Joke theory: I realized that if sky kids are made of clay, metal, light, and other inorganic stuff, and the mantas have a vegan diet. It is theoretically possible that mantas are predatory/symbiotic/parasitic towards the sky kid. I mean, the kidnap us a lot, are they some type of symbiotic parasite in a way? In exchange for clay and other minerals, they give out light in return.

The reason why we see the elders like different people as in the cutscenes is because what we see are recordings of them, kinda like before and after photos.

I agree and disagree with this, it is true that doing a full candle run every single day kinda takes away the fun and makes it more of a chore, but at the same time I usually only get 10 a day and spend the rest vibing and hanging out with friends which I think gives a productive balance (but if you can do 20 a day without getting tired of it good on you cause that’s effort) I also learned from my friend aeso that if you do three realms in the morning and three realms later in the evening it doesn’t feel so.. chore-ish and boring

Hmm...I wouldn’t say Sky Kids are robotic. The camera function is perhaps more magical than technological. Maybe they “take a picture” with their hands and summon a real life photo from light, haha.

Or maybe it’s more philosophical: Sky kids take a good look at something they want to especially remember and commit it to memory. Maybe this is a magical power—they can remember something in great detail (almost as if they are looking at a picture in front of them) if they commit it to memory in this way.

Perhaps they “share photos” or “share memories” with others via a psychic-telepathic link?

Yes, well- Samekh is their concept name (yes they share the same names, people usually split it into Sah/Mek, Sam/Ekh, Sam/Mekh, etc.) Daleth is actually Isle elder and Alef is the prince of Sky (yes, there’s a Prince in Sky) and keep in mind, these are concept names not canon names :D

Something I noticed about candles and our characters.
So candles are made of wax, surrounding a stem that a flame sits atop, slowly burning the steam away and melting the wax in the process. Now, if you think about Eden and Orbit, things start to connect. We take all the winged light we have been collecting throughout our journey, and give it away to those who are helpless (maybe like a candle bringing light to the dark). Once we give all of it away and can't go on any further (aka the wax completely melting off the candle), we pretty much die. We ascend, however (don't know what's up with that quite yet), and we travel into the sun, again, like a flame burning the wax on a candle away. We are then reborn to start the cycle once again, and it makes sense, because melted wax can get repurposed into wax for new candles, essentially rebirthing that wax.

The gradient pattern on our character's clothing also matches the gradient pattern on the candles

Now for a theory on the Golden Wasteland

I think it used to be a refuge for victims of the wreckage the Eden diamond thing created. We can see that the rocks it spews out can travel very far distances, and I don't doubt it could do much much more than just shoot rocks out.

We can see multiple structures from each civilization: the forest temples and pedestals, as well as the chandelier from Hidden Forest, the "gold pattern" on the brick-like broken structure from Triumph Valley in the first area, as well as stone pathways

I'm starting to believe that the Wasteland Elder took the victims in out of the kindness of their heart, but as more and more people gathered, it became harder and harder to maintain things. This is why a sewage system had to be established, which is why the ocean is dried up, given the many many pipes leading into it.

Buildings eventually crumbled, and the Krill more than likely had a big part in that.

The victims may have become restless about their situation, blaming the elder for his inaction, when all he wanted to do was help the others. This may have made the other civilizations fight amongst each other and/or the elder, which is why there are spiked barriers set up near the temple.

It seems like the war never got a chance to end normally, because the spiked barriers are still up, while ko weapons seem to be lying around.

