sky so they could emphasize it further by showing Sun and Bull together

I think I remember that MK made friends with him before he went on his adventure and butted heads with him (and humiliated his wife, Princess Iron Fan lol)

I like that idea a lot tho. It could be a wholesome twist

Maybe the Spirits backstory is that they used to be friends and had a falling out

Bull King got jealous (and also Spirit MK is a bit arrogant and hurt his feelings too) and wanted to have the honor from the village in bringing the teachings home himself

Awesome ideas!! I wanna see how TGC would implement them in Sky. The myths and the characters don't sound insanely out of place in Sky on their own. I think it's possible for the devs to tweak some details a bit and end up with a solid season

Why does death and aging have to be a horrible experience

Also headcanon: the megabird (tho i like to refer to it as “her” and “motherbird”) is the eye of eden. When we die our light gets sucked into the eye and thus why we are called to it instead of the individual little statues. The void is the crystal/eye where our light and dark halves meet, and the mb is the center of it. Some may ask about the collapsing buildings and such, I just like to say those are collapsing memories of the old world as we leave it behind to be reborn. I pretty much like to think eden’s eye is like a black hole.

The Forest Elder is likely to be a blacksmith, which would check out with her being a representation of this version of Forest. Blacksmiths excell in craftsmanship, and from that concept art, they still have a turret and a tower standing tall unlike GW which got badly damaged by the battle that happened there

Sure but how are we able to interact with them in ||orbit ?|| I understand its not like we're speaking or leading them. How do the elders open the doors, is their memory rooms ( as i like to call it ) prerecorded in hopes or is this a fragment of a weak sole kept just for the skykids fire. This also makes me question why the elders weren't gifted fire, was it to control their power? Back to the memory rooms, how do they actually manage to use their powers in a half dreamlike kind state, we know that their probably not alive unless their trapped in some kind of process which allows them to sustain their lifeforce but be stranded in the room with the only available power being to open the doors. None of this probably makes sense but any theories welcome 💜

It analyses how skykids have a light within them.
One that they can take out and hold on a candle, it is the flam itself.

The concept art it shows is of how the devs wanted to show how skykids are not one thing, but a hybrid of diffferent creatues (symbolically in my opinion). A skykid has a soul of an ancestor, the purity of a light creature, and a flame within them.

The last part of the video shows when a skykid is without light, they become darkened and weak. Unable to fly, maintain their appearance, or hold a flame. While they can rekindle their own light, should they lose their cape (more so the winged light within them protecting their soul), they die.

The concept art and in certain livestreams of skykids do imply that skykids are similar to power diamonds (refined darkstone/artificial stars as concept art calls it), where they can store and give power to things with the light in them.
This can also be seen in the game with the use of colours.

In the game, there as certain colours that represent different parts/factions/aspects of the Sky World.
Yellow/white/oragne being light, and the flame. All things that are pure and holy
Blue/black represents the ancestors. Beings incapable of flight, though strived to reach the heavens by any means, which included creating technology to help them achieve this aspiration.
Red is the colour of corruption in Sky. While it is not the case with every time it is seen, though it is associated with corruption in the roar of a krill, the shard that harm the skykids, and the red glow dominating the Eye of Eden.}

After looking back at the concept art posted earlier in the channel, i’m pretty much blown away with what this game could have been . With its wonky controls though, the game is better that it’s been done this way. but honestly i think we missed out on a solid story with solid lore. Hopefully they make a game using the war concept and a boss battle.

Also i find the turrets less jarring (in a good way) for a sudden dangerous obstacle. I don’t think we had any warning sign/foreshadowing that the krill were coming, while the turrets are part of the architecture and so a better introduction to a dangerous element. Maybe the golden wasteland could have been just the turrets, to get the player wondering “why the heck did they need turrets” and then they go to eden to see the krill and be like “oh. That’s why.”

the Eden king aka Eden Elder aka the king is a figure that's simultaneously is and isn't present in the Sky world. they were present in concept development as a big bad boss figure we'd fight but ultimately save in Eden, having been corrupted, but that's no longer the case. devs have said that they're still in the game just not in a way you'd expect, so speculation on them is vague.

