see... there is nothing in the game or in canon that could be used as evidence either for or against this argument and it does not significantly impact lore... so i dont think it rally matters... but if we think about it, its highly unlikely, as spirits are very closely related to skids biologically, and for skids, what u call an ascended form is actually just the soul living in the body of the skid (u can see the body shattering and the soul moving on in eden when u die, just like when we save the spirits) so it would make sense for spirits, the predecessor species of skids, to have a body, and a soul INSIDE it rather than a physical form and an ascended form...