I think it became impossible to escape the wasteland, so all the survivors could do was make do with what they had an survive together

We can see a catapult set up, to try and completely avoid the most dangerous area in the Wasteland. We also see some crabs being cooked over an open fire, meaning these survivors were desperate at some point (or crab is just a good meal when cooked)

We see krill most often near areas where large bodies of water were, leading me to believe krill were whales or other light creatures of the sea before being consumed by the darkness (darkness could be another result of Eden's corruption)

The krill then attacked the boats and other creatures, which is why they are destroyed

They were also in great need of light, since the shipwreck contained large amounts of jars of light

Or maybe they were stockpiling jars of light in case the prairies became uninhabitable

The big whirlwind and dark clouds could be a result of the pollution going unchecked, creating a sealed dome, which would likely be devastating to wildlife, crops, and everything else

And alternative to the war theory is that the Elder of Eden attacked the golden wasteland, since we see diamonds on some of the shields and suns on others. The King might have created the monstrosity that is Eden by accident by trying to combine all four elements he acquired from the trials

My theories are pretty bad, please don't judge me

Theory about story of Forest:

A long time ago, the spirits of the forest had to live under the trees and caves to protect themselves of the rain, trying to adapt to those conditions. Until one day, the elder of the forest arrived. She promised to help them if they help her, so with this deal, the spirits started to send itens to the Elder build a better place for them, and that is what she did.
However, with the darkness spreading through the kingdom, the spirits couldn't send the itens for her, making things hard to build, and she REALLY needed help to fix a important thing, but she needed a but of flame, but that was kinda impossible in a rainy forest. Until a sky kid arrive, carrying a flame of fire with them, that is what she needed to fix that thing.

I think Elders were worshipped as gods (in cave of propecy and other elder drawings they're standing on a clouds and are big ). And Isle of dawn elder is god of sailing. Praerie elder...I'm not sure...but assuming bottles with butterflies in his temple he is or god of nature, or god of flying or like a greek Dionis - god of vine. Forest elder - goodness of forgery. Wasteland elder - god of war. Valut elder - god of knowledge. And Eden elder or missing (dead) or according to my theory "main character" ( I mean each skykid in their alternative timeline. Aka in games we play we're main character) is Eden Elder. And Eden elder is god of reincarnation. This explain why we can see spirits and "ascending" them (by buying wing buffs)

And "main character" is quite young god so them going to other gods to learn from them

That's a pretty good theory! Some things that I think are important to note, however: the inhabitants of the forest depleted natural resources faster than any other area in the game, hunting animals, chopping trees, mining rocks. Don't know if that helps at all

I don't know if they were gods, but more like deities or legends. They weren't gods of specific things but they oversaw the main activity within their region. Isle was transportation, Prairie was light harvesting and packaging, forest was natural resources like water, minerals, rocks, and wood, Triumph was..... Well they were proud.... I guess manufacturing? They built alot of stuff. Wasteland dealt with battles and war (maybe), Vault dealt with education, and Eden dealt with...... Giving nightmares or something. My theory is Eden is the end goal for each ancestor, where they can fully ascend after being given permission by the elders, but the King was so hungry for power that it got corrupted into something that doomed the lands

(also I hope I'm not sounding like I'm trying to disprove your theories, I just want to point out some things that stick out to me in hopes that it explains things or help define things and encourage discussion)

However, Vault was closely built, shutting out the outside, the Little Prince area don't seem legit to the theory I made. But we have a long cave-like way to enter that area. It might have been polluting the surroundings, also Proven to that by the way we go through Vault. As you can see we focus on going up rather than anywhere else(the Little Prince area not included). And if you go to the highest area. You can see we are surrounded by tall walls(I don't know what it is). It can clearly visible when deep honk or some lighting effects.

1. Its either that he goes there as a hangout spot for his own and he'd go to Prairie all the time to meet his cousin, Confetti Cousin
2. He was raised alone in there and he learnt more things as he grew up and was able to finally meet his Cousin and soon his Mother

but i have a thought that Boogie Kid was raised alone in the house in Isle, he learnt more and more over time to the point where he was finally able to fly his way to Prairie and then soon met his mother at Valley. and the house at Isle? it ended up becoming his hangout spot

I’m pretty sure golden wasteland serves as a fortress for eden, and there’s a lot of spirits that have to do with war (eg. ‘Fainting’ warrior)

there are many more theories on who they were fighting and why
-two shields theory:there are two kinds of shields scattered about
one having a sun signal and round and the other being pentagonal with a diamond signal
this theory is about a civil war with sun shield users being against diamond production (seeing gw’s damage/light creatures hurt)and diamond shield users being in favour of diamond production (keep living standards high/progress civilisation)
another branch would be of an worker uprising as the working conditions and pollution would have reached unacceptable standards