supposedly they oversaw Eden as their realm. some think they were behind the Eden calamity that ruined everything. some think they were the same as the prince or Chosen One depicted in the Cave of Prophecy murals. Chosen One, after completing the 4 Trials, could've been crowned prince and ascended into being king (hence pre-skykid civilization being referred to as "the Sky kingdom"). they might've had attained powers from completing all four trials that could've factored into the Eden calamity. they might've oversaw or greenlit power diamond production, the manufacturing of with increased darkness into the world and left it as it is today (see: Wasteland).

it's easy to cast them as the villain, however, cos they aren't here to defend themself. we don’t know who they were as a person or how to characterise them. they could have tried to reverse the effects of darkness corruption but failed. the corrupted diamond in Eden could've been their gift to the kingdom, not a manifestation of their greed or a "kill-all" switch.

That is an interesting point.
Even with the skykid is out of light, their clothes remain(albeit it being the default ones).
While I presume that the devs would more likely than not want to allow skykid to become naked, hence they are always clothed.

Though I would love to know if sky logic dictates that skykid's clothes are to be physical. Would they consider allowing skykid to keep their clothes in their original design, although darkened, just like the default outfit.
We are able to keep the shape of out capes, why not the clothes on our backs?

While the hair is another matter, one cannot argue the devs for wanting us skykids to either accept seeing bald skykids strangers, or incessantly chase after unacquainted skykids to be able to see them.

Well the guide's particle effects are blue instead of the usual guide's orange/yellow. I know it was mentioned in the blog/lore update post (blurgh) that the memories had light but it was cold

The shattering guide's particles move opposite ways away from us, unless we're standing directly in it, which it then "explodes" in random directions. Probably just an engine issue on that last one, but it's interesting nonetheless

Could be because the guide is a form of memory instead of an actual living (?) being, and instead of welcoming us, is rejecting us, as we're somewhere we shouldn't be

Isle Elder would be the most balanced in terms of defense, dps, agility and attack damage

Prairie Elder would have the highest defense but among the weakest attack damage

Forest Elder would have a balance between attack damage and agility

Valley Elders would have the highest DPS and highest agility but with the lowest defense

Wasteland Elder would have a balance between attack and defense

And Vault Elder would probably balanced like Isle sans the agility

This could tie in with TLP season's story metaphorically- The rose is the Isle Elder, the little prince being the prince of sky (the first skykid). The elder created the prince and cared for it deeply, however the prince left to explore the realms and create a kingdom. The elder wasted away, watching the prince's path of greed destroy the natural world. This explain's Isle Elder's solitude and disconnection from the other elders, maybe he was grieving?
Once again, not sure of specifics its just interesting to think about it

and, last but not least, sending this in a seperate message bc i think its CRUCIAL,

so many parasites and so many carnivorous plants because with the way Sky's energy distribution works (being near another light creature gives both of you light), there would be so much more incentive for carnivorous animals to be parasites and for carnivorous plants to exist.
Parasites typically cling directly onto the host, which, in sky, would MAXIMIZE their light gain and allow them to sap more if they so desire. This is mostly taking into account external parasites like fleas ticks leeches etc. bloodsuckers. bc skyworld works on Be Near Fellow Creature, Ambiently Gain Lifeforce so what better way to gain that lifeforce than to forcibly cling to said creature?
as for carnivorous plants, the way they eat their prey irl is... basically by letting them sit there and dissolve. with a slight tweak, something like that would be Perfectly Adapted to skyworld- a plant that traps its prey in a way that keeps it alive as long as possible, maybe even something fruit-bearing or releasing some light of its own to keep whatever it catches alive. it'd essentially be taking the digestive juices out of the carnivorous plants that already exist- maybe, say, a giant pitcher plant with a glowing anglerfish-type lure and a sticky sludge inside? or a venus flytrap that works more like a cage, or literally just a sundew plant

tldr: any given jellyfish, butterfly, manta *wooly or not), and probably even skykid, is 100% gonna be covered in, idk, hundreds of tiny flea-like mites that subsist off the ambient light emmited simply because sky's worldbuilding sets it up PERFECTLY to be a world full of parasites

lets face it, parasites are a driving force of evolution for all life on earth. Skyworld's light system basically means, to put it very bluntly, every animal ever is constantly emitting their own blood into the immediate area around them, and standing in the blood radius makes you absorb it. there will be animals specifically evolved to take advantage of that, whether or not it would harm the host. There are likely so many microscopic mites and other bugs on every creature. I am completely unapologetic when i say that your skykid is covered in bugs

