My personal favorite theory that I heard was that they split from one body/person, or that their parent was the original elder but it passed on to the twins

A thought: what if the reason elders have technology on them that supposedly caused society to fall is because that tech became part of them? When you make a decision, good or bad, that decision and its consequences become a part of you. Sure, you can grow away from something, but it can never fully be removed. For better or worse, each decision changes who you are.
Some are affected more deeply than others. For the twins, it's a core element of who they are (hence the diamond being in their torso). For Teth and Lamed, it's something they focus on and use, but it's a tool rather than a key piece of them (hence the presence on the headpiece). For Ayin, it's an undertone. Not really noticed unless one looks deeper, hence it only being visible on once lit. For Daleth, it's hardly anything. For Tsadi, it's... Complicated. He was to protect his people, and got tied up in the technology, which is why he has two shields. It's about the people, but the tech complicates the story.

so the pipes are where the sludge of the light creatures after being turned into power diamonds since bad feeling like hate and vengeance don't get used for the diamonds. so all this bad sludge started to accumulate and started to split the pipes up. then the sludge started to pool into the water of wasteland and started binding with small creatures in that water, krill. as the sludge kept building and building then made the krill what they are today, giant dark creatures made out of the hate of the light creatures used for the diamonds

Ok... I’m not well versed in lore so bear with me but... in world history class we’ve been learning about ancient civilizations, including but not limited to, Rome. Now I’ve noticed some similarities between Rome and Golden Wasteland. First of all, the pipes: Rome is known for its pipes and water systems. Two, the battlefield: Rome fell due to incompetent leaders and much violence between them maybe this has something to do with the city being in ruins??? Three, the boats: Rome was a port and hot spot for trading, which might be why the ark is kind of a market of sorts with some Mediterranean influences (???). Maybe this is just me, but I don’t know I just wanted to get my ideas out there.
