In contrast with the glorious citadel with their advanced technology, the village is rather lacking and somber. Yes it is cozy but it does not fit with the rest of the glorious valley that we are used to see and think of how fun it is.
We are used to see a grand, competitive community in valley. Most of the spirits of valley are performers and few of them are commoners (hip stance).
This allowed me to think that valley is not as perfect as it seems which connects to real life where certain things are too extra and fancy it would blinds you about problems that it has.