I agree that darkness creatures are analogous to parasites, but i mean other light creatures i feel just don’t quite apply to that particular facet of biology, as sharing light only benefits, both in that that other creature stores more light, and that the other creature is then able to share light with the original “donor” at again no cost

So i would probably describe all light creatures as symbiotic to each other! Admittedly very similar to parasitism but i am a big nerd so 🤓

As an addition to the biology to sky, i think the reason why more predators and parasites arent seen in sky’s biology is due to the simple fact that it doesnt work from a survival of the fittest standpoint in the same way our biology does

In the real world, a successful organism is able to feed, find shelter, reproduce, and have similarly successful offspring, whether that is inherent, or also from raising the young, this all stemming from how if they fail at these, they most likely will not pass on their genes and reproduce

Light and dark creatures however, are more precreated (we assume, by the mega bird, and the repeated effects corruption has on such light creatures)

What determines whether a light creature is successful or not, is not reproduction, but successfully reincarnating, so the traits that are successful (with unsuccessful creatures dying and not reaching orbit) probably look more like: problem solving, powerful flight capabilities, the ability to evade or neutralise darkness based threats, and arguably altruism, as helping other light creatures causes more creatures to successfully reincarnate

For darkness creatures, it is still more similar to earth biology, but its still off the concept of sustaining ones self, not reproduction, as dark creatures from one light creature species that are bad at feeding without being neutralised most like die out, and are very uncommon, while successful feeders just dont die, and build up, similar to a plaque

In conclusion there probably aren’t many microbes in sky, as if they were on a skykid, the sky kid would miraculously regain light for no apparent reason, and no corrupted microbes, as they would likely be annihilated by the hosts much larger source of light, or from orbits light, or they would kill the host, and then not reproduce, stay on the now foodless corpse, and die

They definitely do take light away (and probably feed off of that) its just that theyre unable to properly destroy/eat winged light, as its technically not the same thing as straight up stored light

so we are able to recover WL after loosing it, but our light for flying remains gone until we are able to find a source of light again

They probably do this with the gem on the end of their head, that makes the spotlight, much like how if you touch a big red gem all your light is sucked out, if a krill rams its gem into a light creature, it is sucked up

The tall tower in Abyss could be a lighthouse that Spirits built after the quarry had sunken

It could also be a "bellhouse." Just one tall tower with a huge bell at the top to attract Mantas into the quarry. We've seen murals of Spirits using handbells to attract the Mantas in so they could've invested some time to make a bigger bell

Maybe it was also some sort of sentry that guarded quarry while it was still under operation

It wouldn't make sense to have a lighthouse or a bellhouse in PNR so the tower there could also be a sentry that guarded the red diamond. Maybe it was just a funny looking pillar or a deformed statue of somebody. I'm throwing out ideas here since I don't know what PNR statue is being talked about

I could make sense as a light house, since the purpose of a light house it to help guide ships and prevent them from colliding with isalnds, rocks or miss a port when it is dark, or in weather that limits visibility.
During the day, the light house still works to help boats since its light can still be used to get the attention of boats.
While the tower itself does not seem to have a proper place for a light to be present (as the diamond at the front would not work for ships coming at different angles), I like to propose that there may have been a diamond floating at the top of the tower that gives light.