Hm, I thought that long cosmic manta was just like the cosmic/spirit version of the long manta type of thing that's in Sanctuary and in some of the other concept art. Not sure about the krills before corruption, if it's something that we've already seen in the concepts or if it will be something new to be revealed eventually

also my joke about sky kids being a walking candles seems to be true. All of them have dot on their clothes. The dot disappear, when they take a candle. Sky kids don't wear backpacks and clothes with pockets by default(maybe I'm over thinking and it's coz videogame inventory logic). So I suppose every sky kid has a candle as their core. That's why candle shown in final credits (They just telling us : "Everything is fine. You haven't really die. The core is unharmed")

Come to think of it, perhaps the red candle at the end credits (right at the end and before the sky kid is reborn when they come down as a falling star), could symbolise the skykid's life.
The red candle is lit and used to delve into darkness and give light, but inevitably, it burns out. But there can always be another candle to carry the flame.

is a sky kid a child of light, or a child of darkness, I wonder.
On the one hand, if they were to be created by the megabird (the supposed creator of light creatures and giver of flame and life), why is their skin dark instead of light like most of the light creatures?
On the other hand, they are seen as hybrids of the ancestors and light creators based on their lights briefly flashing blue when using their wings to fly, their souls are blue like that of an ancestor and they can fly like light creatures and are hurt by darkness. On that case, why are they the only living technical descendant of the ancestors?

All that said, if a skykid is neither purely made of light, and not corrupted by the darkness, can they take sides between the light and dark side?
I know that is a bit of debacle given a skykid's behaviour as suggested by the lore and the behaviour seen by players makes getting a straight answer hard.
So, for fanon's sake, can a skykid be corrupted and instead take winged light, and commit to the light and possibly become strong enough to vanquish the darkness?

I think that has to do with what they are made of.
They could be made of wax, or clay. Either way, their bodies are subtly translucent when they have light shining on them (or through them).
This effect, as far as I can recall, happens when they hold candles, near a flame, or being lit up by friends (either with their candles or holding hands).

The reason I am not considering flesh, is they are fire proof, which rules out human flesh.

Very possible, I'd agree with that.

There are some cultural references in the game (or inspiration drawn from mythology), such as Greek mythology.
To name a few, the flame is similar to the fire stolen from Olympus by Prometheus. The creation of humans form clay by Prometheus. And lastly, a tenuous (weak) parallel with the skykids carrying a flame through out their journey to symbolise continuity (to complete the cycle over and over again).

They have a soul, and their bodies seems to have light inside them if one interprets the light in the chest to house the flame they carry.

dude, While cross checking the greek mythology influence point. I read more about Prometheus and his story is oddly familiar...

1- He is a trickster that helped create and develop humanity's civilisation.
2- He gave the humans fire, and taught them how to progress with technology.
3- Disobeyed (did not listen to) the god Zeus, and was punished.
4- Was bound to a mountain to be tormented in an endless cycle.

I am not saying that the story of Prometheus is just like that of what we can piece together of what happened to the Corrupted King (Eden Elder), though can't ignore the parallels.

welp, the architecture would point to that.
Though, there are not pipes in valley, that I know of.
They are likely close to each other in location and culture (or historic progress in civillisation), however, they are likely just different regions.
While Valley is centred on the height of civilisation (competitive games, fame and fortune status), the Golden Wasteland is more of a down to earth (pun intended) industrial setting. The Golden Wasteland shows when things were taking a turn for the worst.

The portals usually have some wear or ruin to them. So having one of the pillars being slightly broken, would suggest the portal is old and either abandoned before skykids started using them, or an artistic choice by the devs.

Maybe those things the characters were riding on a krill? But in the prophecy cave the drawings on the wall showed a krill, suggesting that they were around for awhile.

Good question. Even if we consider season and Home portals to be non-canon, there's still the one portal in Prairie. I would guess that no, the spirits had no portals.