Hey Lorechat! I have a theory on the destruction of the Sky Kingdom. We know that the prophecy lights came with an element it controlled given by 'Megabird' to the King who in turn gave it to the Elders. When the elders started upsetting the balance of the Sky Kingdom, even maybe disturbing their, quite possibly, their lifecycle (citing the 'Holy Land & Life Cycle concept art). Megabird then retaliated and made the lights go beserk, destroying civilisation. The Wasteland Elder, was given the light of fire, so I beleive the wasteland was burned down to the ground. As we see in the fainting soldier memory, he might have fainted from inhaling smoke, a calamity that could've been announced by the trumpet spirit causing the Vault ancestors to close the doors thus sparing the realm. Down the valley of triump, we see most buildings intact covered in ice. My theory is that the valley fell victim to cold winds that froze the ancestors to death, hence the season of dream with the guide having her dream cut short. Further down the peaks of the Valley of Triumph, the light of water, caused a massive drought. Seeing as her subjects were dying of thirst Forest Elder tried to help them by making synthetic rain, the dark rain which hurts us. Finally the light of earth was unleashed troughout the whole kingdom, affecting mainly the Prairie, burying under rubble most traces of civilisation, hence why now murals (and why the Jelly Fish Mural is near the ground). Isle got the short end of the stick and the water drained from the forest sank most of the Isle, and the greenhouse effect created by the wasteland fire caused a massive drought which badly affected the remaining plants. Before the update, there were no butterflies coming from plants for a while. Though in the past (I think about a year or so ago), there used to be one plant in the graveyard that would release butterflies.

What may happen (in theory) is when the plant is burned away, in addition to the light within it becoming wax that skykids can harvest, some of it may become butterflies. We know this is possible from the Day Elder, however, this may not have been directly explained in the game.
Take note, that this is but my interpretation of the lore in the game, and other theorists may have other approaches or theories that may digress (differ) from one another.

alright i've got something for you guys.

me and my friend were chilling in the event area when we started discussing the statues. specifically the abnormally large krill statue.

we believe there may be some sort of "queen krill" as this krill statue had multiple eyes on it's head and was much larger than a normal krill. It was like the king krill but not exactly.

then i mentioned the large krill in the abyss area. not the king krill, the one that looks like an island. it couldn't be the king krill because the king krill lives under the sea, yet it seems to be too large to be a normal krill.

let me know your thoughts on this!

That can be a bigger krill, a rare size, like the big long mantas. Or can be a female krill like you said... If so, are other krills male?
Maybe when these shrimps grow to a certain size, they will grow more eyes and have around 10 spotlights moving in all direction ready to chew the wing off any sky kids fly by

krill actually normally have the extra eyes 👀 you’re not rlly able 2 see it clearly ingame on actual krill like the ones in wasteland n eden n stuff cause well. They usually don’t let u get that close to see em but reika posted some pics of the krill model a while back while getting into some silly stuff in genchat where they’re visible (reason why the pic has. Those eyes)

I have a weird headcanon about a kind of light parasite that feed on stars (light worms in sky kids?)

Originally from Orbit, it has excellent heat resistance and evolved the ability to blend in, feels indistinguishable from its host's light, so the kid won't feel strange and pluck it out. It can stay in the host, but prefer air, so if an infected sky kid drag their light out to make some long, attractive hair style (hair made of light), it will move to that part, causing weird hairs that move on its own, defying physics. They will retreat back in real fast if a sky kid get extinguished.

There can be multiple worms on one sky kid, causing the hair to move in all wild directions. The worms need little light to survive, and it won't affect the sky kid much beside making them confused about their own hair.

Sky kid can get infected when come in contact with the worm sparkles on Orbit. Then the worm grow on the kid. When a sky kid got beam up in Eden, the worm breaks into pieces, get shoot to Orbit with the sky kid as sparkles, ready to infect other sky kids in contact with them, continue its life circle.

I can’t remember if we have here but dwelling on the two we’ve seen I’ve gotten the vibe of like; These poems make me think of the eden diamond being like a dying star, expanding and being bright as ever, confusing migrating creatures both dark and light due to its shimmer, and then getting caught in it’s dying blast

I did come up with a theory for the first memory, that the poem aligns with.

So basically the Jellyfish were on they’re way to Orbit, and Rebirth. When basically they got stuck in Eden and the rebirth cycle we go through. It’s still a work in progress but it’s there.

Dying stars grow brighter then either a) go supernova or b) turn to black hole. There’s also the alternative when they turn into a brown dwarf, but that is more lackluster

We could try observing the GW Krills' routes and then find a vantage point that gives us a good angle of their heads. Maybe with a bit of luck we would be able to see th eye

We could also try replaying one of the Flight quests. I don't remember if the Krill there actually starts roaming the area around but maybe we could snag a photo there since Flight was really bright despite the Krills entering the area

Spirits did a lot of stuff that might have contributed to their own downfall. For one, they had a mass exodus of Spirits moving to the Sky Kingdom which meant that they, the stars of the sky, started falling to the kingdom to live there instead. Another thing is they are responsible for the Darkstone that we power with our Light. As light tech became more prominent, they started harvesting Mantas and using them in bad ways to get their light. Finally, they enabled the King in making a big diamond (seen from a mural, possibly the same diamond of PNR) by worshipping him more which led to the diamond destroying Eden and corrupting the King

The last part is a theory. The first two instances are narratives built around some of the murals we encounter

Langodan suggested that Sky Kids have a balance of Light and Darkness in their bodies (Light being their soul and Darkness being their bodies). If their Light dissipitates, their balance start tipping to thr Darkness. If Sky Kids succumb to the Darkness, it takes over and it petrifies them. If we apply this theory with your question, the Spirits would probably have to dispose a ton of stone statues everytime they extract Light from Sky Kids

I personally don’t believe the balance theory just because petrification also seems to happen to spirits, which seem to be almost pure light; and there aren’t any instances of dark creatures petrifying, but it is a really cool explanation!
A semi related fun fact is that on your way up to Eden, near PNR, you can see petrified skykids with blue crystals growing out of them that greatly resemble darkstone. Probably helpful in figuring out something, although it’s more likely related to general light being anatomy (given the darkstone lore we know) than skykids specifically

Yeah, I’m just saying that the darkness prison isn’t a part of the spirits, it’s the effect ambient darkness has on a being of light — seems to be the more likely option, considering that they don’t appear with that prison afterwards, and it seems to actively harm them

I think all the shard events & those crystals are darkstone in different stages, so in a way? A thing to note is the darkstone seems to get its power from light, not darkness

Don’t worry about it! It’s an easy mistake to make. I think darkness in general seems to function by grabbing light, like krill and crabs for instance, so it doesn’t necessarily mean darkstone is a light aligned thing either if that makes sense (?)

but yeah, darkstone seems to get its power from light bc it functions when we use our candle on it; the difference seems to be that the corrupted version starts taking initiative and sucking it out of us itself when empty instead of just not functioning without light

Related to this: my proposed changes to the Daleth and Teth concept art beasts, to make them Strange and Uncanny to fit in with Concept Art Wasteland Elder. daleth gets a mouth that goes halfway down their neck and teth gets the back half of the lynx replaced with a snake

My reasoning for these changes is "i think the beasts should be unnatural and a bit bad to look at maybe, just to further emphasize the fact that they're literally just people"

Well it's obvios that, the elders were experimenting with artificial light. I see it this way, if light was matter, then the red stones would be antimatter. A black hole captures light, and sucks in everything, crushing it. Those red stones are pieces of Edens jem, hurling through the vortex that surrounds eden itself. Maybe somewhere this jem like reactor, malfunction, turning into a sort of antimatter reactor, that works as a black hole to light.
As for the Krill, I believe use to be light monsters, who like shrimp, were scavengers, so when the light faded, they began to feed on the crystals that contained light. So imagine a kri is chomping the light from one of these crystals, but some of the crystals were potentualy infected, sticking to the Krill mouth like magnets, slowly suckling away thier own life/light energy. Like the skids become shadows when loosing thier light, so do the Krill live in such a perpetual state. So now they hunt any light, seeking peace from the torment they live in.
Think about it, those red hail rocks zap all your light, quickly, but it doesn't kill you. Your skids are not a light creatures, but the Krill used to probably be like the manta, all glowing and sparkling

OK but in sky it's not an hierarchy, like king and queen. It's more of a democratic society, as the way I see it, the elders are more like government ministers, than dictators.
